Although the band carried on in the 80s and beyond with various singers, it never felt the same as in Black Sabbath's 70s heyday. Black Sabbath truly was Iommi, Osbourne, Butler and Ward. No other lineup has ever had the same chemistry as these four guys had in their prime.

Yea, well had Ozzy stayed and recorded with them through the 80's they certainly would not have sounded like they did in the 70's. That's obvious from the last two albums they did with him and Bill Ward. Zeppelin either, see Rush in the 80's, or Uriah Heep.

With two older brothers Sabbath was the soundtrack of my youth. Along with Zeppelin, Priest and Aerosmith. I had to screen my guests as early as 4th grade. If I brought someone home from school I would have to announce whether they were 'cool' or not so my brothers and their friends would know if they had to hide their weed. I learned eventually to keep my circle of friends pretty tight. Musically that early influence stuck with me til this day. Not so much the weed.

  • @theoriginalchefboyoboy6025

I am soooo glad I watched this. Sabbath are one of my icons, touchstones, for what it meant to grow into a young man and then an older man. I didn't know then how they suffered for their art, as we all know now how many artists produced arguably their best work while off their nut albeit chemically induced. I had the nice opportunity to cook dinner for Sabbath many years ago as part of the backstage catering for an OzzFest appearance by the band and I was surprised to see that a few of them requested vegan food! I guess part of their awakening and individual change. From watching this I now understand why Bill chose not to be part of the last tour, which was sad - he simply didn't need to. God Bless Black Sabbath and Never Say Die!!!

I’m like ok 👍 that’s great but i also came here to see the headlining act “Heaven & Hell” which featured Ronnie James Dio~Tony Iommi,Geezer Butler & Vinny Appice & without this band i said to my son there most likely wouldn’t be a ][v][EGADET][-][ & DOWN if not for “Black Sabbath” which as most know featured Tony Iommi & Geezer Butler but Ronnie James Dio played a massive part as well. I’m glad i forced my son to stay & watch “Heaven & Hell” because he was very impressed by them & it was so cool how they opened their show with this weird slow guitar bit & dark, dark blueish type of colour on Dio & then “BA…BOOOM!!” Geezer & Appice start out with this ground pounding bit & Appice has this enormous drum kit with cymbals up high & a big gong behind him & he would do this thing to make his whole drum kit rock back & forth & you think it’s going to fall over but it doesn’t & the camera on the screens shows Vinny Appice’s face up close & he has this evil angry look on his face while smashing his skins 🤘 there is a “Heaven & Hell” dvd from the mid to late 2000’s from New York @ the “Radio City Music Hall” which is an amazing dvd imo.
