  • Welcome back to Franks Garage in todays video we get this GSX650f running awesome by removing the fuel pump assembly, cleaning it and reinstalling it! We were having issues with this flip of the day. It would not accelerate, it sputtered at any where from 5-7k RPM! Lets see if cleaning this fuel pump assembly/hangar will fix our issue!

    You saved me $426 on a new pump. Your information on cleaning the piece where the regulator goes was spot on. My bike runs like new now. Ive must have taken the pump out at least 6 times changing o ring and cleaning everything other than that hole.

      Great Vid man, workin on mine now. Bike is bogging mid-high rpm, only idling for short bits then dying.

    Thanks for vid Frank. it took me 4 times disassemble the tank and 2 new pumps until to discover that at that tiny hole i have to carb spray it and boom . problem solved. People before change your pump , spray this tiny hole with carburetor spray and air pressure, several times. 70% this is the problem before you change pump. My poor rear tire. it accelerates now like lightening :-)))))))

    I watched this today after putting new pump and regulator in and bike was still running shit, I took it all apart and poked at the mesh and blew through it, started bike back up and went for ride and no bogging down, I didn’t know bottom plastic pump housing came off until I saw this video, it’s fixed at last , cheers 👍

    Bought my gsx650f with poor reaction to throttle. Earlier owner changed sparks, filters, ecu and nothing, same result. I bought new fuel pump and the same...again removed everything..max revs 5-6k, and speed 130-140kmh...Problem was debris in STRAINER of fuel filter plastic housing (look inside through the hole) Nr. 8 TOP PART on the parts picture. Drowned it in petroleum for 24h and blowed with compressed air. And finally 4k kms without problems. Top speed 230kmh by speedo and joy of riding..

    This seem to have fixed my issue. I got a new fuel filter strainer and followed this video and seems like it has fixed the problem. I just went around the block for now. Tomorrow will be a good 10 miles ride and see if it holds up.

    Last one it wouldn't hurt to check that paper fuel filter in your tank at the end of season if I did I wouldn't have had the problems I did and wasted money.
    They break down over the yrs and can cause performance issues down the line

    Just bought a 2008 with 5.5k miles on it for $3k, is this issue with all of them? Should I do preventative maintenance on the fuel system? I hate taking something apart that's working, but if I'm going to be left stranded somewhere, I'd rather get it over with.

    I did not disassembled it totally and I have to do that again, because for sure there will be the dirt inside the pressure regulator housing. Do you think the pump should be still ok?
    In my case there is a very occasional loss of power and immediately FI error pops up, after connecting the tester C28 comes out, but interestingly turning off the ignition for a moment clears the FI error (in A mode).

    Very awesome, I've put 7,000 miles on mine since April (its Nov 1st here, 27f and I still ride!)
    Mine has had random bogging issues, and extremely harsh on/off throttle intermittently. When I have it leaned over almost scraping pegs it certainly upsets the bike having the brutal ON/OFF switch type situation on the throttle. Doing this at work today (motorcycle shop luckily) and I'm hoping it'll make it stop! I'd like to be able to comfortably push its limits with a smooth throttle!

      did it work? my gsxr k7 is bogging hardcore. tried to use up all the gas and put new premium gas in and it just made it worse. think the fuel pump is gunked up and i made the issue worse.

      @jordanerickson3714 2 года назад

      @@danknug11 Did it at work in about an hour, my top speed went from 140 to 150+ and it either does a small wheelie or spin the rear when I go on it hard in first. It made a huge difference. The filter was nearly black, and I used carb cleaner on and in every part of the assembly. The rough on/off isn't nearly as bad, but from what I've read it takes a power commander to get an actual smooth response. That's next for me. Otherwise the service is very fast and easy, do it with a nearly empty tank!

    hey Frank, I have removed and cleaned the reg 4 or 5 times. Each time it will run fine for 30-60 mins then the issue returns either 3000rpm-6000rpm or above 6000rpm. You think maybe replacing the reg ? Any help appreciated

    Hi I have Ktm rc 390 my problem with the bike is it sputtering around 75mph and won’t rev over 7k , lower gear work excellent but when I try to go over around 75mph the bike is just sputtering and bogging , but if I play with throttle on n off it would slowly increase the speed , the bike don’t have speed limiter or anything like that
