- In this for Studio One Expert, Brent March shows us how he takes a Kalimbo sample he has recorded and turns them into multiple virtual instruments Studio One's Sample One XT.
SampleOne XT has the ability to create fresh and different instruments, every time you open it up. It has an old-school sampler feel, and a very creative tool to use if you've got hard drives on samples to root through in order to create unique sounds for your music.

Been doing that a lot back then, but stopped because... I don't know, but it's neat that you showed this. What I would add is that you can layer mutliple waves in SampleOne in one instance. It's insane what you can come up with when you just start randomly combining different sounds in there.
How do you layer the samples?
@@factsoverfeelings421 Drag and drop samples into it.
@@iamgeorgesears So I can just drag one in and drop it on top of one that’s already there to combine them?
@@factsoverfeelings421 Exactly.
@@iamgeorgesears Cool. I had no idea that was possible. Thank you.
Thank you
Great video.. I've never used the sampler in studio one.. you made it look simple...
Had no idea I could do this. Thanks
Thank you. Helpful as usual
Thanks! How do you store it as a separate vst instrument?
Cool up until 4:27 where it went from a Kalimba sample to something that doesn't sound intended. I'm not sure if the issue is something that happened on RUclips upload or what, but it turned into something that I don't think sounded anything like something usable.
Very helpful. Thank you.
thankyou
Thanks. It's good to be shown how simple it is to capture a sound and play it polyphonically, and I'll definitely experiment with this.
I don't understand why you'd take a smooth naturally acoustic sound and turn it into a horribly distorted digital sound that bears no resemblance to the original. You can create such 'new' sounds in any synthesiser from scratch or use their millions of horrible presets.
Title & description are misleading... I thought this video was supposed to show creating a Virtual Instrument? I'm a noob and still learning terminology, but this video just shows using Sample One to create/edit a sample sound. There's no creation of a VST or other type of virtual instrument that can be used independently. I'm wondering if Studio One actually has the capability of designing/creating savable/usable virtual instruments, because that would be AWESOME!
Sample one lets you do this yes.
hey, i could only use it as the one note my keyboard didnt fill with all the notes of the one sound i made
can you help??
How to make 808 hit hard with Sample one
Why does everyone call the Red Light Distortion plugin in Studio One Red Light District LOL🤣
So there is basically no modulation response to and externally sent MDI control #1 to this instrument. Nobody explains how to make the modulation work with an external controller. Why is that? Does it work or not? No modulation wheel response from SAMPLE 1, is it a handicaped sampler or something like that? . . .it makes me sad! It has no "mojo" at all! Should it must take some Viagra or something? What's the dirty trick to make it work?
Why do they chose such a boring sound. Start boring and ends up just a little less boring. Choose something which would help to inspire and to use the plugin.
Not a fan of samples, so it not something I will invest any time in. Also Redlight distortion is a really awful plugin, I haven’t found anything it sounds good on.
Just seeing this now. But I really appreciate your insightful input.
Thanks 🙏🏾
