Firewire Machado Seaside Surfboard Review

- The Seaside by Firewire and Rob Machado is the Quad Fin evolution of the much loved Go Fish. The Seaside builds on the Go Fish but the quad fin set up adds more performance and more control. Unlike many other boards that can be ridden as a quad the seaside has been designed and shaped to be a quad.
You can find out more about the Seaside here:

Yeh I've been riding 5'3 (74kg) with the keel cause they haven't had any fins in. The board is dope. If you want to change the feel up ride twin super fun.
What kind of waves have you been riding and what would you say your level of surfing is ?
@@ag82536 intermediate surfed up to 5ft wouldn't go any bigger with the twin set up starts to slide out.
Looks like he’s bringing it back to a el fuego rocker/outline with a swallow tail. Those double conclaves though!
Stuck between 5’3” and 5’4”. I weigh 68.18 KG/150 lbs. Advanced intermediate surfer 2+ years experience surf almost daily
Probably the 5'3, 28.2 L would be enough volume but, it depends on the quality of waves, paddle fitness and if you are wearing a winter wetsuit with gloves and boots etc.
Did you make a decision between the two? I'm in the same boat, same weight etc.
artichokeantigua 5’4” is the one I got. I’m extremely happy with the size. 5’3” would have been just as fun I’m guessing but I think it would be getting to much onto the shorter end of things. Go with the 5’4” brotha I think it’s a sweet spot!
@@Moorcheh Thanks for the reply! 5'4 it is. What fins are you running?
artichokeantigua sorry for the late reply. I’m using robs futures quads
Should have my 5’4 next week and I’m frothin big time \m/ yeeeeeewww
Hi, I'm 5'7 '' 140
my level is intermediate advanced, my usual table is a no brainer 5´4 and gamma 5,6
But now I wanted to buy a seaside and I doubt between 5.2 and 5.3 . Which one do you recommend?
Thanks a lot.
I think that either would work well for you mate, but personally I would opt for the 5'3
I ordered one, 6 to 8 month waiting period 😖
Come on Firewire!
you live on mars or something
I wish, Mars gets their boards overnight prime.
@@cwr8618 hahahahahaha
You ever get it? I was going to order but when i heard 20 weeks with similar stories i got shy about it
Nice video! I'm a dilemma on Seaside or Go Fish... which is better? I've never rode fish boards before, only performance surfboards but I'm feeling I loss on paddle power and keeping speed down the line. I still don't want to replace my perfo boards but instead add something different to my quiver... specially on weak wave conditions
What do you think? Thanxs
Both are great! I would say the main difference is that with the Seaside being a quad setup it provides more bite and control, where as the go fish will give you more of that classic twin fin feel.
Thanks for the review. I’d like to get one of these; currently riding a 5’9” Chumlee, which is 35L and about right for me. The Seaside would be for better waves: would you suggest a 5’7” or a 5’8”? I’m 80kg and 6’ tall.
I went with a 5'7 (I'm also ~80kg) after surfing a 5'9 chumleee religiously, and it was the right call. Even though it's less volume, its packed into a smaller package so it works in the same conditions you (and I) would surf the chumlee. When it gets over chest high though I grab my 5'6 and it's a blast up to head high.
benjamin m Thanks for the advice, that’s very kind. So do you feel the Seaside and Chumlee fit a similar wave range? I surf the Chumlee in anything up to head high, or even a bit more with split keels in. From some of the comments and reviews about it I’d been thinking the Seaside had a bit more upper end.
@@masonmedia101 Sorry I didn't see this until now. It does and it doesn't. The tail of the seaside gives you better hold than the chumlee in bigger waves, but i think the width is still problematic to a degree for both boards when the waves get steep. You definitely could surf it in bigger waves if you have the skill to, but I haven't tried. For me the seaside is an everyday board up until its that big. I surf punchy beach breaks so when it's head high + the waves a pretty steep here so I opt for my shortboard.
Down The Line Surf Co. can you please give us the width of the swallow tail tip to tip please ? . I'm getting a 5'4" weigh 68kgs thanks, south devon UK. to reach a surfing beach on the English channel I cycle 35 miles with my board on top of my dogs "doggie hut" trailer. I turn 70 this year and don't have a car. unfortunately now I don't surf often since I moved away from south Africa where I surfed nearly every day for 40 years
my dog surfs the small 2' waves here in torquay on his 7'6" mini Malibu I bought him from a surfer who got it in Hossegor. Charlie the dog is pretty good but has a bad habit of riding backwards . I just see his eyes and a nose as he disappears over the falls. next thing hes at the beach but wont climb off his board. hes stoked1
Charlie is a x border collie /springer spaniel black and white he's been banned from the local shops for causing shit. if there was surf here he wouldn't be at the bloody shops! SURFS UPS!
Anyone think this could be used well for wakesurf ?
I have a new 6' Seaside for sale in Long Beach, CA if anyone local is interested.
Didn't like board ? Too much volume ?
why you selling it???
