Holy Shit I’m in 2020 and this video is still so relevant “It’s not about the amount of years you live; but the amount we live in our years” Urghhh so good
I started watching his channel when this released in 2012, and his old videos are much better than his vlogs. But vlogs are still good. Just my opinion
To me, traveling is not just getting on a plane to go take a photo in front of the Eiffel Tower or Pyramids or Tower of Pisa etc, it's about experiencing the inconceivably diverse planet on which we live. It's learning about different cultures and customs, tasting new foods, learning a new language, doing things you never thought you would (or even COULD) do. It's about opening your eyes to the immense world and bringing all these new and wonderful insights together to make a new and better you. "Travellers" and "tourists" are two very different things.
Have you never considered that there's more than one way to find an interesting or useful experience? Have you ever gone to sleep after jumping into a vertical cave in Africa so that you could ride horseback in Egypt when you woke up? Ever switched from summer to winter four times in ten days? No? Limiting yourself to one specific type of traveling doesn't make you superior, it just means that you're limiting yourself. If you had the chance to travel the world in 10 days on someone else's budget and you said no, I'd call you crazy. Or in other words; enjoy, don't be a humbug. It costs you nothing but it's much more fun :)
Thanks for your reply, and yes, you're right, he had 10 days to go to all these countries and didn't have any time to fully appreciate what each place had to offer. My comment wasn't directed specifically to this video (because I realise he had very limited time), it was more towards the spirit of travel. Yes, it's fun to see different world sites (quite surreal in person after seeing photos all your life), but I still believe nothing compares to taking the time (if you have it) to embrace the culture in which the country you are visiting is home to. For example, one of my biggest pet peeves is when I go to places like Cambodia (somewhere exotic and foreign; customs completely different to our Western society) and the people I'm with go straight for the big juicy steak at an up-class restaurant. Why did you come on this trip if you're going to eat what you had for dinner last Wednesday night back home? Try the traditional food. If you don't like it, then by all means don't eat it, but give it a try. It's out of respect for me. They're opening their country up to you, the least you can do is get a taste (both literally and figuratively) of their ways. It's adventurous, potentially insightful, and hopefully will teach you to be a much more tolerant and mature person, and you'd be a fool to disagree with that statement. I'm sorry I came across as being a humbug. I'll be honest and say that that kind of offended me. There was nothing fake about what I said. I've travelled around the world and find it a total waste when people don't "do as the Romans do". I'm not saying that riding a camel under the Pyramids or holding your hands up against the Tower of Pisa shouldn't be considered traveling, I'm saying don't go on a sightseeing trip then brag about being travalled. THAT to me is the limiting form of travel we're discussing. You travel not just to see the world, but to experience it.
Ben Schulte To be completely honest, I agree with very nearly everything you said. Some people just want to check boxes on a list to say they've been there, done that. I think I have even seen an interview with Neistat where he said that this video was only reasonable because it was on a corporate budget, but he spent most of the trip on a plane and didn't like how little he got to experience of each country. I just thought your first comment was really misguided in the context of this video, it's not like he was dining in 5 star restaurants or anything. So I thought you were being snobbish, but I take it back, you're no humbug. :) don't worry about the long reply. It was a fine read.
+YourFastLife! - CARS Well for one its not like they're making tiny profits on their merchandise. Two, Nike products sell for themselves so maybe cut back on advertisements for products that will do well on their own. Three, this is fucking Nike guys come on if they really wanted to they could.

I think a lot of us who watch his videos want to just be him. literally. But we cant and to get where he was takes a ton of work. I'm not lazy I'm just not that determined maybe? I guess just "suck it up and do it" whatever "IT" is, what most people would say.

I'm amazed at his work, even his oldest of videos look like they took place in present day. Either Casey hasn't let go or he was ahead of the game, but it's amazing. All the shots and editing are done really well for 2012. I started watching him last year when he was in Romans Vlogs, and starting watching his own Vlogs. I'm in to technology and video work, and back then through 2010- 2013, there a lot a rare videos with good quality at the time in RUclips, even ahead of its time that I'm now just seeing like Casey's movies.
Been watching Casey since 200k subs. His videos have always been amazing and I used always ask myself how the hell did he only have 200k subs!? Glad to see he finally is blowing up
+PHer you must of never watched one of his other daily vlogs, they are the exact same way. He puts excellent work into every vlog and that's why they turn out amazing even one sponsored by Nike
***** most of his videos, sponsored or not do look the same since his early work. I was asking bc I've seen others have the same type of style even in older videos from 2011, 2012. Some have 1080, which wasn't that frequent back then, but some managed to upload such and or even 720 with the editing looks modern. I'm just curious in all this I guess.
I always watch this for inspiration. The quote "Do one thing everyday that scares you", has actually influenced my actions, and life. I would never have seen it if it weren't for this. Thanks Casey for making this video!
Everyone can, yes. So get the money, do the job, do the work, have the faith, take leaps, let go of things, sacrifice your tv time. Want something different try differently.
NO WAY!!! I literally saw this video on Vimeo when it first came out. Never realised you had a RUclips... This video made me take a gap year and decide I want to travel as much as I possible can. Thank you man, you inspired me to Scuba dive with sharks in The Bahamas, work in an orphanage in Peru, teach in Ghana and take a selfie with a soldier in North Korea!
Actually, I feel that this is the *best possible* commercial for a slogan "Make it Count." What Casey did was unexpected, but *he made it count.* He didn't just walk on a treadmill in front of a green screen for their commercial. He made their money count, he made their time count, every single person who watched this, he made their time count. So next time look beyond the object of something: Casey spending Nike's money on a vacation, and focus on the meaning of something. I think you can figure that one out.
uunknown uunknown I know I was just thinking that like how did he convince them that this would be a good video, I think if anyone else tried to do a video like these it would never come close to what Casey created
+swiIson remember that Casey is a commercial business man. I didnt say the travel budget was 100k. the entire budget was 100k, includes production, edit, travel, and then profit for brand casey on top.
Just saw about Muhammad Ali. Decided to watch this video again. We can't forget to make the days count. "Don't count the days, make the days count" - Muhammad Ali, Rest in Peace.
Cases you're a fucking inspiration to everyone. I have to write a speech for tomorrow to hopefully get a spot in the School Representative Council and you have given me the fucking motivation to write this speech like a fucking boss and I thank you.
If someone is going to sponsor me to make them a movie to promote smth, I would also use the opportunity to travel around the world. Casey you're one lucky bastard.
But that is the point :) A Lot of people get the budget to make commercials, but Casey used it in a way so he enjoyed it, and made a good damn commercial. The best one i've seen probably, really inspirational!
Honestly, one of the most inspiring videos ever posted to YT. After all these years, I still think about the music, editing, quotes, shots put together, the buildup, it's all so amazing. And it reminds me to just go. Keep moving, keep running, always make it count.

PHer No matter what pointless argument you are pulling off This guy is inspiring millions counting me and all the video-making enthusiasts out there.
The fact that this was 11 years ago and I’m coming back to watch it today is crazy. Genius
Me too
I always watch this for inspiration. The quote "Do one thing everyday that scares you", has actually influenced my actions, and life. I would never have seen it if it weren't for this. Thanks Casey for making this video!
Imagine the jet lag
+Christian Lind Jet Lag? Jet lag is for pussies
+nosecomosellama you definitely didnt Travel much xD
F3l_rexfx I have, it just that I find so stupid that buzzword ''Jet lag'' that young rich use to fit in. I mean, just say you are sleepy
nosecomosellama well jetlag is when you are sleepy because of a time difference, not just being sleepy.
+nosecomosellama There's a difference between jetlag and being sleepy. I rolled my eyes when you called jetlag a buzzword.
The most amazing part of this video is that Casey and Max lived an entire life in 10 days. You can too, but if it's meant to be it's up to me.
Dash-n-Cars Why is it up to you if I can too? 😂
Elias Schnetzer Well.. if it's up to me... for you... then I say "Do it" 😁
Everyone can but not everyone has the time or the money
Everyone can, yes. So get the money, do the job, do the work, have the faith, take leaps, let go of things, sacrifice your tv time. Want something different try differently.
Get the money, Do the work, Take the dare, Take the leap. And try differently if one way doesn't work.
Still watching this..10 years later
The editing in this video is on point 👌😏
probably because he is a know film director ... :D
he said in the description that his friend max did the editing
Doty Fuzz gg Tim 89+
I like how he basically admits that he takes money he was given for a movie budget and instead gives himself a free vacation on Nike's dime lol.
Way more in fact. Casey's youtube channel wasn't the only source for this vid.
I think you can figure that one out.
but that trips also got 24 million views, so much more publicity than a regular ad
uunknown uunknown this was a movie though ;)
uunknown uunknown I know I was just thinking that like how did he convince them that this would be a good video, I think if anyone else tried to do a video like these it would never come close to what Casey created
I keep coming back to this video!!! Such a great video
Jesus.. how much was the budget even?!
+Omar Massoud $100,000
+christopher bridgland Most cost-effective Nike commercial ever.
+swiIson lolz
+swiIson remember that Casey is a commercial business man. I didnt say the travel budget was 100k. the entire budget was 100k, includes production, edit, travel, and then profit for brand casey on top.
+Black Peak Depends on where he's from and to where. Airline tickets aren't more than several thousand each.
Just saw about Muhammad Ali. Decided to watch this video again.
We can't forget to make the days count.
"Don't count the days, make the days count" - Muhammad Ali, Rest in Peace.
It's when you rewatch videos like this that you understand why Casey had to quit his daily vlog.
So excited to see what comes next.
10 years later, still one of the best videos on the platform
This is the best video I have ever seen
y ou like commercials
Toby Howard You haven’t watched any porn then...

Cases you're a fucking inspiration to everyone. I have to write a speech for tomorrow to hopefully get a spot in the School Representative Council and you have given me the fucking motivation to write this speech like a fucking boss and I thank you.
How did it go?
This was the easiest and best ROI of Nike marketing spend of the decade

Michael Oh bro what are you on?
+Michael Oh mood
Poor you!
seanoleary1979 and why is that?
If someone is going to sponsor me to make them a movie to promote smth, I would also use the opportunity to travel around the world. Casey you're one lucky bastard.
But that is the point :) A Lot of people get the budget to make commercials, but Casey used it in a way so he enjoyed it, and made a good damn commercial. The best one i've seen probably, really inspirational!
It has nothing to do with luck. The dude has been grinding since he rambled into New York almost 20 years ago.
That's right. There is No pain No gain!! We have to do more like Casey!!
Nobody is going to sponsor you dimwit!

This doesnt make me fell bad about my life or broke, it makes me want to work harder..

Are you back yet?
Honestly, one of the most inspiring videos ever posted to YT. After all these years, I still think about the music, editing, quotes, shots put together, the buildup, it's all so amazing. And it reminds me to just go. Keep moving, keep running, always make it count.
The editing though! Dang
honestly one of the best youtube vids ive ever seen

0:01, one of the most gentle unboxings Casey has ever done.
More than 8 years later, still one of the best things you could watch on RUclips
Casey Neistat is easily one of the coolest people currently on this planet.
It’s been 12 years and I’m back watching it. Hello old friend

When this was made RUclips wasn’t about giving away 100,000$ to be the last one in a circle it was about true pieces of art
You can still make a piece of art and people would love it
That's GOT to be one of the most inspirational videos on the Internet!
Awesome!
