This is without a doubt one of the greatest floor routines of all time. The acrobatics, the dance, the virtuosity, beyond simple words.
Also, Daniela tumbled INTO the fulltwisting double back; she does roundoff whip flick into full-in which is MUCH harder. This is astonishing and incredible and truly one of the best pieces of athleticism and artistry ever combined, the likes of which we will, sadly, never see again:(
Very few athletes before or since Silivas could command an audience and get their support so quickly. Daniela was captivating. So special
The best floor routine EVER! I could watch it again and again (and I do). Artistry, difficulty, grace...and she does it with such ease. Dani never ceases to amaze me.

I love this routine to bits; one of my favourites EVER. That Romanian team in 1987 were just dynamite. Whenever I see Nastia doing her floor routine now, I always think of Dani, because of the music:)

This routine definitely deserved its ten. The music, her artistry and expression, the difficulty....plus I've seen her perform this same routine at the same championships and stick that last pass exactly. And remember, the judges threw tens around like crazy back then and the previous 2 Romanian girls were also given tens so they kind of HAD to give Daniela one too.
I remember watching this live, just before becoming a competitive gymnast myself, so inspirational. One of my favorite routines ever.

I love this exercise soooooooo much, the first pass is the best I've ever seen. Daniela, you were such an amazing gymnast, the best ever.
Balletics, dance, tumbling and gymnastics. My most favourite routine ever. Next best clip for me is the Title against Elena in the 1988 Olympics. I was glued to the tv as the girls are similar age to myself. Big fan of 80s gymnastics.
I believe she gave her leotard in the very clip to her daughter Ava, another up and coming name to watch.

It is up there with Olga's Uneven Bars and Nadia's Beam among the greatest moments in gymnastics. One of those "wow" moments.

mary gh Whip to full in on the first pass, TWO double fulls punch front for her second pass, and another full in for the last. I don't know how with Daniela Silivas, Aurelia Dobre, Camelia Voinea, Ekaterina Szabo, Celestina Popa and Eugenia Golea, the Russians still managed to beat the Romanians that year. Voinea did a perfect double layout punch front.
Vette gaddia Actually the russians didn't beat them. Romania won the gold medal in Rotterdam, becoming world champions.
+Vette gaddia Huh? Romania upset the Soviets. This competition didn't really go as well as the Soviet Union had hoped as Shushunova's golds on the Vault & Floor Finals were the only gold the Soviets won. AA, Dobre gold. UB, Thuemmler (GDR) and Silivas gold; BB, Dobre; FX, Silivas & Shushunova.
This for me was the best floor routine Daniela ever did. Awesome!
i’m more mesmerized by how beautiful her ballet technique is. it really is in the small details where Silivas shines
So true. I think with the new code of points, we won't be seeing this again. It really makes me sad- it's just not prioritized anymore.
@@carascottvo You're soo true! Unfortunately😢. Today's routines are just boring. OK, many of them are difficult, too. But there is no longer the joy and the enthusiasm of the girls. I miss Dobre, Raducan, Podkopayeva, Boginskaya, Shushunova, Szabo, Najmuchina, Davydova and many others. They had created little pieces of art. Time hasn't changed for the better since then...🥺

In italian language Gymnastics is translated into "Ginnastica Artistica". This is not only an acrobatic exhibition. there is a taste that makes it... artistic and beautiful. Thank you Daniela

WOW!!!!!!! i am impressed!!!!!!! i dont know all the elements and their difficulty BUT it is impressive!!!!!! and in between all the "jumps and twists in the air" great "dancy" movements. LOVE IT:)

This was a time when artistic gymnastics was still exactly that, artistic. It is still an amazing sport but the artistry has had to give way for difficulty sadly. I love gymnastics between 1985-1989, in my opinion it was the greatest years for AG... I can watch Daniela's FX over and over as well. She had it all!
I think this was the best form Silivas was ever in. She was so well-conditioned, legs always straight, jammed together, toes pointed and the height of her tumbling. Fantastic!

you know I was just looking at the video and (why)? Silivas was so great and i just had eye opening experince,,, watch her first pass whip thru to 2 back handsprings full in pike ok now WATCH the landing postion,, she lands and that moment when she lands she takes a pause the slowley salutes the judeges with the arms going back and its FUCKING AWESOME i have never since here in 2012 seen a gymnast do this its SOOO controlled and relaxed and (meant to do that) LOL

Yes, Aleftina Pryakina USSR did the double-double in 1986, but she never competed at Worlds or Olympics, so it was named after Silivas.

@Shakeshack78 The beginning is similar to Nastia's floor music from 2008. "Dark Eyes" if I'm not mistaken. The second part is from Gina Gogean circa 1994.

I don't mean the men and women nowadays are no less artists but it is all about the difficulty and they have to throw in so much difficulties and all these different elements there is no room for dancing anymore, makes me a bit sad. But I love watching it still!!!

I think some of the beauty of the movements are lost in this Olympic setting. But anyway, amazing !

Is anyone with me? I think this routine deserved more than a 10. Now days, bitches are scoring in the 15’s with far less choreography and difficulty. I would have scored this a 16!

The first runs of the music here was the music used in Nastia Liukin's '08 Beijing floor exercise.
She is awesome...but I do find it odd to see that this routine is even better than her Olympic floor routine. I don't think she was suffering from any injuries at the Olympics to my knowledge and you think you would throw all the difficulty you can muster in the all-around at the Olympics...this was more difficult.
today's power gymnasts should really take notes from routines like this one...
