Hello I’m a Hawaiian and it’s amazing to know people still know his name. He is an amazing singer. Please listen to his other music because the music is amazing!
IZ is a star that will always shine. It's rare to have a song touch the soul in the same way. RIP IZ!!🤟🏩
He will always be a legend in my book, I listen to this once a day
I'm will forever be in awe at how popular Braddah Israel Kamaka'wiwo'ole has become around the WORLD! RIP Braddah Iz
Я из России и благодаря Брадда Изу стал интересоваться гавайской культурой и народом. Безмерно жаль, что он так рано ушел из жизни. Очень трогательны кадры прощания с ним. Да удостоится он покоя в Раю!
That was his ashes returned to the ocean
😔😔
My brother used to tell me that I came from a cabbage patch...
Beautiful rendition of this song, for sure - the world lost an even more beautiful soul, when it lost IZ...sigh 😔 But the celebration of his life at the end of this video shows how much he was loved.
So beautiful! I didn’t catch on that it was a funeral until I read the comments. That saddens me even more.
It’s my opinion the tears come from the fact you just got back a long lost tiny piece of your childhood innocence when your ears reach this one ✌🏼❤
The happy people at the end of the video were celebrating IZ's funeral.
Omg he passed away? Wow that makes this a whole lot sadder.
@@ValenciaGamble yep...that was his ashes ...😕...but bruddah IZ is always there 🤙🏽
@@ValenciaGamble he sadly went somewhere over the rainbow in ‘97.
@@ValenciaGamble he was the true definition of a gentle giant. He was 1000 pounds when he passed away.
And sweeter too.
I cry every time I listen to this song, his voice is haunting. The funeral at the end of the video for Iz is beautiful. He was so loved by the people. He passed in 1997 at 38 years old. His music lives on.
You got teary-eyed because you saw and heard love. His song is love. 10,000 people came out to celebrate him when he passed. He got a king's funeral. He was and remains a treasure to the Hawaiian people, as he well deserves.
Bruddah Iz is one of the many reasons I’m proud to be Hawaiian. ❤️
Video of his funeral in this video is breathtaking and heartbreaking at the same time. Your emotions are totally understandable. ❤️
IZ is an inspiration and was loved by all. I was at Makua when they spread his ashes from the Hokule'a. Cars stopped along the 2 lane road leading to Ka'ena bringing traffic to a stand-still. Hundreds of people were wading in the water and hundreds more were on land. A procession of big rigs blew and held their horns echoing through the valley while his ashes were placed into the ocean making it sound as if the State of Hawaii was crying . . . it's a moment I will never forget!
It's ok....really. We've all gotten teary over this. It's an absolutely beautiful song. And the video only makes it better. RIP IZ
IZ was a treasure to the state and the people of Hawaii!! He is greatly missed! By the video at the end u can tell his funeral was a huge event! The emotions u felt r the same the people of Hawaii used to feel when he sang!! This song was used at the end of the Brad Pitt movie MEET JOE BLACK where it gained notoriety because it was so different and original. He was and still is the epitome of the Hawaiian people and its culture of ALOHA!! WE MISS U IZ!!
He had the gift to make you cry be happy and sad at the same time. He is all feel his songs.
When IZ passed, he was laid in state to allow as many people to come & pay their respects...
A right Only given to the Royal Family of Hawaii..
that was how much he was loved
Anyone who reacts to this song deserves a follow. IZ passed away the end of the video was his traditional Hawaiian 🌺 funeral. His voice is beautiful and haunting. You now have a follow
Kamaka-viv-oh-ohley. The W in Hawaiian makes a V sound. So it's not actually Hawaii. It's Ha-vai-ee. The song really is a hitter. I can't listen to this track without getting teary eyed myself.
I cry everytime I see this song 😢 R.I.P. Israel 💔
You are right about the v pronunciation of the letter w. Not in all Hawaiian words…like Waikiki etc. You can thank early German missionaries who changed it to a v sound.
Hawaii ‘78 is a beautiful song by IZ. My wife was born and raised in Hawaii. She has taught me so much about the amazing Hawaiian culture. But all his songs are touching. White sandy beach is also a beautiful song too.
My wife walked down the aisle at our wedding to this, and I cried at the altar. It's so beautiful! Your reaction was perfect.
This song STILL pulls on me when I hear it..
This world would be soo much more mellow if everyone listened to it once every day..
What's interesting about your reaction is in the timing you reacted with tears about your grandmother passing. It was in sync with when they pour his ashes to the ocean. I dont think you caught that, but regardless, it was in a way spiritual. Sorry for your loss btw.
This song holds a huge place in my heart. My oldest son and granddaughter are native hawaiians and anytime i see them or get to visit Kaua'i, i cant help but hear this song and cry.
Iz’s funeral at the end of the video always makes me cry, too. Another emotional song is the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot. It’s based on real life events. Give it a listen sometime!
Awesome. IZ lives on. His kind spirit and sweet voice continues to touch hearts. 💕
I had the same experience you did. This song made me cry the first time I heard it, before I even knew he had died or seen the video, and I’m not much of a crier.
But it’s beautiful seeing all those people celebrating to the fullest when he passed. Many cultures (unfortunately the US is not one of them) have big celebrations when loved ones die, to remember the joy they brought to their lives. They mourn in private, but they embrace that joy, too. And IZ was a beautiful soul, and a deeply beloved figure to natives of Hawaii. His death was a world-shattering tragedy for the whole island. But still, 10,000 people laughed and swam and celebrated in his memory.
The funeral service at the end where his ashes were dumped into the ocean is a tradition reserved for the deaths of royalty and important political figures. But he meant so much to these people, they gave him the same treatment. Beautiful.
As a vet with PTSD to include extreme anxiety problems, this is my go-to song to relax when I feel panic building up. After that (in no particular order): IZ cover of Wonderful World, Louis Armstrong Wonderful World, Won't You Be My Neighbor ... and a couple of others.
It's a beautiful song, sung with a beautiful voice, from a beautiful soul.
The ukulele is a Portuguese instrument called a port au braga, and was renamed by Hawaiians. Uku (ooh koo not, you kuh) being "flea" and lele "leaping"due to the motion of the hand while playing.
In Hawaiian W is V. So it's Kamaka (kah mah kah) vivo (veevo) ole (olay).
The big double canoe they poured IZ's ashes from is the famous Hokulea, which has sailed all over the world.
dying is not an end , it's living in people , Iz gave much life to his folks , they gave it back to him , they gave it back to the eternal sea
IZ LIVES!!!
Warm and heartfelt voice!
Cheeeeeeehhhhhhuuuuuuuuuu 💚 🤙🏿Braddah IZ was Da Man
Watch the one where it’s both “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and it’s combined with “What a Wonderful World” that always get me very emotional
It's literally magic that everyone who listens to him get touched identically. Him passing plays a roll in that of course but there's so much more to this man and his ukulele and I don't even like that instrument
Oh yeah. He owned every song made us feel the emotional.
I cry every time i watch this :)
A wonderful celebration of life wish we all could have a send off like that . RIP IZ
I cried listening to this song. It is so beautiful and he sings it so well to.
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Wow... She watched the entire video and in never sank in that the "party" at the end was actually his memorial service and they were lovingly placing his ashes into the sea. How could she have missed that? At least she understood the emotion of the piece, as it made her remember her departed grandmother.
First time and every time since it's brought tears to my eyes
My sincerest condolences for your loss 😔 R.I.P. grandma and R.I.P. Isarael I.Z. 😥😢
Beautiful song sung by a beautiful man
I like this version better too. I'm sorry that he passed away.
Very sweet reaction.
IMO this song belongs to IZ, So much more angelic. R.I.P. IZ you are missed.
Fun fact, the album this song is in was the most famous hawaiian album in Hawaiian history.
I was lucky enough to meet him 30 years when I lived on the north shore
Happy belated birthday, you have the same b-day as my aunt and my bday is 3 days earlier, also from Hawaii so this is my childhood song.
It does the same to me. And I consider my self tough. But this song here makes me cry too
You didn't notice in the end there. With everyone in the ocean. That was his funeral. His sister was pouring his ashes into the ocean.
Gets to me every time.
You only need to apologize unless it didn't move you. Obviously it did. I always cry when I hear it!
This song makes me think of my grandma too, she was a piano player and recorded her music. We played this song at her funeral. IZ's version is the best version though. it always gets to me.
Ain't nothing to be sorry about young lady. More people need to show emotion. This beautiful song from a gentle soul, touched your heart. That's a beautiful thing, music is the bridge that brings us all together.
this was a bittersweet moment, the joy seen here was actually the celebration of a life cut short, RIP IZ
It's okay I'd have been disappointed if you didn't get a little teary eye because the song does it to me every time I've heard it and I've heard it a lot lot it's the most beautiful song! 💜
Beautiful man , beautiful voice, beautiful soul! 💜
BRAH DA IZ !
How many stars did he wish upon?? Thank you Brother
Same here. It's emotional. You've noticed the ashes, right?
That was his ashes being spread in the ocean after his funeral.
Braddah Iz has lots of great songs. Listen to Henehene or E ala e.
Saddest day when we lost our Angel Izzy
Ka maka veeva oh lay🤙🏻
I also get very emotional with IZ's version.
It is also song of choice for fallen K9s that died in the line of duty.
Ka ma ka wi so ole hawai'i Elvis!
im 36 male, just cried like a baby. WHen the whole fuckin island comes out to spread your ashes, youve done your part
To all of Hawaii and the world, he was simply Brother Iz. Or Bruddah Iz, if you want to go all island.
Kama Ka Wee Wo Olee
Love his voice
This song is among my favorites. Also I know you reacted to her before but can you react to more songs by Shakira like No Cero and Tu?
That was his funeral at the end when you got so emotional
Ka ma ka wi wo ole
This version is amazing, one of my favourites but I also have to suggest you want Eva Cassidy sing this if you haven't already, also her version of Fields of Gold is one of my favourite songs ever.
New sub by the way 🙂
This a bit more to the song they cut out of this memorial version.
It's part of my favorite.. it's the wonderful world part.
He native Hawaiian 💉🤙🏾
His last name is pronounced: Ka ma ka vee vo olay
Please, would you turn the volume up... can't hear and my volume is all the way up....ty
Thats the real sad part..... no body knows anything about our hawaiian culture truly...... says alot about America... do your research people and understand how our country got over throw by the America government.
