- In this episode of TFBTV, James speaks with Joe of Steyr to hear about the new Steyr A2 MF (Modular Frame) pistol, which is a continuation in the Steyr M2 series of polymer framed, striker-fired pistols, which are known for their very low bore axis and modular chassis. Steyr has made the gun even more modular and have integrated several improvements.

Steyr clearly thought there was a non-trivial possibility that James was just gonna run away with the pistol.
now they just need a boost in thejr marketing, steyr makes awesome stuff but apart from their Steyr AUG rifles and bolt action rifles they are quite unknown.
Hopefully they bring their German Army trials rifle onto the US market.
Y'all remember a joke Alex C made a while back?
IWI: marketing is everything
Steyr: what the hell is marketing?
where was that from?
@@jacobneely687 ruclips.net/video/BZP6p8MD-O0/видео.html
True dat!
1:25 "Customers don't forget we are the original modular chassis frame." Oof, shots fired at Sig and Beretta. Lol
Dichico21 yeah lol. Two bad sig released a modular chassis way back in 2007 with the p250. 12 years later you have Steyr releasing their first modular chassis while bragging to be the original lol
Didn't sig get sued for a modular chassis patent issue?
Hunter Mitchell the filed a lawsuit but last I knew it wasn’t really going anywhere. I could be wrong though, I haven’t really been keeping up on it
The most stealth pistol on the market
I love how it looks like a blaster from some scifi universe.
Got mine last week. Incredible pistol. Insanely accurate. I swapped out the stock mag-release spring for the Ranger Point one and added the BT striker bushing. Both mods made a noticeable difference (and they were cheap). I also added the Hogue 'tactical' grip sleeve (I add Hogues to everything). Perfect fit.
I've owned/sold most of the 'major' poly 9s over the past few years, but this Steyr is a keeper (until I sell it to finance the M9-A2 haha).
Two mods the new Steyr DIDN'T like were the DPM RSA and the InForce APL light. The DPM did not play nice with the take-down lever (and didn't make a discernable difference in felt recoil in my hands) and the APL didn't line up well with the pic rail on the pistol. Looked goofy. Just a heads-up for anyone considering buying either.
That thing looks enormous in James's tiny hands.
(insert really tasteless joke here)
Right? And the barrel is longer than his shorts.
Deadpool reference
Gotta have one. I'm glad I didn't get one of the older ones. This is definitely an upgrade. I wonder if they will come up with an optics ready version
That texturing on the grip looks insane, looking forward to seeing more of Steyr.
@762x35mm 400 grit is rougher than 800. The lower the number the courser the grit
I am so excited to see you there still working on the steyr m series, I hadn't heard anything about the steyr M9 till I went to a local range of mine a number of years ago, It's been my carry gun of choice ever since I found out about it, everything about it just works for me, I'm excited to see what the new inapproved A2 series will bring
I love it. Will have to add it alongside my M9A1 and L9A1. Once I got used to the Trapezoidal sights I love them and, personally, find them faster to get on target than three dot.
Love my Steyr M9-A1. Can’t wait for the new model to come out!
Good improvement, my L9 with Talon rubber grips is my favorite pistol.
I've seen a lot of new stuff popping up this week and this is the one I'm most excited for so far. The last generation has been on my want list for a long time after renting one a couple times.
Steyr- quality sells itself. Been with the company since 1994 with an issued Steyr SSG system.
That thing looks absolutely slick in James’ hands!
👍👍👍 wow so manufactures are finally catching on to putting texture all the way up to the slide stop.
That looks awesome. I've always thought these pistols were beautiful, and with all the attention on new low bore axis pistols it's a natural fit to breathe a little new life into this proven design.
Well let's pray they actually go through with it. Unlike Sig who promises big things, but fizzles out and hopes it's customers forget.
Joe seemed like a nice guy and he definitely looks like he should be selling an Austrian product, probably in a deep mahogany wood adorned library in a millionaire level gun club. With that said, your rugged manliness combined with your attire that makes you look like an Israeli commando that's about to smoke check some tangos, probably intimidated poor Joe. Had you been in the short shorts, with your rippling leg muscles on full display, he would have been scared shitless and rendered speechless.
Rock on James, rock on!
Can you get the triangle sights in a night sight version from the factory?
Very Cool Steyr. Props to the Steyr company.
I own the S9 A1 and was wanting another pistol closer to the g19 size. I though the m9 A1 would be on its last leg and parts would dry up, so I was leaning towards a pistol with a guaranteed legacy but now that the there is an A2, it changes things. There is not a better factory trigger in a striker fired pistol than the A1 line of pistols, and I imagine its the same in the A2. You also get world renowned Steyr cold hammer forged barrels.
Looks awesome! Looking forward to trying one!
I can tell you that Steyer customer service is as good as it gets. If you need something just give them a call and they'll fix you right up.
Nice!! Can’t wait to add this one to the 3 I’ve already got!! 👍
Love my C9. Super flat shooter and crazy fast
I don't know if it's the camera angle but that thing looks badass
I like the Steyer style. It's a little different but it has its own appeal. Very nice guns to shoot too.
I own one and it is soooooo comfy in my hand. I wish there were night trap sights because I’m not loosing these sweet sights even for night visibility
I still wanna get my hands on an M9. Hopefully these don't have the same import issues.
I dont have a need for one of these, but they're different enough to catch my interest, this looks so much better than the original
its on my list now thanks
Low bore axis handguns look so dang aesthetic
I just hope they don't charge as much for their exchange kits like sig.
Sig is sooo overrated and overpriced. The only one I loved was the p228
Definitely picking one of these up!
Very excited for this
Nice improvements...and it will still sell like Steyrs.
I’m such a steyr fanboy and their Leo discount is awesome
The only thing I see that I don't like is the fact that it is being announced a month and a half after I bought my fantastic Steyr L9A1.
Then again, with how happy I am with the L9A1 and the fact that they are saying I can use my current slide down the road, it's not that bad.
Extremely underrated pistol 🔫
Yes! Totally getting it
Love my C9. You just have to shoot it to appreciate it. It’s that good.
can't wait to get a brother for my favorite gun, but I really wish that Steyr would work on their mags and especially launch some cheap extended mags.
i wish they had extended mags too =^)
Ive always wanted a m9a1. Too bad ive never found one in a shop to even hold. Are they gonna market these better?
Yup, still the best pistol and arms manufacturer in Austria.
Well, they have had some practice in making firearms. :-)
Looks cool.
Will this new gen still work with the M9 mags? That is the question that I do not hear anyone asking....
Styer A2? YES PREASE!
I’ll take one brother!!! Can’t wait for next gun show hope you’re there….
I'm really excited for these steyr is so underrated it's not even funny!
When are we gonna get a full review
So Steyr did the Hudson 9 thing back in the 90's? Why didn't I know about this?
Curious to see a Longslide model, service size not at all really.
When is the M9 and C9 a2 being released?
Well spoken rep
I have not seen you do a review of this gun yet. Do you plan on doing so?
Bereli has these with 6 mags, a bag, and light for 499 currently 👌
Sure is a very cool pistol.
OK, this might get me to look at plastic striker guns again.
Can I convert to 357 sig or will there be any chambered for ir?
How long before they actually ship?
Was shot show this year hand crafted by Alex C?
original? Wasn't the TT-33 Tokarev the first to use a removable subframe?
Hope the trigger is more tactile and audible. Which was the only reason I went with the czp10c over the aug.
@Daniel W well said. Tactile/audible reset is meaningless.
Daniel W
that is good for you, but I want is what I want.
I never said it would or would not help me in a self defense situation.
Its the kind of triggers I want on my firearms and I don’t give a damn what random guys on a RUclips resplies says about it.
Aug provides you with a non tactile/ audible trigger buy it and have fun. Luckily, for me, czp10c/Glock offers a trigger that is tactile/audible .
@@fgtypezero0684 Sorry if my comment offended you. I wasn't trying to come off like a jack ass. You are correct. Its your money, but what you like.
Daniel W
I love the aesthetic, low bore axis, and the grip.
I’m indifferent on the trapezoid sights.
I don’t like the trigger.
To be fair I’ve never actually shot one, but have handled at the local gun shop.
@@fgtypezero0684 If you ever get the chance to shoot one you may like it. Super flat shooting. All my buddies didnt like the quiet reset either. They forgot all about that after.they shot mine. It's a sleeper for sure.
Siiiiick! I want one
Hell yeah
I love mine !
Release date in English, please! I was also wanting to hear about aftermarket sight options; particularly night sights. I've been wanting a Steyr pistol for years, but didn't like the lack of texturing on their old grips. Now, especially with the possibility of an assault weapons ban an election away; I'll take three.
I recall - regarding the now "older" A1 pistols - hearing that Steyr offered night sights, but they were of conventional style (i.e., not trapezoidal).
King
YAY, more plastic 9mm's to go with all the other plastic 9mm's. Steyr is a very underrated manufacturer who makes good stuff, but it's still just another stryker-fired polymer pistol, the market is already flooded with more established options at a much lower cost. it is an interesting design tho.
James what brand jacket is that?
Offer s length grip with full length rail for m and l uppers!
Wish we could get some kits
Did they improve the trigger?
I need this!
I wish steyr could convince safariland to make holsters for their products
You just know everyone's gonna call the MF series "Moe Fugger". 😉
Anyone know a good website or youtube channel that explains the sights? I love my Steyr but am having a hard time aiming with the sights.
It's a combat style sight picture so put the triangle over the target and line up the back wings to make a trapezoid that's even over the target.
R.I.P. tax return!!! ❤️ 😍😍❤️ this new model!! Now I have to decide between or a new Cz 🤔🤔🤤
Take my money!
So is this the modular chassis patent Steyr sued Sig over? Any update on that?
Just wondering the same thing.
They aren't gonna win the law suit I mean it sounds like they took steyrs idea and improved upon it I mean I didn't even know steyr did it so it probably sucked hence why they changed it with this model. Also modular chassis weren't steyrs original creator the Chinese military pistol was made well before them and has a modular chassis.
@@johnw6613 doesn't really matter if someone did it first with regards to the Chinese, what matters is was it patented and when and how, if at all, the patent was violated
@@Murphy82nd no in the United States it actually does to my understanding you need to prove its your own original idea to get a patent Idk about other nstions
@@johnw6613 Steyr already has the patent. The lawsuit is whether or not SIG infringed on the patent.
Makes me wish they'd finally import the russian PL-14
Steyr and Caracal are much alike guns. It seems to me as if it were copied one another. Is it like that?
Now ship it with OD frame and threaded barrel
Magazine compatibility and FDE versions?
Hopefully no FDE
So what about magazines
A1 mags fit in the A2.
Steyr/HK/Walther - keeping the polymer game from being completely redundant.
Now THAT'S what Daddy's talking about!
By chance do they make anything ambidextrous?
I've heard a lot of people have had problems with the ejection on the original Steyr pistols. If they've fixed this problem then I'm down.
They have on the newer gens. My Gen 4s run awesome. Just gotta clean the extractor/and spring channel every now and then.
@@travispowell2471 That's good to hear, I've wanted one for the longest time, the only thing holding me back was hearing about issues involved.
Have they addressed the ejection issue?
Yes
Ah, Joe does his job very well. Better than some of the other firearm manufacturers I've seen James talk to.
Steyr are you ever going to release an updated AUG?
Adam there is one, the AUG A3 SF.
@@drukenwilli4998 not updated enough think along lines of lithgow f90 except better
Guess I’m buying another steyr
MAKE IT CAL LEGAL!!!
One of the most exciting releases for me personally. Guys be sure not to rape the customer on new frame prices. Take a hint from Sig pricing-40-60 dollars is what a piece of plastic with no guts in it. Good stuf!!
762x35mm exactly 👍🏻
i like their products but: still no optics ready version/option, no ambi manuals!
Forward to 2021: still no different frame sizes - Steyr at it again.
But presenting a new chassis for HK G36 - instead of working on their own products! 😞
Steyrs don't go into battery sent my m9 in still isn't fixed...
Would you please provide more information about your experience with this problem?
I have seen it occur in at least one RUclips video, but it was not discussed.
So you sent your malfunctioning pistol to Steyr, and they returned it - did they claim to have corrected something? Was it returned with any "proof" cases they had fired?
Obviously if the problem is with a part of the gun that has not been redesigned, this should be of concern to all interested buyers.
@@DouglasGross6022 they sent my friend a new gun without explaining
@@minnesotanice369 That is unacceptable.
I wonder if you may have some recourse with your state government - attorney general, perhaps.
@@DouglasGross6022 they repsced his gun with a brand new one and never gave an explanation
