- When asked which one of his movies he liked the most, Hitchcock always pointed to “Shadow of a Doubt”, filmed in Santa Rosa, California. Hitch felt that it represented the classic all-American town, the perfect place to film a thriller.
Here’s a tour of filming locations from this classic movie, all found in Santa Rosa.
The locations visited on this tour are:
1) Downtown Santa Rosa, centered around Old Courthouse Square where all the downtown scenes were filmed, including the establishing shots of Santa Rosa.
2) The beautiful family home found at 904 McDonald Avenue in the old historic district of Santa Rosa, where the house featured prominently in the movie and been meticulously preserved.
3) The old Santa Rosa Train Station, which bookends the movie. This is the location where Uncle Charlie arrives and then leaves Santa Rosa. It also has been wonderfully preserved almost exactly as it appears in the movie.

I used to live in Santa Rosa and I remember the old Court house. Been to the train station, and the homes in the downtown area. Those were great days.
Your location videos are beautifully assembled. Thank you for making them!
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
Exceptional detail. Congrats
Thanks!
@@Protokino i have some questions for you, if you want to answer them,
q1 are you going to return to doing fan edits any time in the far away future?
q2 what video editing program do you use to edit your videos?
q3 how long has your you-tube channel been around for?
@@alexkinney9641 a1) by fan edits you mean like "Invasion Battle for Earth"? I'm not sure if I'll do more, my current computer system isn't up to the task, and so my interests are taking me elsewhere right now. a2) I use Adobe Premiere , but I used to edit with AVID and Final Cut Pro 7. a3) since 2007.
Thank you- appreciate the time and effort made to create this "Shadow" location review, and so would Hitchcock!
High praise! Thanks!
Neat video! The courthouse being gone and the subsequent kind of sad “redevelopment” is a real shame.
Yes, indeed. However, it apparently had to be done following a major earthquake in the 1960s, when some of the older buildings were damaged. Having been there I can say that Santa Rosa circa 1943 looks way more interesting!
@@Protokino hi there dude i been working on a model of the mothership orbiter killer for "invasion battle for earth" im possibly going to post it on thingiverse soon, i hope you like it
Thx for another great video!Greetings from cologne, germany.
Danke!
I really enjoyed your tour of Santa Rosa! Well done. It’s the first time I’ve seen your work…I look forward to exploring the others.
Thank you so much!
One of my favourite of Hitchcock's. It was also Hitchcock himself's personal favourite of all his films.
This is great, thank you! Just passed through and we stopped at a few locations that were no longer there, like the library and the church in the final scene. But it's great to see the house still standing.
That’s awesome!
Very cool as always!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very cool, Shadow of a Doubt is my favorite Hitchcock film
Great job, love it! Greets from Germany
Danke! Thanks for watching!
good job.. thank u 4 your hard work..😊
I love that movie uncle charlie joseph cotten,, hitchock said that his favorite movie,is shadow a doubt ,,house still there 👍,
This is cool, a shame some of these icons may no longer exist in the future.
Question do you have any plans on making the invasion 6 parts 1 single video in the future?.
Yes, that's one reason for these videos to archive the sites before they disappear. Luckily some locations are protected, like the train station and house in Santa Rosa. No plans right now to make Invasion into a single video. You may like my other channel: Retro-Edits. It not only has "Invasion" but a bunch of other mash ups.
Hi. Do you know the name of the church that was shown in the movie ? Thank you.
Where was the old city hall?
