Great review, again. Thanks! Plomb was, and now PROTO is, a top-notch tool maker. Wish I had some Plombs among my PROTOs.

I have a few Koken knurled handle offerings... they're great!
They do knurling right, aggressive, but not so much as to be sharp and/or annoying.

I really wouldn’t mind having one of these! I need a couple of vintage ratchets and wrenches to out in a small display I plan to make.

That is very well made back when attention to detail was a little more important. Thanks Catus

I frequently grab my antique plomb ratchets over my many new fancy ratchets! The weight, balance, sound, fit and finish,
feel just seem perfect! I kinds baby them a bit and sometimes need the 4 degree swing but the old plomb ratchets should be retired but no I still enjoy working with them!
On a side note does the addition of cat hair enhance your spray lubricant?

In about 80 years the mechanism has never changed and you can put a brand new PROTO 4749 rebuild kit into an early PLOMB 4749.

I prefer Super Lube to lubricate my ratchets. I seems to not dry out and does not leak out like the lube you used.

Thanks Catus. I didn't know the story behind the name change. That looks like its still a good usable ratchet.
I thought i saw somewhere that the modern Proto design uses the same parts? Is that true??
