    This seems like a much better option to the Stinger stereo. The Stinger has so many restrictions considering the price. Thanks for posting 👍🏾

      @AyyJayy02  Год назад

      No problem. I’m skeptical about that stinger radio. I saw a video recently where they measured the preamp output voltage, and it was well below the 4-volts that they advertise. It was somewhere around 2.8V if I’m not mistaken. Alpine and Pioneer were my top choices.

    How did you get rid of the rattle, i have a halo 9 and I get rattle from the dash kit too. Been thinking of opening it up again and adding adhesive foam or something

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  27 дней назад

      That’s pretty much what I did. Applied sound deadener to the inner parts of the dash kit and cloth tape wherever plastic touched plastic. I think I may post a video of that. It’s edited already, but it was supposed to be part of a longer video which may never get finished.

    Im curious to if you did any research on the Joying android unit before going alpine. Is the audio quality much better for these than the chinese made ones? I am trying to stick to a budget so I can invest in better speakers, amps and a sub. -thanks.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  5 месяцев назад

      I didn’t look at them. I’ve been buying Alpine since I was in high school. Sound quality is always great. I DID almost get pioneer just because one of their units sits flush in the dash unlike the floating unit. I think with Joying, you get what you pay for. I won’t trash talk it too badly since I haven’t experienced it first hand. I’m sure there are some videos out there where they’ve been tested though.

    Did you have the jbl unit prior to this? My jbl unit absolutely sucks for volume. I am concerned that adding a new head unit going through the jbl amp won’t improve that issue. Any thoughts?

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  11 месяцев назад

      I had the non-JBL. If it has a factory amp, I replace all the speakers and bypass the factory amp when changing the headunit. Circuit City connected my parent’s aftermarket headunit through the factory amp of their Pathfinder (a long time ago), and the volume was way too loud when the unit was turned up to 4. Results may be different with other vehicles, but that was my experience with that.

  • @mikeschoolcraft21

    Is it mounted solid? I had my rear view mirror come off and swinging around hanging by the wires when in a sand wash. My wife had to hold it for a while. It looks like it moved around quite a bit.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  Год назад

      It’s not mounted solid in this video. I was able to get the mounting screws behind the screen after this video. It’s doesn’t budge at all. I meant to do an update video on that, but it’s hanging out in editing limbo at the moment.

    Is there a prefab 10 inch box out there for the 3rd gen Tacoma?

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  11 месяцев назад

      I’ve seen a couple of them, but the ones I have seen don’t have space for the rear window motor. I’m sure there are different kinds.

    do you worry about thieves with that big screen? can you mirror your i phone screen?

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  Год назад +2

      The unit runs CarPlay if you have your iPhone connected, so it doesn’t show exactly what is on the phone. It’s more like a modified version of iOS that has the apps that you would use while driving. As far as thieves go, I have the car garage kept while at home. And if someone were to break in the vehicle while it’s out, it’s unlikely that they would stay in it long enough to get the unit out without breaking it. It’s pretty solid how its installed.

  • @jasonyota4667
    @jasonyota4667 Год назад +1

    You think the unit is worth it being so pricy? Been debating for awhile.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  Год назад +1

      I think the big screen is the biggest benefit. And how much better it sounds than factory. I haven’t tested out any video or FLAC audio files yet. I always buy Alpine, so I’m kinda bias, but I had to get something that filled in that area that a 7” touchscreen wouldn’t. Then having CarPlay now is nice, since the Tacoma didn’t come with it until the year after mine. I’m happy with it so far.

    How do remove the head unit from the radio , like take it off

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  Год назад +1

      It’s attached to the unit in the dash with 4 screws. Gotta remove those and the power plate, then it slides out.

    How do you like a yr later?

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  6 месяцев назад +2

      It’s still good. I was able to get the screws in the back to keep the screen from rattling. Truck only gets driven maybe a day each week. Only issue I’ve had is with wireless CarPlay not connecting consistently. It’ll start playing audio on my phone instead of on the stereo, and I’ll have to reboot the unit to get it to work right. Other than that, it’s been solid.

  • @TRDproMike
    @TRDproMike Год назад

    Hey man, great video I currently have this head unit, but in the 11” screen
    What did you do to fix that rattle problem?

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  Год назад +2

      Finally being able to get the screws behind the screen helped. But I did add a bunch of sound deadener to the dash kit and added cloth tape wherever the plastic pieces attached to each other. It’s rock solid now. I’ll show it in a follow-up video of my experience with the unit. I got sidetracked with another project, so it’ll be posted a couple videos from now.

      It’s not too bad. I wasn’t a huge fan of floating screens, but it’s grown on me. I’ve been meaning to post an update video on it, but I’ve had issues with wireless CarPlay connecting. Or connecting and playing audio on the phone instead of the stereo. I don’t know if that’s an Apple issue though.
