I remember sleepwalking at a hotel one time, and of course hotel doors lock behind you. One of the best things is actually a motion light. One of the big things I found too is something that wakes you up just enough to get you out of your sleep but not fully awake. Say something like someone snoring or a loud noise in the background but not so loud as to wake you up all the way. The other thing is stress. The overall only true fix I have found is exercising.

Sleep walking is unsettling. Waking up the following morning finding you’ve trashed your house, or destroyed something valuable is confounding. I live alone, which terrifies me, since I sleepwalk at least once weekly. My father did as a child, but grew out of it: I’m 53.

This was wonderful and informative. I'm a 46 year old woman and my husband just saw me sleepwalking for first time. We only lived together for a year . He handled it great but I could see the anxiety on his face when I was finally fully aroused. And I wanted to find something to calm his fears and help us both figure out what it is. Lol he said and I quote " I didn't know what was happening your eyes were open " lol so the ending here was perfect. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Your amazing

Hi dr dev. You said it's benign, but I read that sleep walking in adulthood indicates that you will likely have Parkinson's later in life. is this true?

I'm turning lights on in my sleep for the last 2 nights running a thing my neurologist told me NOT to do. I get migraines they wont respond to pain killers from that and am very annoyed its becoming a habit its my mobile phone lights I'm gonna have to put them in another room at this rate. Something terrified me one night and I suspect I turned on the torch on my mobile I woke to it shining right in my eye I'd turned it on to investigate the noise. I get sick if any lights left and that includes my bedroom light. I don't know how I'm going to stop it. It happened in my old apartment and I'd to actually remove the bulbs to make it stop. I'll be careful of eating food too as overweight and don't need that. I've made hot chocolate and I'm allergic to it gives me cluster headaches. I was mad at my ex boyfriend for leaving it behind. It's a loaded gun. I've warned the people where I'm moving to if they see me eating chocolate stop me immediately.

@@giia6993 it’s exactly like sleeping normally, you just wake up and someone says you did this and that or you notice something different in your room. Some people can see it as a hallucination though, some.
