    Fetus dies at 74, Kitty died at 60, Dock died at 74, anyway we all have to die, great show, I'm 66, I'll be 67 soon. Death awaits us all. My hope is in Jesus Christ.

      At 76 I realize I have been so blessed in this regard; I have been allowed to live and have experienced all of life's cycles. I too as you, have believed God and the gospel of His Christ for my salvation. One experience left for me, I want to experience the separation of my body from my spirit, receiving my glorified body: to see and be with Christ eternally and to have a body that will never see death and is free from sin, In Jesus's name Amen.

    My dad (1935 - 2018) used to deliver newspapers to Gene Autry when he was a young boy. They became friends and remained as friends till Gene died. My dad told me the story of when Gene bought Melody Ranch (formerly Monogram Ranch) in 1953. Gene invited my dad to check out the place. My dad was going through some of the buildings and found this wood carved sculpture bust of a bearded man, which appears to be a wiskey bottle stopper. I still have it to his day. This was apparently was used by Monogram. Also, at the time when Gene purcased this place my dad had made this home movie there along with a few friends. Sometime during the 1990s this film was transferred to VCR tape, which I still have.
    The main stories I always heard were the days of filming Gunsmoke and I believe Bonanza.
    He talked about how he was always behind and watching the camera guys filming many shows. He was there so much that he ended up doing work as an extra, such as running in the streets from gun fights etc etc. Anyway, it was not until 2018 when my dad passed away I found this very nice collection of autograph photos of actors / actresses from those shows.
    My dad had several personal photos of Smiley Burnette, Pat Buttram and many others. Some photos of cowboy actors in "Nudie" outfits I do not even recognized. Speaking of Nudie western outfit, my dad had many clothing persoanlly made for him during the 1950s. Shirts alone were $2,000 each in the 1950s. Usually these clothes are one of a kind. However, he had a carbon copy of one of Gene's shirt made by Nudie himself. My dad was buried in that shirt along with his Rockerbuster boots.

Up there in Hollywood Heaven are some very fine folk. I'd like to hang out with Ken Curtis. One of the Sons of the Pioneers, he had a fine baritone voice, but it was his charity work that best characterized him as a man. Most of his life went unheralded by the press more bent on glitz and glamor, rumor and scandal. Curtis brought Light wherever he went. Bless ya, Festus.

    in 1974 I worked security at a county fair where Ken Curtis performed his singing and comedy stage show. I got my picture taken with him and his autograph. I liked the way he treated the public. I have a story about the day he appeared at the fair that is hard to believe in today's world.

      Ok, first a little back ground. The fair occupied 4 square city blocks. In the front was the Entrance and Fair Office and in the back was the Grandstands/Horse Race Track/Rodeo Grounds. For the public to get from the Entrance to the Grandstands they had to walk through the heart of the fair where all the Exhibit Buildings and a ride on scale model train was located. That year there were 3 head liners. Mac Davis, who at the time was a hot country/western singer/sex symbol (at his night concert, all acts did a afternoon and night show, I was stationed in front of the stage to prevent ladies from crawling up on it!). Tanya Tucker, BEFORE she destroyed her career by breaking up Glen Campbell’s marriage AND Ken Curtis as Festus.
      After their afternoon show the stars did a press meet and greet in the Fair Office. There was a Trailer on the Race Track’s infield that served as a Green Room. Procedure was, after the show the star was rushed to the Green Room and a limo was sent to pick them up and drive them to the Fair Office for the press and then they would be hustled back into the limo and taken to their hotel until the night concert. I was IN the office and got to see Mac for 1 second and Tanya for 2 seconds! As their handlers rushed them in and out! Then came the day Ken preformed. My Grandfather was a fan of Gun Smoke and Ken so I decided I would get Festus’s autograph for him. You usually had to do that by getting to the Green Room, which was NOT accessible to the public and passing a piece of paper via a handler to the star. NOT Ken! I found him standing alone, back stage, watching his warm up act, a Air Force Dog demonstration. He cheerfully gave me the autograph, also signed one to me and signed a few others for the rodeo people as well. After his sold out show was over he got down from the stage and signed more autographs. THEN he did the unexpected! I was on my way back from a message run and I looked in the direction of the Grandstands, there coming out was Ken, guided by a handler and behind him, EVERY person from the stands as well as EVERY person ON the grounds! He looked like the Pied Piper! Every body was laughing, Ken was signing more autographs. There was a Candied Apple vender just outside the Fair Office and Ken stopped at his stand and tried to buy a apple but the stunned vender just gave Ken one. He entered the Office and did his press meet/greet and then one of the Office Guards (Then it was a cash business so there were two ARMED guards assigned to the Office) had brought a camera and he took time to pose with Fair personnel, including ME! (I still have the autograph and picture). When word came that his ride was waiting, left the Office and waded into the crowd surrounding the Office, walked to the Front Gate where his ride, a convertible sports car was waiting to take him to a friend’s farm for a late lunch. And with a honk and a wave he rode off down the street.@@jenniferharris1508

    They are all dead now except one. .... Newly. Buck Taylor is now playing the part of a beef Rancher on Yellowstone. Sadly he died laying under the stars with his head on his saddle on a big round up. Kevin Costner as John Dutton on Yellowstone was laying beside him .So now Buck is not in that show but he is alive and still acting. Only surviving Gunsmoke actor.

    • @richpontone1
      @richpontone1 Год назад +1

      Funny, Buck played the role of a psycho young fool who got gunned down by Matt in an earlier episode before he got resurrected later as Newly.
      Loved Burt Reynolds but everyone told him to get into Movies as his Talents were wasted on the show. Great advice there.
      Loved the earlier Black and White 30 minute episodes where there was more interactions with the main characters. The Show went down in quality when they instead went with the Psychos of the week.
      The guy playing Doc refused to do the Show unless he got residuals from the reruns. He said that he knew too many friends who were in the poor house with their families because they didn’t sign on for those same residuals. Man, he was so Right on that.
      Liked Ken Curtis, and look at his Wiki page for this multi-talented Actor/Musician/Singer but his over the top performances consumed too much Oxygen on the Show and took away the performances of his talented Co-Stars.

      Get your facts straight! This destroys the credibility of your entire video by not closely fact checking the truth. So idiotic!!!
