Dude I was 17 when I heard this. Miss these days of just getting lost finding these artists / songs on the internet. 34 now, married, have a 6 year old….still rocking to this, now with my daughter. Time and life are weird but these songs bring everything into perspective.
This song helped me appreciate my commute back in my bus days. I listen to this song all these years later and it still fills my soul like it did back then. Blue Scholars always humble.
i discovered them when i was 14. i’m 24 now. ten years later, i drove around downtown seattle late last night and listened while i looked at all the city lights. it was almost sacred. so god damn beautiful. we want more music boys!
wow, 8 years ago this song was put out. I'm now 21 and I remember when this first was released. I was 13 and it feels just like yesterday, that I was putting my ear buds in and longboarding. thanks for the music, it helped me grow.
I just came back to it too after listening to them every day growing up. 23 and the way the country's lookin' it hit harder than it did even back then.
Right on Ryan. Jealous you had the experience that young and listening to when it first dropped! That’s awesome. I just turned 25 yesterday but have been listening to this since 19 years old. So good and heart warming in times of trouble. God bless everybody
my favorite song of theirs, recently just got the line "The Northwest fills the lungs, heals the pain in my chest" tattooed on my arm, reminding me of seattle and my life there
Still here after 15 years man. This song brings back so many memories when I was in 9th grade getting over a break up and taking the bus to school. Things dont change much, im on the trolley in san diego getting over another break up but life goes on, im haplier than ever and i give thanks that i can still use my brain and still breathe with a son now. THANK YOU LORD FOR ALL THE BLESSINGS BESTOWED UPON ME, IM GRATEFUL AND HUMBLED BY YOUR WAYS, IM NEVER ASHAMED TO GET ON MY KNEES FOR THE LORD THANK YOU FOR THIS LIFE AND THANK YOU FOR THE HARD TIMES THAT MADE ME WHO I AM TODAY AND CONTINUE TO MOULD MY CHARACTER. FOREVER YOUNG AND FOREVER BLESSED MUCH LOVE! FROM THE 619 TO THE 310 TO MEXICO THE 664 TIJUANA. ITS ONLY LIFE PEOPLE, LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST AND AS BEST AS YOU CAN. MAKE THE BEST OUT OF EVERYTHING EVEN IF YOU FIND YOURSELF IN A SHITTY SITUATION, BELIEVE THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL AND YOU WILL BE BLESSED WITH LIGHT. 🙌
Man..cant explain how much this song touches me; makes me think about all those different characters you see when living in a big city (anywhere in the world) - much love to Blue Scholars all the way from London!
Rap is Rhyme And Poetry. blue scholars know that. this s real rap i love this. no one appreciates stuff like this anymore. beat and melody and watever yeah its good. but Lyrics is heart. Real rap= real love. Peace
Born and raised from souf Seattle when I go back to listen to these songs just a rollercoaster of memories I was like 14 or 15 listen to back home Joe metro and my personal fav coffee and snow man life was so good back then in the 206 nothing can compare to how Seattle used to be but when you listen to their songs it just takes you back to the good times
2022...still here listening. I've first heard of them from my brother in 2010 when I lived in California. Been living in Seattle for 5 years now and it's still music to my ears.
As I stood there with my 3 on my chest and 3:03 on the clock 😅 ✌️ Who knew that'd we'd still be on Top ?! This is crazy! One love Seattle ! See you at the movies! 😅 Xo Joe DRT THA GURU on all platforms 💚 #rojo forever.
Honestly, i just want to say thank you to the Blue Scholars. If i ever had the chance to meet them, id just say thanks for giving young men and women the oppurtunity to listen and know real music in this era. Its hard to find, and thankfully those reading this are lucky like me to be hearing this :).
This is real hip hop and lyrical poetry. Amazing song and matches Seattle's personality and the Northwest. Much respect to Geo and Zia, from the 253 to the 206. Pinoy Pride!!
I don't ever really comment on videos, but I feel this may be one of the greatest rap songs of all time. It takes alot of skill to make a song that has so much meaning behind the lyrics while just writing about the sights and people you see on the public bus.
If you like this song, you should check out the album it was on. Bayani (meaning "words from the people") is a seriously underrated album. Bought it when it came out because my record dealer guy recommended it, and it was worth every penny. Still got the cd in my car and it still gets a lot of plays weekly!
I got a homeboy I work with at my warehouse job in Kent that just got signed to Sport'N Life. That's so awesome, how I see comments flowin' out of the northwest, to come at one place on the net, and it be on a Blue Scholars video. This is the shit right here, the people and our Seatown is what makes our area the scene.
They haven't released a date or anything yet, they have been keeping it really low key. If you haven't checked out their latest album "cinemetropolis" yet, I would do that though!
Why cant this be #1 on all main stream radio! There is so much more music out there instead of the same 20 sings they play all day lol. Great music guys always.
Been 8 years since I found blue scholars music and I am just now hearing this amazing song? Couple weeks ago I found an original cd of the self titled blue scholars album in Portland🤙🏼
I moved away from home when I was just 18. Now every time I hear any of Blue Scholars, I cry a lil bit and keep working to go home. My fiance and I are both from wa. Hes from capital hill n I'm from the beach
Man I love the Blue Scholars.I'm about to go watch them tonight for freeeee. Can't wait. They're one of my all time faves!!!Im not from Seattle but man, watchin this makes wish I was haha
dude, this is blessed flow with a sic beat backing it . . . it's priceless, i write this, our lives are in crisis, most talk but don't walk, the path of the righteous . . .oooohhh my
the northwest is where it's at. clean air, green trees, culture, music, it's just the best. and the day has just begun so keep vibing and let the music take control and guide your thoughts and ways. 206 for life ya'll, love it.
Ok... all tongue-in-cheekiness aside. The definition of racism that we all have become accustomed to using, is based on the concept of differential treatment that occurs within a system of differential privilege. (I hope this makes sense.) I am trying to explain why a white guy complaining in a rap song about what a minority group member is doing is totally different than a member of a minority group doing the same thing. It is because the white guy is a member of a MAJORITY. And the argument that now there are more minorities than white guys and therefore the white guys who were the majority are now the minorities, commits so many argument fallacies, you don’t even want me to list them all! My point is that: for a white guy to complain that he is upset about the Blue Scholars ethnic singer rapping about racism because if a white guy raps about an ethnic person, then he is called a racist, is not reasonable, does not make sense, is not a valid argument. Because the argument suggests that a white guy and an ethnic guy are equal and so an argument can be made reversing the roles. But they aren't equal things. The white guy is often born into better circumstances, is treated better socially, and treated better within the workplace and by the law and educational systems, and represented as the “norm” and the “better” guy to be by the media. So he has a lot of pluses working on his side. Whereas, an ethnic minority guy, especially African-, Mexican-, and Native- American guys, have a much greater chance of being born into a less advantageous environment, have a higher chance of being treated badly and/or unfairly within society, as well as the workplace and by the legal and educational systems, and has been represented within the media as being “odd” and the guy you don’t want to be, though this has begun to change the last 20 years or so. So, you cannot argue from a position that erases the very historical position and effect of racism in America.
Your attitude is based entirely off corrective action. And it's 100% biased and one sided. I read the whole thing but basically wrote you off as uninformed halfway through your comment. The whole point of equality is EQUAL. You are literally saying "this group of people can rap about this, BUT THIS OTHER GROUP CAN'T.", That is like the definition of racism.
That is a dangerous thing to say darkmaitri . You are right, nobody is going to argue that ethnic minorities haven't always had a hard time in America. This is not something that only happened to people of color. The Irish and Italians were strongly discriminated against as well don't forget. That is not the point though, times have changed and there ARE opportunities for EVERYONE. In my field, if there are two applicants for the same job that are equally qualified and one is white and the other is not, the ethnic applicant will likely get the job. Diversifying the workplace has been on the rise and will continue to stay that way. Kids growing up in today's America don't see racism first-hand. Telling them these things will do them no benefit and might discourage them from pursuing their dreams. This is America, and it truly is the land of opportunity.
Feels like I could listen to this and get the same feeling riding the train around SF. Sucks my ipod got stolen but I can still drive around and listen to it. Please come to the bay soon, Geo and Sabzi
ive listened every single kind of hip hop today you could imagin, from u-n-i, camron tyler the creator, kanye, wutang, talib, hova, waka, pac, big, wiz, big sean, wale, big krit, theopolous london, dom kennedy and NOTHING makes me have a better feeling than seattle hip hop. just bein honest. i feel honored to be from 206, real shit.
I remember when I was still listeing to mainstream crap. I was just beginning to wake up and I started to get into real hip hop, real music. When I heard this, I was completely into it. A few years on from that I've come back to the same video. It's crazy. This is the exact video I watched. Memories. This is beautiful. True hip hop.
Still hope we get to see a new blue scholars album. They hade something special, and this song sums up the feels there music gave us. Stay humble and kinde.
Im from Houston and I love this type of music, Brother Ali and Blue Scholars been my favorite rapers because this is real rap, not that bullshit they play on the radio. THis is the most chillest music i've ever heard.
It's priceless, I write this, our lives are in crisis Most talk but don't walk the path of the righteous The feeling when this line is said is incredible. Perfect song, perfect video.
eyes weary from lack of the cousin of death.... this song is just.... so refreshing. this video makes everything about Seattle beautiful, and the lyrics are so true and have meaning. Blue Scholars keep going.
I've been listening since I was young and I just gotta say thanks. Bayani and cinematropolis are probably the most impactful albums I've ever heard and they've been the soundtrack to a lot for me.
When you get back from a long ass day, tired as hell, stressed out and just sick of it all, pop some Blue Scholars in your favorite music player, close your eyes and let those rhymes take you somewhere else. This is therapy my friends.
"Have a good day you foreigners..." Love it. Taking it back to "Common Sense" and Chicago. Saw you on Mnet in NYC and decided to add it to the playlist.
Incredible video, beautiful color bleaching, and this song is awesome because it so perfectly speaks to people who take public transport every day. Excellent street shots. Great work!
this song isnt just about homeless people. this shows the spirit of the Pac NW. i recognized some of those places. they filmed this at home, not at some highend filming studio. the buses are how seattle metro buses look. A great story combined with an incredible beat and delivery of verses makes for an awesome song. i feel lucky to live in the NW.
Been over a decade since discovering this beautifully humble song, and still enjoy revisiting it to this day. Will we ever hear more from Blue Scholars? Is Geo still active? I miss & cherish this music dearly.
This is a creative song. Such a great duo. Geo is a true poet. Amazing. And Sabzi's beats are all so dope! Im diggin the gospel-like clap in the beat. Like my man below said. Welcome back hip hop.
I just got out of lock up here in kansas. I spent alot of time in Seattle back and forth. Workin and what not. While locked down ya'llzez music been in my mind the whole time. Keep it up ya'll. This quality shit!

Dude I was 17 when I heard this. Miss these days of just getting lost finding these artists / songs on the internet. 34 now, married, have a 6 year old….still rocking to this, now with my daughter. Time and life are weird but these songs bring everything into perspective.

i discovered them when i was 14. i’m 24 now. ten years later, i drove around downtown seattle late last night and listened while i looked at all the city lights. it was almost sacred. so god damn beautiful. we want more music boys!

Man, listening to this in my early 30's hits different.

Damn, this is still such a powerful song. With the changes in Seattle over the last decade or so, the lyrics really hit home.
Rap is Rhyme And Poetry. blue scholars know that. this s real rap i love this. no one appreciates stuff like this anymore. beat and melody and watever yeah its good. but

Geo said in an interview that they are working on a new one right now!
Jordan Carr Really? That would be awesome! Do you any other information, maybe release date or sth?
They haven't released a date or anything yet, they have been keeping it really low key. If you haven't checked out their latest album "cinemetropolis" yet, I would do that though!
Jordan Carr Heard it already, but thanks anyway. I hope we will hear something new in 2015 :)
They are keeping the good hip hop alive!
Jordan Carr Cinematropolis is almost as brilliant as Bayani...damnm close!

The whole point of equality is EQUAL. You are literally saying "this group of people can rap about this, BUT THIS OTHER GROUP CAN'T.", That is like the definition of racism.
he's hawaiian tho, so he is kind of a minority
