A solar still is very handy for times like just dump salt water in it and it slowly makes distilled water.

My husband and I moved to Spain and living off grid too. I know the water pain. We rely also solely on rainwater and a well. We got rain last night after few months of no single drop of rain.

The leaves you picked up is one my favourite vegetables dish. Cooked with coconut milk and smoked fish, it’s so yummy.The root cropped are steamed too. New subscriber here, born in the Philippines but lives in Madrid and London. I have a piece of land too,south of the Philippines ,right off the beach and hope to retire there the soonest.

Mostly fish and rice 😉
Build a pot with a metal pipe inside another bigger pipe that you can pump cool sea water over and effectively a distillation machine. Get a small solar panel and a small pump to pump sea water into the pipe. Build a fire under the pot and put sea water inside. That will create pure water for emergencies so you will at least have some drinking water. Add a tiny amount of salt from the pot (keep it as free salt) for minerals.
the inner pipe needs to be metal to quickly cool the vapour while the other one can be PVC.
