When a Junior in high school during 1960s in Los Angeles, my friends parents who were major stockholders in Star-Kist Tuna purchased this model and the 300 SL drop head coupe. At the time I thought them both somewhat bazar yet beautiful. My friend was given the 300 SL as a gift upon graduation. He in short order traded it for a Thunderbird 4 place convertible even-Steven and considered himself quite the negotiator. I thought,,"What a dolt!"
It absolutely destroys the bentleys and the silver clouds. Absolute overrated british garbage. They didnt make any good cars up until they were bought by vw and bmw.

I drove one once. It was solid but clearly ponderous. But not as much of a handful as the contemporary RR/Bentley.
