I have watched this entire series over the past few hours and I honestly have to say... This has been breathtaking. Everything from your personality to your craftsmanship has been magical to watch. From the very beginning, I knew this was one of those series that i've been craving. An informal and personal view of a master craftsman at work; most of the videos available of woodwork, blacksmiths or even pottery feel too clinical and demonstrative. This has been a progression and evolution. Watching you stumble and adapt, and the whole growth from the design stages to the finishing touches have been inspiring. And as I've been with you on the journey from kit to creation (albeit almost a year late), I feel like I've just witnessed the birth of a child, without the horrific aftermath. I am both proud and humbled, and it has been an honour. Genuinely a heartfelt thank-you from a curious nobody with too much time. You have made a mark.
Thank you very much, your kind words mean a lot. This is exactly the reason we continue to make videos, to inspire and to teach in the most honest and real way we know how.
Took a Great Kit Guitar, made it Awesome, so now it's time to make it Mindblowingly Epic. Please keep making videos working on this beautiful piece of luthier art!
I'm going to miss this series. Was hooked from the beginning, caught every episode. Very creative approach to the build, way outside the box. You're just fueling my guitar building disease, thanks for that.
And a guitar is born, congratulations to the proud Dad for producing such a wonderful instrument. This has been the most absorbing set of videos I have ever watched on You Tube. Well done to you, I hope one day I can purchase a guitar from Crimson.
Wow. I've never watched a nut cut by hand like this. I've been working with wood all my life, but watching a nut completely done up from nil was impressive!
Definitely a master at work. There are great builder's out there but Ben is by far the top dog with idea's & style. Beautiful guitar mate. You truly are a genius.
Ben... I just found this series a few days ago. Binge watched through it. What an amazing build. I think you might cry when you have to give it away :D I would. Thanks for the inspiration.
The guitar aside, I have to say that I just love the production of these videos. Great filming of the building process, nice effects like slo-mo to highlight certain steps. Just a pleasure to watch.
Ben. YOU have to admit that has to be the best Guitar you’ve ever built. Absolutely fantastic. So many people are going to want this Guitar and so many people will be saying to the lucky new owner Wow where did you get that. Your Bloody amazing
It kills me that I discovered your channel in Aug '18... this is masterful luthiery and woodworking skills. I look forward to many more videos from you sir.
I am so sorry dude, just missed this one.. However, there will be many many more to come! Thanks for your support. B Ps check out the 12 hour build series, it's one of my favourite, i kept the guitar!
in your first vid i never imagined somebody could do something so cool, this guitar truly is awesome, i wouldnt be able to give it away and wouldnt blame you for keeping it. very impressive sir, cheers for sharing
You know? There are so many people who at some point doubted this build. I didn't. I honestly after having seen every single build you've done. Knew the end result would be perfect.
I was skeptic even till ep17 but this episode with the LEDs and the finish being cured. OMG. I don't dont want this series to end. It's like watching GOT of guitars or something.
There were a few times during this build that I was sure Ben was nuts. But it turned out absolutely amazing. REALLY makes me wish I'd had the money and wish list to get my name in the running. Truly awesome, congrats.
I had recently caught the bug of building guitars - starting with a Jem clone and a Les Paul burst finish. But this is on a whole new level and gives me ideas that I can actually achieve. You're deviously hilarious, my friend. And you've inspired me to let my creativity loose. Next one will be a doosey! And I'll repay you by getting my kits from you.
Just a tip for the soldering: Tin your stuff, and then have the two leads twisted together so they're able to stay together through mechanical action alone. And *then* solder them. It'll really strengthen the joint. Not only will the solder hold 'em together, but the position of the leads themselves will prevent 'em from pulling apart through errant tugs.
I have really enjoyed watching you build this guitar. I really should be studying rheumatology, but I keep getting drawn back to your build. Binged your videos.
I made a purchase. I hope it gave me an entry into possibly winning this guitar. I've never been more inspired to build something on my own as i am after watching this entire build. I don't have a workshop of my own yet but I'm working for it. Anyway you've created something beautiful and unique and I can only dream about holding it in my hands but someday maybe I will. Just keep up the good work and never give the haters even a moment. I fully support what your doing here just keep up the amazing work which I know you will cause crimson!
This guitar is gorgeous! If you guys do the limited run of these you should try and put a diffuser over the LEDs to spread the light in the cavity more evenly, though a drawback to consider is that the light is a little bit dimmer.
Ben this guitar is one of the coolest guitars you have built, You are a Super Genius**** I dont know how you can part with it. I certainly hope I win that work of art.. Thanks from America
Man it's awesome...I've been entirely watching this episodes for almost whole day..loved your creativity and the hard work and you have been too challenging for this stuff's...hats off...really a pro you are....Thankyou for filming this video I love to watch more....
I have been anticipating every episode of this build. And rewatch a lot of them after. This guitar is absolutely beautiful. What amazing work good sir. It really isn't somthing i would have thought i would like but the craftsmanship and execution are top notch. I would rock that thing till it fell apart! Haha
Flipping amazing mate....i love it that you chose body mount, i dislike pickup surrounds immensely, What a guitar.....you are 1 talented man....thankyou for the inspiration, Dave.
Thanks for staying an showing us the strung guitar. It's beautiful, your videos are quickly becoming my favorite way to slack off at work or even at home for that matter. I do all the upgrades on my guitars and will build one of my own soon so these videos have been very helpful these past few years.
Dude your craftsmanship is amazing!!! I don’t play guitar 🎸 but you have made me buy 3 of them and build them so I can sell them !! I’m a master carpenter and I will make them insanely gorgeous but you have given me that inspiration!!! Thank you !!! 🙏
started out on the first video, couldn't stop watching until #18; WOW! makes me wonder how it plays. I bet its Great! Thanks for the education by the way! Ta
Love the near-finished product and the passion that has gone into your creation. Beautiful work of art! I've wanted a green LP for years and if I had the money I'd be after one of the 10 finished with Green stain & gold hardware (gold leafing for the circuit effect). Prob red LEDs to compliment the green.
I have been watching your videos for a long time, because I love your enthusiasm, your honesty, and the way you show the creative thought process (as well as the practical process). I don't play guitar, but this series has made me determined to make my own guitar, and to learn to play it. Thanks so much! :)
That has to be one of the most amazing looking guitars I have ever seen! Simply stunning, beautiful and a work of art. The color works with the wood stunningly and watching through the episodes, the craftsmanship you apply to the guitar is top notch. Extremely creative, but of course from watching your videos I’d have to say that you apply creativity and artistic ability to each and every one, no matter how simple they may appear. Thank you so much for sharing your skill and ideas with all of us. Cheers!
Thank you, future projects will not have such a strict deadline. Can't wait to finally bring the 90 Hour build to RUclips. That will be an extensive series. :D
It would have been cool to have laminated a thin piece of plexi in the seam of the guitar for the LED to shine through... awesome build, I learn much every time I watch a video of yours. Truly excellent content.
Yes. In retrospect, it might have been an idea to work out the LED mounting BEFORE glueing the hollowed out section back to the body. But that's the problem... The Retrospectoscope™ The only infallible scientific tool in existence!
Great series -- entertaining, and I learned a lot. I love how much you enjoy all of those things I just don't have the patience for. Now, you know in your heart of hearts that that guitar needs a body-color-matched flame maple truss rod cover, right? Also, custom machined hexagonal aluminum knobs. And you're right: LEDs in the neck. You keep saying you want to keep it, right? All you have to do is never quite finish it -- always one more thing!
Ben all I can say is wow, I hope it plays as well as it looks, can’t wait to hear it, when you first started out and throughout the project I often said to myself here we go again Mr indecisive, but I was wrong, for because of your indecisions and changes of mind in the end it meant you got it right, I know there is still a few more finishing touches to be done, but it won’t deter from what is already something beautiful, It will only add to it. One last thing though, that you need to do! Like all works of art they need a title or name, so give this beauty one.
@@CrimsonCustomGuitars I'd love to do one of your guitar building courses, there's bugger all like that nearer to London and too low a budget for travel/accomodation. I did a kit build guitar a few years ago which STILL needs tweaking and adjusting even now
Anyone else think it'd be great to have him document a build like this (or different) with no deadline and just him doing everything he wants ? I sure do !
"There has to be a better way" look up 'attiny85' and ws2801 LED strips. Programmable colour fades, breathing effects, to name the simple ones are all possible
ITS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! I think I speak for a lot of people when I say please do feel free to spend an extra 50 hours on it haha!! Not only do I really hope I win this amazing beast, but I've also really enjoyed the series and I kind of don't want it to end hahaha!!!!
I have to say, I like this happy compromise of Ben narrating and commenting over sped up footage. I miss the days of post narration over live narration, but this is an acceptable substitute.
Just some I hope helpful advice.....when you are trying to film close up work, put the camera lens in manual focus and pre focus it at the exact point or item you need to be perfectly focused. This will stop the camera hunting around for focus as it cant really tell what the exact subject matter is. Also closing down the aperture to say f/8 will give you a deeper focus plane so more will stay in sharp focus rather than it being a very shallow focus point.
you need to put flame maple covers on those pickups and die them and tie them into the theme,if the were the lighter blue like out on the guitar edges that would be very nice my dude and then use the same stuff you used on the back plate holes on the sides in the pickup holes so everything just blends together..the led's was a great idea .it just transformed the whole thing..brilliant how it all comes together
I generally would love to win this guitar, I've just finished all my music exams and this would just be a great guitar to prepare me for possibly performing on and writing my own material.

Such a joy looking at professionals performing what is basically art. Makes it look easy and impossible all at the same time.
I remember watching this as each new episode was freely uploaded. Amazing how 6 years just flew by!

That is just one beautiful, unique, magnificent guitar. So much fun to watch your design process Ben. Thank you!
Glad you like it! I wonder if we could make a production version of this beastie.. that really could be fun. B
I didn't understand the need for the foil inside the body until I saw how those LEDs reflected inside. Looks great Ben.

I used to sand the clear LED's when I used them in pedal builds. Diffuses the light and doesn't make them so harsh! Love the build man!

the frase in the back of ben's t-shirt becomes very relevant this days! watching it during quarantine

yeah using a ws2801 strip would be a fun and easy way to incorporate a sound-reactive mode.
Great, great series Ben. Please do more of these beginning-to-end type series?
Sweet build! Thanks for sharing Ben. It looks like something Kevin Flynn in Tron would play.
You may think i'm crazy, but i actually think the back is nicest. That oiled mahogany is AWESOME!
