I stopped dying my hair a couple of years back and it's saved me a ton of money. It actually looks good too! My husband loves the white/silver strands and my natural color strands. It took a while to get used to it in my own mind, but I like it and embrace it now. My mom decided to stop dying hers too (she's 83). She said if I'm not, then she should not. She looks beautiful! ❤
I am 50 and have no grey hair at all, but I know it's coming! I think I'm leaning towards letting it go natural when the time comes. I keep noticing woman in their 50s/ 60s with beautiful silver/white hair. It does not make them look old at all. They look very classy and stylish. I think the trick is having a good haircut more so than the color. I good stylish haircut goes a long way.
@cjhoward409 My hair is thicker and healthier too. The amount of hair that I make a top ponytail now is how much I used to have for a full ponytail! The chemicals aren't good for us! That's what caused me to stop. I'm so glad I did now. 🙂
@penelopeprimrose90 I'm 57, and I was dying my hair about mid 40's. I don't think the white hair makes me look older than my years. But I'm glad my husband is supportive. He grew out his mustache and beard (peppered in white) so that we could match. He's a very young looking 55 with very little gray on his head. I didn't want waitresses asking what my son wanted to order... 🙄🤣 I agree... keeping it well styled helps with the look. I fix mine up a lot.
Thanks to you I've only purchased 3 items of clothing this year and have donated tons to Goodwill! No need keeping things I don't really even like. Through the week I put things on my grocery list then review my list before I go shopping. I usually end up removing several items bc they were just a craving at the time.
That's an AMAZING idea! Thanks for sharing! I can see having a few so everyone can add whatever flavor they want to their drink. Can't decide whether to keep them next to the fridge (where the cold water is) or on the table (where we eat). Decisions, decisions... LOL!
I use glass containers with plastic lids, bought from Target. I noticed they have them back in stock now. They're the Pyrex brand, and go into the freezer or oven just fine. (bring to room temp first)..I don't buy plastic containers for food since they don't hold up. But I've used the Pyrex ones for YEARS.
Right on MM Everything on that table is a necessity and you have the best deal on it all. I was going to buy a deodorant stone on Amazon last week and I stopped myself and looked around the house for any deodorant that I still have telling myself I must use up everything else I already have before I buy another. I found 3 new and one partially used deodorant stick in the house. You inspire me every day
Buy once whenever possible. The cost of soda was (and maybe still is?) stupid high 2 years ago, but my husband wants a little every day. I bought an Aarke soda maker. When the plastic bottle that came with it expired, we switched to metal. I paid $8 for 3 linen cone coffee filters several year's ago. I hand wash them. Have years of use left. I refill my dish detergent bottle from a larger bottle. I refill wirh half soap half water. Silicone baking sheets and cupcake liners vs paper. Been using the same ones for years. Cast iron bakewear Stainless steel cups and mugs. Very few serrated knives. I only buy ones i can sharpen, and they must be full tang. No handles that just fall off one day.
Great tips! I always wait to buy things too. Most of the time it was a want and not a need. I save a lot of money that way. I try to shop in bulk. My goal is no food waste, so leftovers get eaten the next day, or they go into the freezer for another meal. ❤
Hi Dawn! I always love learning from your sweet & short tips. I have one, I dilute my dishwashing liquids, laundry detergents & bleach which reduces buying them to 2X/yr!!! Also my shampoo. Hope this helps you or others❤❤❤
I do this, too, with shampoo, detergent, and laundry detergent. Everything is so thick, you pour too much. I rinse dishes and scrub pots or pans and anything too sticky on burn on. Mostly clothes and dishes come clean. I do buy those items on sell so I have a stockpile.
This is a big one for me...I unsubscribe from all shopping emails/texts. The companies send them to you so you will buy. Your brain says "Oh, I need that!" You don't need that. If you don't see the ads you won't be tempted to buy. It really cuts down my spending a lot. Don't have an inbox full of shopping emails. Get rid of them. And mailed ads? Toss in the recycling bin immediately. Ads are not your friends. They are a tool for advertisers to convince you to spend money on stuff you don't need. They want the money in THEIR pocket. Keep your money in YOUR POCKET.
I buy paper products and things that don't expire in bulk. It's only 2 adults and an infant in my house so I try to be careful what I buy in bulk. I'm also going to try meal prepping when I go back to work to see if that stops me from ordering out.
Holly - You'll LOVE meal prepping, once you get the hang of it. SOOOO nice to have dinners ready to just heat/eat, and not have to figure out 'what's for dinner', if you need any ingredients you're missing, and doing all those dishes every night after you cook. I prep on Sunday, and it only takes a couple hours, and the whole week is DONE! Also, make sure you cook 2-3 different meats or proteins, so you don't eat like chicken for the whole week and get tired of it! Then, make different sides, and you can make lots of combinations so it's not boring. I cook a BIG breakfast on Sundays, and use the leftovers to make breakfast wraps, 'mcmuffins', etc. to freeze and grab during the week if anybody wants them. A crockpot of soup or chili makes lunches a breeze, too. Hope you LOVE all the extra time you'll save (that you can spend with that new baby!). Good luck :)
@pom-momtina6254 thank you for the tips! I am going to have to start meal prepping. I looked at how much I was spending on take out before and it was insane. And most of the time it's not even that good.
I was going to say a crock pot meal started before you leave the house would be nice. and I also agree meal prep is good. Perhaps preparing ready ingredients I.e. cooked hamburger in portions, portion sausage for sauracrout & hash brown or fihitas b/c it would be more flexible. Let’s say in October the cabbage is on sale GBY from Jill
@@hollymoriel375 During covid, I learned that you can find a knock-off recipe to pretty much EVERY restaurant meal you could ever want, then, make it at home for MUCH cheaper than you pay to eat out :)
I had to laugh when you said you watched a video showing kitchen gadgets from Amazon. I did the same thing about organizing containers from Amazon. I put some in my cart and deleted them two days later, lol! I try not to buy containers but recycle sturdy boxes in various sizes. I'll take them apart so I can turn the printed portion on the inside. I did that at my mother's so I could organize under the kitchen sink. She wasn't thrilled to use an old box, but I told her she could spend $30 on a container if she wanted. It suddenly looked much better, lol. I love seeing the cleaning items you like to use. I do use some generic items, but I won't give up my Sensodyne. Love to all, Linda 💕
Just a tip but any sort of lemon mix isn't likely healthy. You can substitute with Green Tea and add 1/2 of a squeezed lemon. I book our Sun Tea jar a few days ago so I need to get another at a thrift store.
me and my guy are always saying how long have we had that, then I'll say seven years and then he'll say three years, .LOL, one thing that is super great is the lavender soap at the dollar store, it's antibacterial, works great.
I buy 2 ply Kroger toilet paper. Never have had any plumbing problems. It is more economical and I use less to get the job done. Scott 1 ply is to expensive ! ❤❤❤
Great tips Money Mom. I agree with you about Sensodyne. I've tried other cheaper versions and ended up with sensitivity pain. I'm going to try and stop dyeing my hair (if im brave enough) It's only about £80 per year but thats better in my pocket than in L'Oréals. Love your channel ❤
I buy in bulk at Costco. I love their $4.99 rotisserie chickens. They are large and one chicken will give me a week's worth of meals. I use the carcass to make bone broth instead of buying it. I am done with trying cheap products and stick with quality products. Typically you will use less of the quality product than the cheap stuff and it works better. I seldom will have any pop or bottled drinks. I make my own ice tea and sweeten it with stevia and also like using flavored teas. Sometimes I will use an herbal tea bag along with black or green tea. I also use mint from my garden to flavor it. I love pork which is very reasonable. I have my freezer full of loins that were $1.99 per lb. I split them into 1 lb. hunks and love making it in my air fryer. I cut one the other night into 1" boneless chops and made them in the air fryer. In 10 minutes they came out perfectly cooked and very juicy and tender. I also use pork to make chili instead of beef and love it. When traveling in MO I found this super nice spice shop in St. Charles that sells tea, spices. and bouillon in bulk. I order online and have used their items as gifts. oldtownspices.com/ Actually I do about 98% of my shopping online. Many times I order for local pickup. That keeps me from wandering through the stores and making unplanned purchases. I use the reviews to tell me whether a purchase is worth making. The smart phone is the handiest device and I don't know how people do without it. I use the Kroger app to shop the store. It gives me the price, coupons to click on, and it totals the purchase before I shop. It also tells me what aisle the product is on, if it is low in stock, and when a coupon expires. There is an app called Buy Me A Pie. I put in the places where I normally shop like Home Depot, CVS, Costco, etc. and use it to make a shopping list of what I need to pick up at each store. It keeps track of those items so they can be crossed off the list and added back easily when needed again.
Netflix raised their monthly rates for single use without commercials from $10 to $17 a month-before tax. $7 with tax for single with commercials and honestly-there's only one short commercial during your show. I have a generous friend who works for Bath & Body who treats me to a lot of hand soap, lotions and candles.
I also like the Scott brand of one ply toilet paper and never have plumbing issues. After I discovered the great value Walmart brand of one fly that is saving me a lot of money versus the name Brand Scott
I had to stop drinking sodas due to gastritis. Aldi's has a great sugar free tropical fruit punch powder for $1.79 - delicious ❤ it gets you a few liters each box. I buy lots of things from The Dollar Tree.
Aldi also has green tea and green tea with lemon, tea bags, 20 bags for about $125.00. I can make 4 pitchers of tea with 1 package. This is great for us! Plus we like it better than the bottled tea! 🙂👍
