Ip Man vs. Yuri Boyka (Fight Analysis) - Martial Royale

- It's Donnie Yen's Ip Man vs. Scott Adkins' Yuri Boyka from the Undisputed series! Being a fan of Deadliest Warrior and Death Battle, I thought of this idea one day after trying to come up with what two martial arts film characters would make an interesting match-up. Then I decided to google it knowing that someone out there had probably already thought of it before me. And sure enough, someone did. Several people in fact, who had started their own comment threads on various forums most of them on Comic Vine’s “Battles” page. But they didn’t go into nearly as much detail as I would’ve wanted to (not sure who would lol). Some time while I was researching for this match-up I happened to stumble upon an actual RUclips video that dealt with the same topic. The first and possibly only one on RUclips ( • Video . I left my own lengthy comment on it complimenting the uploader and went on my way to try to hustle and finish my own video. And well, here it is. I hope you enjoy it. Your analysis went far and beyond by miles and miles of any other hypothetical fight I've watched. You won another subscriber. Kudos to you!
Why thank you sir! I wish I could promise you more of these but sadly simply making this one has burned me out...
Oö
Fabulous work, Mr. Pelsang --- an outstanding narration, packed with information, thoughtful commentary, and nicely gauged touches of humor as well. The writing lives up to the skilled selection and editing of the film. Don't ever stop, man. You have not merely the talent, but something much rarer and more valuable: the drive to get this high quality of work accomplished. I salute you!
Thank you so much! I have a lot match-ups planned and maybe some other types of commentary. I'll just need to find the time for them. I might not get to them for a long time...
I and 50,000+ other admirers are willing o wait. Best wishes!
Boyka
Damn son. This video was impressive as all hell. I can't even imagine how much time and effort you must have put into it. It's definitely a hard 10 out of 10.
I’m surprised I restrained myself from just going to the end of the video, I actually enjoyed it, well doneeeeee
Of course I'm gonna sit through the whole thing, man. This video was freaking awesome, and only now am I realizing how many of your videos I've watched and what an inspiration they've been to get me started on Martial Arts. Thank you for the content, and I am definitely going to keep watching.
Absolutely the best commentative fight vid on RUclips.
Fantastic, I really enjoyed this. Well done Jamyang 10/10
what is this? A "who would win" scenario, based on an actual in-depth analysis of two martial artist's skills, attributes, and feats, instead of pety fanboy favoritism? Someone give this man a beer.
Just a beer? Seriously? He deserve a nobel prize.
How 'bout a Nobel Prize submerged in beer?
Genius
That's a good idea. Also I have an idea for the next video, how about a "best fight scenes: street fighting"? Or even one about boxing or krav maga?
Most likely Krav Maga. I find boxing to be boring in movies but that's just my bias haha
This is pretty good. I hope you have plans on making more. Perhaps make it a monthly thing.
I also have pretty good match-ups ideas for you:
Jason Statham vs Steve Seagal
Jet Li vs Sammo Hung
Jean Claude Van Damme vs Tony Jaa
Mark Dacascos vs Richard Norton
May not be the most interesting match-ups, but that's all I can come up with.
P.S You make awesome videos
I have over 20 match-up in mind but sadly they won't be made for quite some time. So far among my list I don't have Richard Norton yet. Unfortunately he hasn't been in any particularly entertaining movies as the protagonist.
Jamyang Pelsang very cool video.
how about Chen Zhen vs Ip Man
I always thought Chong Li (Bloodsport) vs Tong Po (Kickboxer) would be an awesome match.
Chen Zhen vs. Ip Man would be interesting. But I would have to decide which version of Chen Zhen (whether Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, or all of them). And I've actually seen a post about Chong Li (Bloodsport) vs. Tong Po (Kickboxer) somewhere before. I would personally go with Chong Li.
all of those are ez
Good to see a video like this get a Million views, im proud for u
What an in depth research. @Jamyang you have a new fan today. Thanks for the great work.
Magnificently done !! Classic video, Classic movies, Classic people, Classic characters !!!
Damn impressive compilation and analyzation. I watched every second actually awestruck at the research. Well done sir.
same here!
how to download ip man 4 the final
I have recently seen both movie series and fallen in love with both fighters, their individual styles work so well for their universes. But I do agree, apon seeing this, I immediately thought Shipu Yip Man(Ip Man's full name) would be at a disadvantage seeing as he lacks the grappling and ground fighting Boyka showcases. But this SUPER in depth look at them as individual fighters, general strengths and weaknesses and then how these strengths and weaknesses stack up against eachother. LOVE this vid! Keep up the good work!
Well good for you it is rainbowtimes
I am seldom so completely engrossed in a film that the length wasn't QUITE long enough! Your encyclopedic knowledge of techniques of so many styles is amazing!
I actually had a lot of details cut out because they seemed sort of trivial but this video is still pretty long. Thanks for sticking all the way through! And I wouldn't say I'm that knowledgeable in martial arts. I have more of "wikipedia" expertise if you will lol and only the very basic theoretical concepts. But at least you enjoyed the analysis!
Great video!
Scott Adkins will be in the new Ip Man, by the way. Not as Boyka most likely, but still... What a great team up!
This is one of the most well-researched and thorough videos I have ever seen. Good job!
You should do more of this, very entertaining and informative.
Just watched this whole video and didn’t even know it was a hour, wow! Great vid
Thanks for surviving the whole way through!
@@jamyangpelsang3099 appreciate the analysis
This is some great work you had done I hope you really do carry on with these versus series I like how the way you did it you got my full support
Ready....Don't Worry
This is great! Now I wanna watch Undisputed!
For someone who isn't a martial artist, you have a good eye. Well done!
As you pointed out, however, it is the martial artist, not the martial art, who determines he outcome. Given the reverence for lineage in the martial arts, it is unlikely that the story of the origin of Wing Chun is apocryphal. That means that the art is specifically designed to deal with the weight and strength disparity, Also, as an internal art, it is crafted to use that weight and strength against itself. The training in Wing Chun to close swiftly to the interior center of the opponent would also compensate for many of he gymnastics. That leaves us with two masters of equal skill, fighting on an essentially equal footing. I think it would be up to who made the first mistake.
You are an extraordinarily keen observer. You should study--I think you'd enjoy it.
Thanks for keeping updated
bro you good asf,u really made me watch an 1 hour video without being bored
You deserve a ton of my respect for actually watching the whole thing. Thanks!
I'm fucking excited for Ip Man 4.
aaronam0115 what? There is going to be a fourth one?!
oh, sorry, haven't watched it completely, i don't always have a free hour
Joshua Suh bbdv
love how them being compared to and now there's gonna be a movie where they fight each other
Donnie Yen is the goat
Loved it, very thorough, & simply amazing analysis.
"Stay formless, shapeless, & be water".
Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing high-quality content! Do more of these, keep up the good work!
Thank you! Not sure if I can make another versus match-up for a while though. For now I can only upload fight scene compilations due to irl priorities...
Knowing IPMan and Boyka over all I think they would cancel each other out a lot more than we believe and this fight will be a more equal fight. Remember the unpredictability of chaos in a fight. Knowing Bruce Lee's teaching and great quote of water flowing and crashing. I believe IPMan and Boyka are equals.🥊🥋
Mentes criminales
Jordan Simpson knew them then?
David Hemy Please tell me you know their fictional characters right, and if you're talking about Scott A. and the actor and martial artist who played IP man. Then no.
this guy really did the research for this video jeez
This guy takes his homework seriously 👌
Two of my favourite martial artists, keep up the good work jamyang
Thank you very much!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video, and totally agree with the battle terms and results.
One bit of information that is omitted is that wing chun being a style dveloped in the south focussed mainly on close in hand techniques and a well centered balance. It didn't rely too much on kicking. This is because the terrain in the south was, more often, affected by a greater amount of rainfall. The ground in the souther was, more often, muddy and slippery. In the northern regions some of the styles developed more aggressive kicking techniques that often included spinning to increase power and speed. The ground there was normally drier and firmer. It offered better footing.
I had no idea how geography could affect the evolution of a specific martial art. Thanks for sharing!
I love seeing martial arts displayed and analyzed like this. Could you analyze some real life examples of how Wing Chun CAN be used in real fights?
That would be interesting but I don't have enough Wing Chun expertise to make a video about that.
This is a truly awesome video. I watched it in it's entirety, please keep up the excellent work...
Thank you watching all of it! I know it's incredibly long and easy to lose interest after 10-20 minutes...
I really hope you continue this series. It's awesome! I was disappointed to see there's only one video so far
I hope this series can start up again too....once I find enough time to upload these more regularly. Otherwise it might take half a year just for a single video lol
Well, I'm impressed by the work you put into the video. With 2.6K thumbs up - looks like it may be a hit. ;)
Thanks :) I wasn't sure how much attention this would get especially given its length but it seems to have gotten quite the audience so far :D
The fighters and the quality of the analysis makes it all worth it. Plus, your video introduced me to
Ip Man: Cheung Tin Chi. Now I'm super excited to see that spin-off film!
If you want to reach an even larger audience - mayybe cutting the length in half would bring in more people, but - I listen to "Crime in Sports" and "Smalltown Murder" - which are a couple of podcasts that run about 2hrs per episode. Why? Because they're just that good.
So, if you've got good quality on something like this that people want to see (and, as far as I know, no one else is making videos comparing fighters like this) - I think you could bring in a lot of viewers.
- putting in the time for all the research and video editing - and releasing on a regular schedule will probably be the hardest part, lol.
I'm excited for the Cheung Tin-Chi spin-off. I think the title is now "Master Z: Ip Man Legacy". They even got Tony Jaa, Michelle Yeoh, and Dave Bautista (for some reason, he seems to be appearing in everything now lol). As for longer videos, cutting the length to a max of 20-30 minutes I think would be ideal. I probably should've split this one into three 20-minute videos. But I decided to be kinda stupid and experiment with a longer length. Podcasts are longer but they don't seem to get as many views as more edited videos so 20 minutes will probably do it.
These Are Superb Martial Arts Movies!!! I Really Enjoy The Disciplinary Scenes As Well As The Fight Scenes. "Outstanding!!!"
donnie yen is clearly the best ip man actor, good choice on using him
Donnie yen is ip man's son, he is playing as his father 😑😑😑

great explanation!! i've watched it till the end!
I agree with below, long video. But I stayed to the end. It was at 50 mins I was like holy farkalus. such detail and knowlege! Entertaining and captivating. No receptiveness. Was a discipline to get to the end. And, worth it. I have thought about a lot watching it, which may be highest compliments!
Great video, I loved how you delved into the specific details of the movies and did your homework. I agree with both your analysis and result. Boyka has the slight advantage. Boyka would win, but barely.
I would love if you did more of these fights. I would like to see how different Undisputed antagonists fare against each other.
Another interesting detail to add... Is Yuri Boyka has tattoos on his body which were exclusively given in prison to members of the Russian Mafia. so i guess sometime before Undisputed 2, some mafia boss thought he was skilled enough to work for him. and then he ended up in prison.
i am deeply impressed by ur research
Thank you for you obviously put a lot of time and effort into this.
And thank you for watching it!
thanks for collecting all the data to make this Video.
Was fun and interesting to watch.
They are both amazing fighters, I enjoy watching their movies.
edit: in case u feel like making a new Versus video, i have the perfect match up for you to deal with. Rocky Balboa vs Kurt Sloane ( Karate Tiger 3: Kickboxer )
I'm a fan of both their series so luckily I didn't have any special bias towards either one in particular. I haven't seen much of Karate Tiger 3 though. I would rather Rocky fight another boxer actually otherwise I feel like it wouldn't be a fair. Not to mention someone with almost as many movies as him just to even out the amount of source material being analyzed. But interesting suggestion.
Very good video Jamyang! Finaly!!!😅
Thank you! It's been a while haha
In IP Man 4, now we can c a fight between Donnie Yen and Scott Adkins'. The long awaited fight...
Bro you're the best! I totally love this video!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Although this video is a bit long, it is very well thought out and detailed. Great job
Yeah I should've shortened it or split into 3 separate 20 minute videos...but thanks anyways :)
woow 58 min , i thought it was about 10 minutes , good work only that you compare movies not actual fights there is a huge difference but i´ve enjoyed the 58 min :))) go for more videos like this one
Finally, somebody actually recognizes the fact that, given two fairly closely skilled fighters, size is a big factor.
K ? What size got to do with 1 technique 2 speed 3 power size is more imtemadation
DdHGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
DdHGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I wouldn’t say they’re fairly close, traditional martial arts then to usually fail
Great video! I never would've thought of it.
Thanks! Apparently a lot of people have thought of this. But only one other person seems to have made a video about it.
Excellent analysis
you predicted ip man 4 2019 nice job
Remember that he was already a master of some several kung fu styles. means Chinese, Korean and Japanaese and maybe even European. It is like learning programming when you already know C++ and maybe Java or whatever.
This is what you call an analysis, damn!
This would be a cool video to revisit after Ip Man 4's fights
hey Jamyang it turned out very good, I can tell you really put the time in on research and I like how you gave a wins out of 100 result at the end rather than just saying who wins, because with fighters of this level there are so many variables that no two fights would be the same and I can definitely see the potential paths the fight could take that could lead either one to a win. P.S. thanks for the clip of me at the end I appreciate it, though for those watching my name is Naylor not Daylor :)
Thank you again for the input. I wish I hadn't misread/misheard your name. It's a really silly mistake that could've been avoided easily...and the idea of discussing the outcome out of 100 fights seemed necessary for adding more realism as you said.
Great analysis... however, dirty street fighting is survival - no rules, just take down within a few seconds and you walk away without having to worry about your opponent getting up!
Movies are entertaining and I enjoy them.
Doing a full spar for less 5 minutes, I was totally exhausted.
Thanks! I barely have any stamina or combat skills myself so my first move on the street would be to turn tail and run lol
Wow, you do have a voice for RUclips man and you know your shit I'm impressed
Thanks! I do my best. I still need to improve though :P
I agree. It's rare to find guys this good. Let alone worth watching an hour long video.
You're wrong. MMA has always existed...just not termed. Plus, Royce is pronounced with an H. Systema is relatively new and is thought to have got some of its ideas from U.S. research into armed and unarmed combat.
I know this is old but it was fantastic bro i think you should do more martial royale in future
Just pure Excellence we need more fight analysis of other movie fighters
Excelent job dude. Saw the link for the other video, and yeah, there was a lot of fan favouritism for Boyka there. And although i'm a fan of the character myself and a mma fan and practioner as well, i can see more well made points in your video, since i also trained some kung fu,and damm, how many days did you need for that video script and research? Something really rare to see nowadays in youtube. Also, you speak very well in the video. If you plan to do another one, you could do like,Tony Jaa vs Iko Uwais or Van Damme vs Chuck Norris, :p
Thanks! I think it took around 200 hours just to edit. Worked on and off on the research and writing for almost a year I think. I loved the other video I referred to in the description but I felt there was some MMA bias. I have over 20 ideas and I tried to find a good match-up for Tony Jaa and Io Uwais but it seems Tony Jaa's characters are usually too strong for Uwais's. But who knows..
Hehe I know. But maybe,The Raid vs the Protector? Character wise,Tony Jaa might win overall speaking, but, martial wise,i think it would be very cool to put a comparison. But if it's a match between characters that are conceived as ''gods of kickass'' ,maybe Chuck Norris vs Steven Seagal? Hehehe :p
I was also saving Tony Jaa's character from the Protector for Scott Adkins' character from the Ninja series. They both have two movies each and having a ninja go up against a Thai warrior is interesting. But I've been trying to find an Iko Uwais vs. Tony Jaa match-up that would be fair....in terms of Chuck Norris, none of his characters have had many fight scenes or if so not very entertaining ones like Walker Texas Ranger. Otherwise I was gonna be predictable and just have some sort of Seagal vs. JCVD match-up with composites of several of their movies haha
To be honest,I haven't seen much of Chuck Filmography, and from what i watched it,only A Force of One and Octagon were entertaining for me,but matching Norris with someone else would be fun to watch. About Van Damme,I don't know if you agree with me,but all his characters,(at least his main roles in from 80s till early 00s),feels like the same person, not sure about Seagal, since I have only watched his early work, but you could at least make a mock comparison here hehe :P Now i've been thinking, Michael Jai White character,Case Jones from Never Back Down movies, what do you think?
Pedro Rogério
Cant believe i actually watched the hole thing
You have my utmost respect good sir!
I made it to 13.39 yawn...
It's been awhile , this was a very good video you obviously have done a lot od research.I found it quite interesting!
Thanks for checking it out!
I was thinking, that it would be a good idea to do a comparison of two very different martial artist such as Steven seagal and jason statham if you think that is good.
Jamyang Pelsang out of this world amazing Analysis ..
First of, allow me to say you did a fenomenal job here
2:46 Yuri does use his surroundings too: The ropes to bounce off and the corner poles to flip off.
*DONNIE YEN LEARNED WING CHUN IN 9 FREAKING MONTHS!? :-O*
Donnie Yen is the goat after Ip Man
Damn, Jamyang... You simply nailed it, NAILED IT! This is so cool to watch! A balanced and honest analysis considering everything is necessary to win a fight. This is really precious, not the fanboyism we used to see out there...
Please consider to do an analysis of Ko Kong (Wu Jing's character from _Fatal Contact_) against Jun Ma (from _Flashpoint_ Donnie Yen's character). It would be nice.
Great format you choose. Very entertaining and interesting. Keep going.
Thank you! I've been looking for match-ups for Kong Ko and Jun Ma. Since Donnie Yen and Wu Jing have already fought in SPL, I decided to put Jun Ma against Marko Zaror's character from Redeemer. I was considering putting Kong Ko against Isaiah Bone from Blood and Bone since both characters are street fighters but it doesn't seem fair seeing how much physically stronger Bone is....
But Isaiah Bone was a overpowered character, as practically all Michael's action roles... I like Michael but to me he is the new Steven Seagal... Whereas Ko Kong is one of the great fiction fighters with great dexterity in several types of bouts... Wu Jing deserves much much more.
I didn't see _Redeemer_ although watched some fights from it and didn't impress me at all... Jun Ma, despite to be a cop, his style is much like a street fighter, that's why my suggestion.
Anyway, hope you continue with this new project. Maybe monthly or bi-monthly would be a nice period to make one.
Come to think of it. It does seem like MJW does play OP characters in his recent movies. I would still like to find a good match-up with Bone though. Fatal Contact has got same of the best HK fight scenes out there and there's so many fights I could use for an analysis. Similar case with Blood and Bone. Redeemer's fight scenes weren't as good as they could've been but still pretty unique. Marko Zaror is fairly underrated. But sadly as for this series, I probably won't get back to it for a long time considering how busy I'll be with classes soon...
Yeah, Marko needs a Isaac Florentine and a Larnell Stovall in his life to really take off his career. He tried to adapt acrobatic movies probably from fighting games and another unique ones and in _Undisputed III_ he achieved a nice level, with some downsides unfortunately, but still very very impressive performance. I hope we could see him in a breakthrough work yet (and soon).
And good luck with your classes. I know this feeling very well. But as long as the new video of the series come out with that same quality, I would wait for a year, undoubtedly.
very good illustrations!!!!! Thank Uuuu!!
Did I really just watch a 58 min video
I commend you for getting all the way through :D
Cinema X រ
chhay sarun ?
Dude me too. I always watch Jamyang's videos from start to finish. He needs to be get into fight commentary like Joe Rogan. He's unbiased with his analysis and shows a good attitude.
I appreciate you watching the whole video :D And I would actually like to see Joe Rogan commentate on some fictional match-ups like these. Granted he wouldn't care enough to do so haha Given he has a ton of actual martial arts experience, the analysis would be especially intriguing.
Would it be wrong to say that a follow-up kick would nullify the momentum? But we're not discussing science here, are we?
I still love this :)
That was a very thorough breakdown. Im very impressed..
Thank you very much!
great video, keep good work.
I'd like to see you continue this series. Your analysis is exhaustive and sound.
If it was a stand up fight, Movie Ip Man beats Boyka, but since grappling is allowed, Boyka wins
But you forget Donnie yens Ip man can handle grappling he's fought grapplers
Not groundfighting
TheMixedPrince the Japanese General he fought did use some Judo so yeah
The general did not use newaza on Ip Man though.
I believe Boyka still would win if it was strictly stand up largely due to his durability, strength, striking power and His beserker mode.
Your video is not what I expected!
wow man, you worked like crazy to do this vid. I subscribe. you deserve it. Amazing analysis...and fun to watch. Congrats.
Thank you so much! I spent maybe 100 hours just editing it. Countless more to research and write the script. And thanks for subscribing of course :)
you really welcome! The script you wrote got me hook like a good visual novel (with the movie watching) and I was always eager to listen for what you were going to reveal next about my favorite fighters! REally entertaining!
I forced myself to meticulously edit the shit out of this so that everything I said had some scene correspond to it in some way down to the most subtle details. It was quite fatiguing but damn worth it! lol
man, you should work on investigation in the police dept or intel agency! You have the patience and analytic mind necessary for that!
Here's a good one
Mr. Myagi (karate kid 1984) vs Mr Han (karate kid 2010)
IP MAN 4 JULY 2019!?!?!!!!!! WHOOO!!!!!!!
really amazing job! love the subtle sarcasm in a such serious analysis. lol
, me
Odoo
Wow! Nice video, i never seen anything like this before on RUclips. Hope to see more, like maybe Tony Jaa from Ong Bak movie vs Van Damme
Thank you! It's gonna be a long time before I make another one but I have thought of some (imo) good match-ups with some of Tony Jaa's characters at the very least.
I have to agree ip man can kick some ass special he train Bruce Lee how to fight
I freaking love this have you ever done Micheal Jai Whites (Casey Jones) and Tony Jaa (Onk Bak)?
I haven't made any other Martial Royales but that would be definitely be an interesting match-up. Without any in-depth analysis I would say Tony Jaa (Ong-Bak) would take it.
Well thought and explained signature techniques by signature technique employed by each fighter which makes the deduction believable. But weight, size, strength, stamina and age play a big factor in a real match. I was a bouncer in NYC during my younger years and still a martial artist. My experience helps to make such deduction. Thanks for the videos and the analysis. You did an accurate and entertaining job.
Excellent work on the video. Bravo.
Thank you! :D
WHO is WATCHING THIS SHT AFTER WATCHIN THE LASt OF IP MAN
🥰🥰🥰👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Bruce Lee did not use Wing chun at the end, Bruce at the end said the best fight style is to have no style, that is what bruce ment with be like water, if water is in a cup, it becomes the cup, be like water my friend, Bruce would be MMA.
amazingrevelations Bruce couldn't learn even the first form of wing Chun
Bruce lee was MMA>. MMA means mixed martial arts. So obviously it is based on boxing, wrestling and kicking but you can learn and use anything devised by man or woman. IT is allowed as long as it is not too crippling.. Just pure fighting.
Loved this video, huge fan of both characters and their movies. You definitely have to make more. Here’s a list of a bunch of martial artists. (Disclosing Donnie Yen and Scott Adkins)
Bruce Lee
Jet Li
Jackie Chan
Tony Jaa
Iko Uwais
Michael Jai White
Jason Statham
Jean Claude Van Damme
Sammo Hung
Lateef Crowder
Collin Chou
Just a few candidates. Keep up the good work.
Glad that you enjoyed it :D I have a fairly long list of martial arts movie character match-ups which include some of those on that list and a few more. Not sure when I'll get to them though...
Awesome video. Loved how you made it clear it was not "Adkins vs. Yen" nor "MMA vs. Wing Chu". Just the characters. And you explained well why Boyka would win.
Thanks for understanding those points. I had to make sure there was no fanboy bias here lol
First of all, my compliments for the in-depth analysis, it is very good in its own right and holds a great amount of factual value.
I do question the value of speed as many of Boyka's attacks are movie slow. With movie slow being slower than "ur mom" but faster than "your granny," this might also offset Boyka's durability more than completely. In martial arts, having superior speed is one of the essential set of keys to win. Speed also translates to impact power, offsetting difference in muscle power. By calculating arm length, time and arc of travel etc. one might find more energy in a fast punch than a full body swing by calculating kinetic energy. In collision science, speed factors even more than just squared, depending on formula. Ip Man also puts full body motions in hard attacks, again at higher velocity.
Nerfing Ip Man by placing him in MMA conditions could and probably would fix the result in Boyka's win. In a Death Battle, things like eye gouging can and will set Boyka back considerably, while fighting with weapons will be his end as Boyka has too few options to combat an excellence among masters of this art. Taking this into account, their total overall performance as fighters are very close matched.
Then still, I could not do such a good job with the total analysis.
Judging attributes like speed for fictional characters leads to some annoying inconsistencies I must admit lol Boyka's punches have been fast at times but they're also fairly slow about half of the time so based on physics alone that should make him slower. But then again, I associated body mass with strength rather than speed since Ip Man had trouble dealing with somewhat slower strikers like Twister and Mike Tyson's character. Both of which were much larger and still posed a significant challenge. Films are fairly self-contradicting when it comes down to these minute details so I had to go with information that was the most coherent with all available footage. But still an excellent point. Thanks for the input!
Great video, bro!
Now make Rama (iko uwais) vs Ting (Tony Jaa)
Thanks! I considered that but Ting seems too OP for Rama. The Raid is more realistic and Ting seems stronger than Mad Dog who Rama needed help from Andy to beat.
Well, you're right. However, Rama is still being mi favorite martial arts movie character xD
+Jamyang Pelsang It should be noted that by the time Rama faced Mad Dog he had been fighting multiple other opponents with little to no rest time. Mad Dog however only had one prior fight and time to rest, and then some time beating a strung up Andy which could be called little more than a workout. Needless to say, Mad Dog had a lot more gas left in the tank. Rama also later faced and defeated "The Assassin" in The Raid 2 who could be on a similar skill level as Mad Dog
I doubt though. I honestly think mad dog would rape anyone in both the raid 1 and 2. Raid 2's opponents used rather crappy techniques as opposed to the first one.
The Joker (Long time no see!) Mad Dog wasn't perfect either. He started the fight by putting himself between Andy and Rama which is a good way to make life really hard on yourself when fighting multiple opponents and he would sometimes become too focused on one opponent and get blindsided by the other. In other words he was too overconfident and sometimes had tunnel vision.
While most of the opponents in Raid 2 didn't offer much of a challenge, "The Assassin" really was an exception. He kept Rama on his toes through nearly the entire fight and landed some severe hits on him. The main things I would fault him on are that he had a great deal of trouble recovering once Rama won one of the exchanges and when he brought out the knives he actually had difficulty landing cuts on Rama (which is one of my few nit-pick gripes about that fight in general).
But yeah, I think Mad dog vs The Assassin would be a tough match to call
Very interesting and convincing analysis.,
Well presented.
Thanks!
holy shit, great job man
Storywise: Donnie Yen's Ip Man seemed too much like a invincible warrior. Sure he can get hurt, but not to the point when you think he would really lose. Basically. character special treatment in writing. Boyka had his leg broken and got brutally beaten up, even more so than Ip Man. He was at a disadvantaged physical state, but his willpower kept him pushing through.
In skill however: Ip Man's Wing Chun is too restricted to one form. Boyka has an adaptive fighting style; he would probably let Ip Man land a few blows to order to gauge how he fights.
Ip Man got punched in the face by Mike Tyson and in the body several times too, and he was older by then. So Ip Man can take punishment too.
Yeah, but those punches didn't really hinder Ip Man's health. He kept on going as if nothing happened. Boyka fought with a limping leg, that's what punishment should be. Granted in Ip Man 3 ending fight, Ip Man was momentarily blinded, but it didn't affect his fighting ability one bit and he won in a few seconds. Again, he's basically set up to win without challenge.
Well, the movie didn't want Tyson to lose to Ip man. So Tyson asked Ip Man to survive for 3 mins, not beat Tyson in 3 mins. Because everyone knows Ip man will lose. So obviously, Mike was a very difficult challenge and in fact in the long run, the first person to defeat him.
trovuong let him?... could boyka block em? nope, probably not but at the same time he is more offense then defense
so doubt it'd be a concern
Clearly ip man is the stronger fighter by power to weight ratio if he is producing the same power as boyka but with less muscle mass
Ip Man should fight Floyd "Money" Mayweather in the next movie! I think Floyd is the current master of boxing with much skill. That would be interesting.
but most of his wins are technical ko's soooo
Floyd must be challenge by a long distance runner, coz he is a runner not a boxer.
😂 LoL
Bro may weather would get dropped lmao
Ip man / Donnie Yen would kill Floyd Mayweather in a real fight.
Espectacular y vídeo y el análisis gracias y lo publicaste en el dia de mi cumpleaños
Muchas gracias!
thanks for such a excellent job.
Well...this is actually happening. Lol Scott Adkins has joined Ip Man 4. Not as Yuri Boyka of course. But still, a movie with Scott Adkins and Donnie Yen is gonna be dope af. So stoked.
HYPE!
Ohnyeah how dope that would be! Scott Adkins will have to agree to get his ass kicked by Donnie Yen in the movie just to show how superior wing chun is eh? I hope Adkins won't be the antagonist who gets his ass kicked.
@@AMG-ko3gt about that mate
Wait✋...
Is that Jamyang Pelsang's voice🤔?
The one and only ;)
Masterpiece video with such a great knowledge
Thank you!
50:06 I never noticed Ip Man’s eye twitched similar to master lau until now
