You've massively over engineered that chassis guys. You're my kind of people.
😂😂😂 the only way we know how to do things - completely ott! Gotta make sure it will last 😬
Two tech screws per bracket and every other joist would be ample guys. The more holes you put in the chassis, the more opportunities for corrosion. Also might be worthwhile planning your electric and plumbing and running those through the joists at the same time.

@@CampOutWest You won't get 2 tonnes on those bolts through timber.
The timber will be the limiting factor not the bolt.
You'll probably get about 1/10 or 1/20 of the bolt shear load in the timber ie 0.1 or 0.2 tonnes.
@@PreservationEnthusiast thats good to know, so all my fixings added up isn't too crazy then and spreads the force around the timber frame.

This is sooo exciting guys. That insulation is so cosy looking. Good to know you’ll be warm in winter, cool in summer. You’re spirits are up and can see you’re full of enthusiasm. Great work guys. We kept saying how cosy and welcoming the insulation looked and no one animals would want to live in it 😅 beanies are in full force! Apparently it's meant to snow later this week too!
I visited Coaltown Coffee twice recently, whilst working nearby. The girls were great to us the first visit as we arrived around 5 past 4, shortly after closing. They welcomed us in anyway and were very entertaining. We of course visited again and bought plenty of their delicious ground coffee to take home. Well worth a visit...
So good to hear you had such a great experience there. Our candle studio is just across the road from Coaltown so it is our regular spot! We love it there and feel so grateful we got to team up with them for our coffee collab!

Recommend closing the ends of the open steel tubes, to prevent insects and wasps etc., and reduce internal corrosion. You might find ready-made solid plastic hammer-in caps for that.

I was gonna suggest the DPM trick, glad you’ve already decided to use it. It’s a great way of keeping the floor clean and dry till you’ve got the roof on.

Have you thought about the possibility of getting an old marquee tent to cover the build? If you manage to get one big enough, you would still be able to work even when it rains.
Great idea! We've had a look to see if we can get one second hand but struggling to find anything suitable/in budget!
Its gonna be so beautiful once its done! Always better to over engineer too, you never know if you'll want to add weight in 20 years time and both the frame and that slab could probably have a plane parked on them 😆
Having redeveloped a house that needed nearly everything including subfloors - honestly guys keep up the good work, you’ll get there - keep remembering that vision you have for the place and soon enough you’ll be standing outside leaning on a spade reaping the rewards of hard work.

I apologise for the late comment guys as I've been pretty sick with a horrendous chest infection so I've only now fely well enough to get back to normal life aha

MBS is the term used "minimum breaking strain". Screws/bolts will have two figure, tension and shear. Shear much greater than tension for screws.

Tomorrow we are ordering all the wood for our walls and fingers crossed it arrived Tuesday and then we are on our way! Wooohoo!
Next time if you stagger the boards as you go you can use the board themselves to make sure they are going down square. If that makes sense keep it all up guys you are doing great!

@@CampOutWest It’s just cool to see other photographers doing something else with their hands I think. You know like it takes a long time to get competency shooting and so doing other stuff on top of that is cool. I liked the “over engineered” floor i think it’s something you won’t regret doing in the long run.

Nooooooooo!!!! If you haven't already, don't staple the DPM down, that's two holes per staple. Wrap it down the edges and batton it by all means. The phenolic system is great but don't trust it to be completely water tight, especially with your glass wool insulation (sponge) below.
