    You made this easier then most people make this out to be. (Looking ahead my child is about to be a third grader but wanted to see what I'll have to do in the future)

    Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and time. I have found out all about homeschooling and how to aproach it through all your videos. I started homeschooling my kids at the right time. I was going nuts worrying about sending my kids back to public school in the middle of this pandemic. But after I started homeschooling not just that but also I realized my kids were learning almost nothing during all these years in public school. My son who is going to start highschool this year is now learning Grammer. To the point I had to start with 2nd grade English with all my kids. I just bought the IEW DVDS to help him prepare for highschool. Also I am in the process of purchasing the curriculum choices you have mentioned in your videos. Being honest this hole transcript idea had me still bit nervous to the point I was thinking of sending my son back to public school so that he could get accreditation for college. Though after all I will continue this path of homeschooling my children with the help of God. Thank you so Much! For sharing you knowledge.

    Which year of school do you begin planning the high school years? My son is entering 7th grade this year. Would I wait until the summer before 9th grade to begin planning for high school or should I begin in 8th grade?

    Thank you, very good info. I’m pulling my son from high school so I will need to get his transcripts and see what credits he has already. He didn’t do very good in some classes . I’m not sure what grade to use as passing or if I should have him do over classes he got a D in. He is planning to a tech school so I’m not worried about him getting into a 4 year college.

    Thank you for this! Just got your planning pack and it is going to be so helpful. I have a question about how to do a Lab for science for High School, do you have a video that covers that? Thanks!

      @JanelleKnutson  3 года назад +1

      Yay! Glad the video was helpful and I hope the planning pack helps you as you homeschool your high schooler! I don't have a video or blog post on science labs but I'm adding it to my list of topic ideas. Thanks for the suggestion!

    My 2 highschoolers are starting homeschool in a week. I homeschooled them when they were younger shortly. Question: They passed and completed all of 1st semester. They are using online and textbooks for the rest of the school year. As far as online courses, can I start it midway or do they have to start everything from the beginning bc the online program grades work?

  • @mamabenzing5872
    @mamabenzing5872 4 года назад

    Did any of your kids do any dissection for biology? Would an online course be ok? Or maybe would butcher deer or beef count as dissection? I'd rather be able to count when we butcher the venison when we hunt or beef when it's time to butcher our steers and not have to buy a kit. I find myself watching your older videos, I'll have 2 in high school this coming up year and trying to get everything ready.

    • @JanelleKnutson
      @JanelleKnutson  4 года назад

      Yes, both kids that have done biology so far have also done all the dissections. Dissections are to help the student better understand a particular type of animal or concept they are learning about. We have found them to be very helpful. Oldest child used Apologia biology and we got the lab/dissection kit that went with that. This year we used BJU DL online biology and bought the Logos lab kit that goes with BJU biology.

    Are the course requirements just for you, or do you include them in college apps?

    • @JanelleKnutson
      @JanelleKnutson  5 лет назад +1

      I include the course requirements in the course catalog I create that gets sent to colleges with the transcript. I share more about that in the Homeschool High School: Records video. :)

    I know there are a lot of online curriculums in Ca. such as Time4learning. Is there anywhere I can buy books instead. I'm thinking about homeschooling my daughter next year for high school. Thank you for your informative video.

      There are lots of textbook options for homeschoolers. You can do high school with no online instruction. Scroll to the bottom of this post for a list of homeschool curriculum providers. Most of them offer curriculum for the high school years. Note that this is just a small list. There are sooo many options these days for homeschoolers! Does bible qualify as an elective for highschool?

    • @JanelleKnutson
      @JanelleKnutson  2 года назад

      Yes! Bible can be an elective. You might want to give it a more creative name like Old Testament Survey or New Testament Survey or Life of Christ or Christian Theology.
