  • Kim Su-hyeon was originally awarded a good lift for her final attempt, the weight which she required to earn a ticket to the Olympic Games, but the jury had other ideas. With a little bit of support from the crowd, things changed!

if the crowd can intervene the jury's decision then what's the point of the jury? The point of having a jury is so that there is someone to make the decision based on a unbiased thinking. what if the crowd doesn't like a particuar lifter and did not intervene the jury, this wil put him/her in a disadvantage compare to this korean weightlifter which everyone has clearly helped. just givng my thoughts on this, not hating on this particular lifter or anything.

That's actually not even one red. We need this "no instability" nonsense tossed right out. There is no attempt whatsoever to move the barbell with her arms or re-lower herself after the catch. The elbows shake because the weight is heavy, and that's it. Press out should mean PRESS out, not slight flinch.

makes me mad judges doing all these sports probably come nowhere close to performing at these levels to judge.

Oh thank god they didn't change the decision. That would have been absolutely brutal.

It’s was a good lift. So what if she moved to the left a bit. As long as her elbows didn’t move and her lift was even that is all that matters.

The crowd shouldn't have any control on outcome and they should just do things correct as the official organization from the start

Well clearly the judges weren't able to tell she could qualify or that one additional person wasn't the end of the world
Either way, those judges are just as much entertaining the audience as they are the athletes- there must be a balance
