      I still think it’s bad though. At the end of the day people make money playing sports because spectators watch them so I don’t think it’s a good thing for the best lifters to be competing when no one gets to enjoy the performance. I understand why the athletes do it but they should make a rule against it it’s bad for the sport in general.

    No problem here. Having a choice as an athlete is extremely important. Additionally, it allows for them to compete at their best. It helps with longevity, less burn out, and brings excitement to the B group. If anything, it will spark more competition and interest in the B group. More importantly, it brings the athlete more joy. Why not? Otherwise, its some power trip on the other end.

    • @RyTrapp0
      @RyTrapp0 9 месяцев назад

      That's what's interesting though, in other sports that have some sort of format that divides up the competitors into different levels like this "A session, B session" format they'll hand pick the top competitors to be in the premier session, under the spotlight. And, from the promoter's/sanctioning body's/etc.'s perspective, they're depending on the attention that the big names generate to get people to tune in, show up, buy merch, etc.(running comps/events isn't exactly a big money making endeavor). Yea, it sucks for the competitors that they have to deal with the additional stresses that come with the spotlight session - but all the top competitors are competing under those same circumstances, so it isn't exactly 'unfair'. Those less than ideal circumstances are a 'reward' for being as good as you are lol. After all, 'the best' in most other sports are typically overcoming that extra hurdle of always competing under pressure in the spotlight, it tends to come with the territory of being a regular winner, nevermind record breaker.

    The Sinclairs in this videos are calculated using the new formula. Using the old formula 96kg's (technically 95kg's) Tian's sinclair in c&j is on par with Rahmat's 209kg, if I remember correctly. If you check Liao Hui's new sinclair using the new formula that's totally absurd...Lasha's sinclair suddenly becomes not as impressive under the new formula though

      @@mambutuomalley2260 Well, folks keep using the old formula to make a case that Lasha's Sinclair is the second highest in history. What's new doesn't always imply what's better. From what I observed the new formula corrects for some anomalies in superheavy weights like Lasha's, but it also generates some new anomalies. For example, Liao Hui's 198kg as a 69kg, whose Sinclair was roughly the same as 210kg as a 77kg under the old formula, turns out to be miles ahead under the new formula, although in reality these two numbers are about the same level. as long as records are split into a and b sessions it shouldn’t be a problem. but performing on the biggest stage is part of the challenge, not just the weight. In combat sports there’s a saying that there are many who can beat world champs in the training room but they don’t got it under the bright lights

    This just convinced me that there shouldn't even be a B-session.
    What's the point? It's like weightlifting rules puts some in a "participation-trophy" group, and that feels disrespectful imo. As we've seen, anyone who might not be the best can still have a great day competing, or someone who is elite can have a terrible day and completely bomb. Of course, in Rahmat's case, it's neither; he's just an elite who's gaming the system for his benefit.
    Just let them compete on the same level already and quit trying to engineer it all. It'll be better for everyone, especially fans.

    The elephant in the room Seb and Max aren't picking up on is the strategy of lifting in B,C,etc sessions on purpose, and how it has to do with the dumb tiebreak rule. If you make the same weight in a previous session as a person in the A session, you win. This strategy gives you a better shot. The "who made it first" thing needs to be changed back to lower bodyweight tiebreak -- it's easier to understand (especially how poorly implemented the televised scoreboard is), and it is all the more relevant in the era of devalued weight categories and how we're seeing very light athletes bump up to heavier categories to make the Olympics, like.

    Its good and bad for the lifter. If they'll let you time your lifts how you want, its a great advantage. If you still need to stick to their timings, it can be detrimental. At last years static monsters (worldwide strongman 2 lift comp) my opener was above the the last attempt of everyone else where i was competing and i didnt really have enough time between each lift to fully recover due to the timings of the event.
    As for if its cheating? Not against the rules. If organisers don't like it, they should seed the groups based on recent performances and stop allowing self reporting of lift totals.
