Rico: "It's giving me that beachy, like wave type, cool, calming, coconut 🥥 vibe." Great description - I love that! ❤️ RIP IZ
Facts Jen! 🙏💯
I know what you're saying. ....
It's his wake. He would have liked your description. He would have wanted you to be happy.
Went to hear him in concert when I was in high school. At the end of the show he came and sat with the crowd I was with and mingled with everyone. He was such a sweet guy. The next year he died. When my parents told me I sat down and cried.
I've heard others people who had the opportunity to meet him say how sweet he was. It's beautiful when famous people are so humble and down to Earth. ❤️🎵🤙
Yeah I know man he was such a legend and he died of Respiratory Failure.
Such a gentle soothing rendition of this song. Beautiful. 😊
This song is a whole vibe. Nobody will ever play it better. RIP IZ🔥🔥
IZ is an inspiration and was loved by all. I was at Makua when they spread his ashes from the Hokule'a. Cars stopped along the 2 lane road leading to Ka'ena bringing traffic to a stand-still. Hundreds of people were wading in the water and hundreds more were on land. A procession of big rigs blew and held their horns echoing through the valley while his ashes were placed into the ocean making it sound as if the State of Hawaii was crying . . . it's a moment I will never forget. An incredible celebration of life for an incredible man!!
He was such a beautiful human being. We need those people in our lifes.
This version is so hauntingly beautiful.
When my daughter got married, this is the song we danced to. She used to sing this version all the time. Beautiful voice (both Izzy and my daughter). Glad you checked it out and enjoyed.
that is pretty awesome!!
He recorded this song on 1 take. He only did it once and that's how they put it in his album.
Smoothest voice of all time
I am proudly 3/4 native Hawaiian
You should know your reaction is appreciated.
Izreal was the voice of Hawaii he sounded exactly the same when he was preforming very beautiful and kind soul I very miss him dearly 🕊️🕊️🤙🏾🤙🏾 Kawika n Iz
Rest in peace dear brother Iz. We love you❤
This version brings tears to my eyes every time. So beautiful.
RIP BIG IZ!!! I cry almost every time I hear this song...
This song instantly makes me cry. It is absolutely beautiful and hearing it while watching Iz’s celebration of life…. Shew! Emotional roller coaster! Rest in paradise sweet soul ❤️🥺
This song was in the Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore movie 50 First Dates. I saw IZ perform in 1993 in Hawaii and he did this song and there was not a dry eye. R.I.P IZ ❤️
The fact he recorded this in 1 take is what makes it 100x even more amazing
When I was stationed at MCBH (Marine Corps Base Hawaii) this song would be played everywhere. IZ was like a national treasure there and God forbid you complain or say you don't like it near any of the Locals because there'd be a good chance you'd get your ass kicked by any Samoans that heard you. It was even on the 50 First Dates soundtrack. Amazing song.
That is one of my favorite songs. What a talented man! May he rest in peace!
guys,he showed up at the studio at 3 in the morning holding his ukulele and said he wanted to record a song, they let him in and he did this song by himself at 3 in the morning, one of his most famous songs..you got to admit,he has a beautiful voice for a very heavy hawaian boy........his weight took his life....in the video they show tossing his ashes into the sea, which is damn sad...he was great.
For me, this is the definitive version of this song. When Iz wanted to record this song, he'd had an idea for it, and called a studio manager at something like 3 AM. The studio manager said Iz was so polite, he went and opened the studio for him. Iz then recorded this, in one take.
R.I.P. Iz...
Here in Hawaii, he is a legend!!
Listen to the song.
In this life!! Aloha 🌺🤙🏽
Whenever I hear this song, I think of the ER episode where Dr Greene passes and this plays. It was the first time I ever heard it, but I cried like a baby!! This song is so touching, and it's so sad that Iz died so soon after.
This performance has been in a number of movies... it's one of those performances you can't help but feel emotions from. Some happy, some sad.
I've always loved his version of the song
Fun fact about this song: he sat down and recorded once and that was it, didn’t need anymore… Hawaii Legend 🤙🏽 RIP BRADDAH IZ!
Bruddah Iz is Hawaii, larger than life and an absolutely beautiful soul. His voice is unlike anything I've ever heard, you should check out his other music even if not for a reaction. Another wonderful reaction as always Recklezz. Rest In Peace Iz
Thanks Amy! Definitely gonna check out more! 💯🙏
@@OfficialLifeWithRecklezz Definitely check out Bruddah IZ Hawai'i Aloha. Iz singing for and with Hawaiian locals. My wife is from Hawaii and this just reminds me of being with her family.
My favorite Brother Iz's song is "Hawai'i '78", it is about the decimation of Hawai'ian culture by the white man. Iz was a national treasure. BTW, "Somewhere over the Rainbow" was a favorite song of Michael Jackson.
Been listening to Bruddah Iz for over 20 years when he was alive. Also enjoyed him when he & his brother Skippy formed the Makaha Sons of Niʻihau. I have all their & his cd's.
He is ever so sweet
I love this song. And it was played on one of the saddest episodes of the show ER; it really added something to the scene where it was used.
Oh wow! I remember that! I believe it was when Dr. Mark Greene passed away from a brain tumor. Pretty sure he had gone to Hawaii to see family. You're right - it really was the perfect song & added a lot of emotion.
Yep that was the one! He had gone to Hawaii because it was where he had been happiest and they played the song as his spirit visited his family and the ER before leaving. It makes me cry every damn time. LOL
That was such a great show! They don't make 'em like that any more. The actors were phenomenal & story lines always really good. I love when a show hits the perfect song for a scene! Great talking to ya Melissa! Thanks for the fun memory! Have a great day! ❤️🎵🤙
💗💗 love this- makes me sad he passed but so beautiful-
He is loved world wide..🙏
I am from Oahu and was raised on his music. IZ was the most gentlest and humblest person you would ever meet. There are so much more music that you should listen too that he sang. Some of my favorites would include White Sandy Beach, In Dis LIfe, and Wind Beneath My Wings just to name a few.
Love this beautiful rendition
Such an amazing performance. Gets me teary every time. It's perfect, could be a wedding song or it could be a song at a funeral.
I was there that day. It was AMAZING! Just at that time a school of dolphin showed up. I lived about a mile from his ranch right by that water. I think everyone on the island was there that day. It took about 2 hours to go a mile.
Such a beautiful cover. ✌️
The original was sung by Judy Garland in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ film in 1938 or 39. It is the first film in color.
Listen to Eva Cassidy singing this...her voice is other wordly x
It was great to see so many people gather to celebrate his life and not mourn his death.
I had never heard him while he was still alive. I was so hurt when I found out he was gone. He was a warm and loving person with an angelic voice. This video still brings tears to my eyes. Yes, this is his wake. He would have liked your description. Rest in peace, Izzy, we know you are over the rainbow, happy. I listened to some other songs of yours, they are good. You were good.
Thank you for the reaction to this song. Was crying again.
Loved IZ. Nice reaction.
I tear every time I see that seen
You can hear this song on 50 first date and finding forester. It’s the ending song on both movies.
Ive been listening to/binging this song for a week, & got his last named down! I got it Nailed!!!!.....but, yeah, a week ago, i wasnt even gonna try, so, i dont blame u🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Iz was phenomenal. This song seems to capture him so very well. The video shows him in life and then death.. I always get chills when they hold up his ashes. I love the culture of us Native Americans and it was good to see our people doing what we do. One of these days you ought to check us out bro. I would not tell you what songs to hear from our world and you wouldn't understand it. But a white group in England called Status and Chase. They did a song and the story was written from someone on the Blackfoot Reservation. It is real. It is our culture fighting not to die, and our children seeing our religion and culture to be worthless. It is called "Alive". By Status and Chase. Do the video, it is controversial not the live version which is in England and makes no sense 🤔 lol 😆 but one day check us red people out.
He had a beautiful voice. So sad he died so young
The scene at the end was when his ashes were being scattered into the sea. He died when he was only 38.
750 lbs at his time of death. 38 years old and taken way too soon. Shaka brah! RIP Iz
Mahalo for showing love to the 808! I've been watching you guys since the first Bone Thugs reactions. I love your content and the chemistry between you 2. Keep it up, you give good stuff to watch at work. Aloha!
This is the original most people think it's Judy Garland because of wizard of oz but he wrote it 👌🤣 I met his cousin, cool guy. Met him in San Diego 👌
Climax Blues Band - "I Love You " would be a great smooth love song for you to react to since many women and men love this song. The lead singer of the band wrote and recorded this song and dedicated it to his wife and they are still married to this day. The song was released in 1981 and it's played at many wedding receptions sometimes.Thanks.
R.I.P. IZ...Thanks For All You Gave Us..Gone But Definitely Not Forgotten. 🙏 ❤🤙
He does a Hawaiian version of Country Roads that is pretty cool as well. He was known as Bruddah Iz.
It's a song used in '50 First Dates' ☺️
From what I heard it took 1 take......1 to record this 🎵 🎶 simply amazing and a beautiful version of this song. Rip IZ ✌❤ did anyone mention this song is from the movie The Wizard of Oz and Judy Garland sang it.
I grew up in Hawaii....when Iz died it was very sad .... he seemed such a wonderful man. Prior to this song, he sang with a Hawaiian Group that was also popular (Makaha Sons). Thank you for reacting to this.
THERE'S A GREAT DOCUMENTARY ABOUT IZ ON RUclips!!
Earned sub, thank you, I loved your faces just enjoying it. I only leaned yesterday this was recorded in one take at the studio
This song WILL be played at my funeral.
Iz's 'Hawaii 78' is his best tune imo
Damn. Didnt expect this reaction. This song just hits on a different level. RIP Big IZ!
Hawaii, is the greatest place on the planet… such culture
Hawaii Loves Brother IZ
The original was done by Judy Garland, in the Wizard of Oz. It should be easy to find on YT.
IZ was awesome. Love his medley of this song OVER THE RAINBOW and WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD.
This needed to be broadcasted at full volume during the rioting, destructive since you can't listen and feel anger at the same time.
Rest in paradise IZ❤
He also does this song with "What a wonderful world" together and it is both wonderful and brilliant !
He was a gift
Classic.... among classics
Plat that tune for your child. Every little kid I know reacts with joy and happiness when played. Wicked version sweet soothing voice hits ya right in the soft spot. Peace and love from Canada
I saw the spreading of the ashes is the ocean in Hawaii and it put tears 2 my eyes. A tru island legend. May God keep him in heaven! That person & voice belongs with the angels!
Braddah IZ LIVES 😎🤙🏾🌴
I love this version but I grew up on the original version sung by Judy Garland in The wizard of Oz
The one and only best version is by Miss Judy Garland tmho.
Shivers.
He’s a local legend.
So glad to see that you did this reaction. I adore this version of somewhere over the rainbow. He also does a cover of Louis Armstrong's what a wonderful world and a medley of Somewhere over the rainbow and what a wonderful world. You are truly missed Brother IZ
Yessah!!!! Love this guy and great reaction!!!!!
I've never been to Hawai'i that I wasn't blessed with a rainbow. Magical place, mood, and sound. IZ was a gift to us all.
Unfortunately, this was an edited version. The original song is a medley of "Over the Rainbow" and "Wonderful World" and was recorded on the first take, almost improvised on the spot.
Been listening to Bruddah Iz for decades. One of his least known songs but a favorite of mine is his version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Heartrendingly beautiful. Mahalo.
I had a friend walk down the isle at her wedding to this song. Beautiful. RIP Big Guy
His voice was so beautiful there's not anybody that can compare!
R.I.P. IZ
R I P IZ
Very emotional song for me.
This version by IZ is the song of choice for fallen K9 officers killed in the line of duty here in the USA.
This video has touched people around the world, and is his legacy to us. Kamakawiwo'ole is pronounced (kah mah kah vivo olay.) The ukelele (ooh koo lay lay) is a Portuguese instrument called a port au braga, renamed ukelele by Hawaiians. Uku (flea or bug) Lele (leaping) for the motion of the hand while playing. The canoe his ashes were poured from is the famous Hokulea (ho koo lay uh) which has sailed all over the world.
When Simplicity equal Beauty
The scene st the end where all the people are cheering on boats was Iz's funeral! So much love for him!
You, need to listen to Hawaii 78 by IZ. Listen to the lyrics and that is what we Hawaiians are going through. Mahalo
IZ is a national treasure. Had the chance to see him perform before he passed. My wife being indigenous Hawaiian (Kanaka Maoli) introduced me to him years ago & I absolutely fell in love with his voice and persona
Have you been introduced to Gabby Pahinui? Moonlight Lady was popular but some of his others sung in Hawaiian are my favorites like Ipo lei Manu
Bruddah IZ (Ease). He's a legend in Hawaii. He is the level of Sam Cooke or Marvin Gaye are in the Motown/Black community. You wanna check "Hawaii 78" (I call it the hawaaian anthem) or "In this Life".
Is that a n Ernie Irvan shirt you're wearing? The race car driver? That was my husband's favorite driver back in the day. Sweet!!!
I tear up every time on his version of the song. I don't know why. Beautiful voice
Are you thinking of Ruben Stattard? He has a gentle voice.
It's a great cover.
I listen to this song when I'm sad; I miss Izzy, he was a beautiful human being. One day he just walked into a studio and asked if he could record this song and did it in one take! RIP Izzy, I miss your beautiful voice!
