I like how he says east asia and not asian. Many people still think Asian are only Chinese Japanese Korean( east asia) . And completely disregard the rest of asia.
Yess, people actually think I'm a mix of white and Asian. I'm usually like oh, you must mean middle eastern (because I am) but they're like no no Asian. I think my eyes look east Asian, but I'm actually west Asia lolll
@@javierolmedo502 I'm actually a girl haha but I'm from the USA. My mom is from Venezuela and my dad is from Iran. Both of them have European ancestry though, so I'm pretty much half white and then a mix of those 2 things!
My whole life I’ve been bullied for having “asian looking” eyes, even though I come from Eastern Europe and my eyes are blue. My dad has the same exact feature and we look alike. I never really cared about my ancestral background, and I was absolutely sure that I don’t have any Asian connections in my family, but after watching your video I asked my dad about our ancestry and where does this eye shape come from. Turns out his grandmother was Mongolian!
That first part was upsetting. Bullying someone because they look different from you is so mean. Especially based off ethnicity. I hope it stopped for you and your doing well :) But that’s cool, be proud of yourself, you stick out in a beautiful way :) Part of my family is of Ukrainian decent and while we don’t have those features, I won’t be surprised if I have some hidden DNA from those Mongolian conquests a thousand years ago as well as earlier migrations of Paleolithic Homo sapiens from Siberia who crossed the Urals during the late Pleistocene and early Holocene epochs. (See 9:13) Really just shows how closely related we are as a species at the end of the day.
I didn't get bullied, but people had a nickname for me which was reintroduced a couple weeks ago. It hurts as its my biggest insecurity and I feel like I'm offending a whole nation when I'm European as well. I don't believe I have any Asian ancestry either.
Obviously, since Africa is where humans originated, almost all of the features we see in humans can be found in them. Even Blue eyes and freckles I think can also be found in Africans. I would love to study African history and peoples more.
Yup, there are no genes that make a person a part of their socially assigned “race”- like Asian, black, white. Race is all based on appearance and not some gene. For instance, the gene for skin pigment of two random black people will be more genetically similar to that of a non- black person than to each other. So race is not a useful genetic classification.
Got my DNA tested. Says I'm not Asian. xD But my grandfather got a tiny percentage of East Asian and he has hooded eyes. Clearly I didn't inherit his Asian DNA ha ha (Yes, we show up as DNA matches; we're really related before anyone goes there.)
CadetPrivateRawr It's interesting how those work! My sister took a DNA test and discovered our Grandmother's biological family. We all knew she was adopted, but she and her family never knew that she had been basically kidnapped and sold through a "closed adoption" way back in the 40s, and her family has been looking for her ever since. We're also finding out our family history is full of affairs that they apparently thought could be quietly hidden 😅
We all are "Homosapien" ! What made us look different is just the weather condition where we live. People living up north have lighter hair and skin with narrower noses because of low sun light and colder air. People living in the south have darker skin, darker hair and bigger flat noses due to strong sun and hot weather. That's it. Hey People! Don't let our different appearances bring us war!. Hyena, wolf and dingo are all dogs. They look different just because of where they live. But they never go to war against each other just because how they look. We are human, I do believe we are kinder than animals.
Dude true! My grandma is Chinese so while I do look East Asian it’s “genetic” in other peoples eyes (on the Rez) and so I was “bullied” or teased for it (I never paid much attention to it) but it’s like, a whole bunch of people on my Rez who teased me about it look more “Asian” than I do and it’s funny. Like I look very much like both my grandmothers and one of them who is definitely not Asian (full blooded Cree) Sorry for my mini rant

@El Maccho I think i know more about my own country than someone from another, don't you think? And the Swedish-finns exist, but even them mostly look regular. Swedes are pure and we have more in common even with Armenians and Persians than with any Asians. Finns were kind of slaves to us. We were pretty racist against them, and we still are to a certain extent.
@El Maccho We are linguistically and genetically closer to other Indoeuropeans than Finns. The blonde "Finns" aren't real Finns or possibly half-bred Swedes or Latvians. The more deeper into the country you go, the more you'll see that Finns look very different from us. Greeks and Armenians for example have the same facial structure as us, same kind of eyes, skull shape, height and so on.. Your haircolor doesn't prove anything. There are blonde Arabs, actually quite a lot of them. Are they Swedish? No they aren't. They're still Arab. Same with you. We are not related to you, and i can provide you several links of our genes and linguistics to prove it. Search for the Haplogroup of Swedes and Greeks for example and compare them with the Haplogroups of a Finn from Eastern Finland and not some assimilated Swede from Helsinki. There you have it. And as for the language, even a 5 year old could figure out our language sounds more similar to spanish or french than what it does to Finnish.
@@012-g1b What a dumb RUclips argument between the Swede who's claiming Swedes are all pure white blonde Aryan with 0% Asiian and the Finn(?) who's claiming Finns are the most blonde and white.
"Asian eyes" or "the Epicanthal fold" were evolved for the Artic North. The feature most accentuated in native North Siberian, to Inuits of North America. It is an extra fat layer to protect human eyes against Artic frost, freezing winds and snow blindness. Asian hair with straight, thick individual strand, but sparingly distributed per inches, is also a result of human adaptation to the extreme cold climate, to easily wick sweat and moisture away from the skin to prevent frost bites.
@Lord of frogs great great grandfather Probly at some point those people were just memeing than being actually serious. Like the Finnish is Mongolian meme
Due to the amount of Ancient North Eurasian ancestry of Inuits and Siberians, they have lower percentage of single eyelid than East Asians, the reason, Ancient North Eurasians were 30% East Asian but 70% West Eurasian, darker skinned caucasoid people. If you look closely Inuits, Kets, Native Americans don’t have mono lid for the most part, 20% don’t have epicanthic folds.
Actually my view of having asian eyes are pretty simple even though I was half asian I didn't have the fold but I did it with a facial exercise tip and now I have an Asian looking epicentic fold I did this to fit into my asian community and be more asian than I used to be

@My Pets Trumpʼs eyes donʼt look like that at all. Plus, he has blue eyes, thus thereʼs no resemblances at all with asian eyes - they have a complete different shape/forming
Funny you should say that; despite not being contemporarily pretty, I have often been told my natural "fox" eye, upswept cheekbones, long sharp jawline & extremely pale colouration with dark grey eyes make me very striking (my family used to laugh me for being weird-looking), & even allowed me to work quite comfortably as a model, for a few years. Turns out photographers don't always want simply pretty; sometimes what stands out best in art is something that looks a bit more strange, in person.
Triggered D just because they listen to kpop doesn't mean they want to be asian. all the white kids at my school listen to black music, does that mean they want to be black? no. what about when an arab wants to listen to spanish music? all the people around the globe listen to despacito. do they wanna be spanish? no.

@ROBLOX Squad Dont try to make your eyes look big. You're Chinese, dont try to be anything else. I think your parents kinda failed with educating you on these kinds of things.
@Lars Liam Vilhelm That's because Europeans are the most mixed populations in the world. Blue eyes originated with a black skinned population called western hunter gatherers and blonde hair originated with another dark skinned population called Ancient North Eurasians who are also partly related to Native Americans. Southern Europeans have a bit more Anatolian Hunter Gatherer in them which is also very common in Arabs, those populations got short because of farming, then again Europeans became pink because of farming as well, so in a sense no other population went through what Europeans went through but it doesn't mean Europeans didn't get these features from other populations.
@Ali Xander I'm talking about the two genes SLC24A5 and SLC45A with Herc2/OCA2 for predictability of light skin (de pigmentation) , Blonde hair and blue eyes which are absent from Europeans more than 7,000 years ago but developed by Europeans since then, that's what lead to the pink undertone of modern Europeans and southern Europeans have more olive undertones due to more Anatolian Neolithic ancestry.
@Shoahshana Goldberg-Shekelstein Wrong and you're the Morón for not knowing that Blue eyes originated with the Cheddar Man, a Western Hunter Gather (WHG) which separated from the Ancient North Eurasians 20,000 yesrs ago and from East Asians 40,000 years ago, WHG was dark skinned and lacked any of the alleles for predictability of light skin. My grandma had very strong east asian eyes. When I was an ignorant child, I used to tell her "wow grandma, you look chinese" (Please excuse the ignorance of a stupid 4 year old romanian child). It makes very much sense now. Her eyes were slanted and "almond" like. I too inherited that, and it makes a lot of sense considering the mongolians came to what today is known as romania.
Luri Ley Yes, I am from Romania too, from Constanta to be more precised. I have grown up with all the “You look Chinese!” stuff, from my friends, classmates and even my friends’ parents. My eyes are elongated, slanted, almond like, and I have a bit of an epichantic fold. Considering the fact that in Dobruja all these populations have settled, and there are a lot of asian ethnic groups in this area, it is a very plausible theory.
Mongol armies did not pass their genetics to the Europeans that much. Oghur Turks, Pechenegs, Magyars and Kipchaks are responsible for that, and maybe also the Huns and Avars and Ottomans
Hello fellow Romanian. 👋 Both my parents immigrated from romania, my dad has hooded eyes but I didn’t inherit it. And most of my Romanian relatives does have any East Asian characteristics at all. :/
Some people may have Asian eyes because of genetics Some people may have Asian eyes because they're high But one thing's for certain, Genghis Khan couldn't keep it in his pants.
I have "east asain eyes" and I'm white, but it is due to my mom having ancestry of people who moved from east-asia to the US a very long time ago. It's only my mom and I who have those eyes in my family, for some reason my father and 2 brothers don't
And also not all Asian's have asian eyes. There are a lots of country in Asia that doesn't have asian eyes(in general). Such as Bangladesh, India, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon and many more. Many people have this misconceptions that all Asian's have these eyes which is not true.
@@shofikulislam6403 I said in general. If you don't belong to any ethnic groups of people then it's very rare for you to have asian eyes. You can have it but it's very rare. Look at the people around you you'll see.
Sharing a common trait doesn't necessarily mean you have a common ancestor. There's also convergent evolution, which means two species (or groups) will develop the same feature because their environment is basically similar.
That might be where he is leading us regarding the southern Africans developing independently of any Asian mixing...I shall find out in the mentioned video...
He definitely has the evidence. A number of haplogroups (a haplogroup is a group of genes in an organism that are inherited together from a single parent) - the Y-chromosome haplogroup N, and mtDNA (mitochondrial DNA) haplogroups A, B, and D (they used to include C, but this haplogroup is now thought to have to possibly arisen in Central Asia), as well the genetic mutation allele G on EDAR370A - each originated among a single ancestor in Eastern Asia, and eventually spread to Europe and Africa, where they are found in small amounts of various populations there.
The immediate ancestor of the Y-chromosome haplogroup N is the Y-chromsome haplogroup NO, which originated in a single ancestor in Eastern Asia - more specifically, Southeast Asia or present-day Southern China - over 40,000 years ago. The Wikipedia entry on Y-chromosome haplogroup NO has a chart which shows how widespread Y-DNA haplogroup NO is all over Asia (north, south, east, and west), chunks of Oceania, a large portion of Europe, particularly in Northern Europe (e.g., Scandinavia) and Eastern Europe, and the island of Madagascar off the east coast of Africa: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haplogroup_NO en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haplogroup_NO#/media/File:Haplogroup_NO.png
In middle school, people used to ask me if I was mixed because I have almond shaped eyes and somewhat distinct epicanthic folds rather than hooded eyes. I went to a high school with a decently large Korean population and a lot of mixed kids so it was not all that unexpected. Unsurprisingly, I'm mostly genetically Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and Norwegian. My mom and grandad have the same trait and also used to get questions or comments about being mixed.
Same. I consider myself Asian, but that's only considering that I am geographically situated in Asia. If I were to be asked if I embody the stereotypical Asian appearance, then I don't think I fit in well. The stereotypical Asian appearance is largely based off the predominant East Asian appearance anyway. In this age, we're better off not labelling people who may or may not look Asian. :-)

The "asian eyes" is actually spread from Haplogroup NO. Haplogroup N were separated from Haplogroup O which is dominant in East and Southeast Asia. Haplogroup N then went to North Asia. Haplogroup N were said to be a special trait to Uralic- or Finno-Ugric speaking population especially as high frequency or primary paternal haplogroup. People have this tendancy do divide groups because of physical characteristics, but what's actually going on is that everyone is related. We're all human, and whoever comes up with an ideology or statement that contradicts equality in any way simply doesn't understand reality or is too lazy to properly research and see what's going on.
@Lars Liam Vilhelm Well, true! I should have mentioned more things that influence the subdivision of groups by society (though that doesn't mean I'm not aware of them). Saying only that affects the way people interpret what I wanted to say. Also, I should've surely researched more! I certainly said too much knowing too little. And I do apologize for my terrible writing skills.
Thank you for this video. I am French with epicanthic eyes. When I was born it was written on my medical documents : "eyes : epicanthus" . I was suffering from this difference when I was younger because children made me notice it with cruelty. However I have always found that on Asian people it was really beautiful. Today I am 37 years old and I am no more criticized with my eyes but I even have compliments. The only thing that bothers me is that people are still asking me what are my origins, despite I cannot say anything else than "french"... I would have prefer to have an "origin", because when I was young some people even didn't believe me and thought that I was lying, trying to hide something... It was a big complex and it took me a long time to accept myself. I think that Asian people are one of the most beautiful people in the world and I love epicanthic eyes in other counties too. And... The epicanthic eyefold developed to protect the eyes in cold weather, as in the high altitude and northern latitudes of Mongolia. But also in the cold, high altitude regions of Scandinavia. In Scandinavia in fact, it's called the Scandinavian Eyefold. And also developed in the high mountain ranges of South America. It probably evolved independently, but for the same reason.

Balkans may have had Huns influence. Finnish and Estonians definitely not. So those 2-10% is what is left from our ancestors who came here from Asia more than 10 000 years ago

Genetics studies show that of all the major ethnolinguistic national groups in Europe, the Finns have among the highest East Eurasian ("Mongoloid") DNA component in their gene pools. Part of my family is of Ukrainian decent and while we don’t have those features, I won’t be surprised if I have some hidden DNA from those Mongolian conquests a thousand years ago as well as earlier migrations of Paleolithic Homo sapiens from Siberia who crossed the Urals during the late Pleistocene and early Holocene epochs.

People living in the south have darker skin, darker hair and bigger flat noses due to strong sun and hot weather. That's it. Hey People! Don't let our different appearances bring us war!.
There are blonde Arabs, actually quite a lot of them. Are they Swedish? No they aren't. They're still Arab. Same with you.

In conclusion, no feature belongs to one race, any race can have any feature. Some features are just more common in certain areas of the world
@Lars Liam Vilhelm yeah, im pretty sure brown eyes are the dominant allele and brown eyes is most common there so it makes sense

Youre totally right, but here he has the evidence to prove that it was mainly due to genetics from the ancestors who spread throughout the world.
Guillaume GENETET f
Both Irish and Norwegan have these eyes.
I’m Asian and I don’t have the “Asian” eyes
How is that so? I only have ancestry and I have Asian eyes.

Finno-Ugric speaking then when to North Europe and settled there. Hungarians, Estonians, Finnish, Saami, Khanty, etc are Finno-Ugric people. (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finno-Ugric_peoples )
@@Aim201 R and reminiscent haplogroups brought it to to Europe too.
@@mahakalabhairava9950 what do you mean? I'm talking about 'asian eyes'
@@Aim201 So am I. It is not tightly connected to haplogroups.
@@mahakalabhairava9950 what do you mean? The facial features is a part of DNA. Then how can a white can have brown eyes if his or her mom have blue eyes and his or her dad have brown eyes. That's have been proven. Heterogeneous and homogeneous. Please give proof of how it's not connected to Haplogroup?
im asian, more specifically filipino. my family never had the "asian eyes" so no one ever thought i was asian
@Lars Liam Vilhelm they can be. Not every East Asian has so called “small eyes” or “monolids”. 😒
@Lars Liam Vilhelm I’m talking individually not a whole ass group
@Lars Liam Vilhelm lot of filipinos dont have that feature though
@Lars Liam Vilhelm Filipinos aren't even East Asian, they're Southeast Asian. Also, Filipinos are diverse. Not everybody from the Philippines looks "Chinese", in fact most don't look anything like Chinese. Most Filipinos look like Indonesians and Malays. Plus, there are different types of epicanthic folds and eye shapes. Most Filipinos don't have monolids. Monolids are most frequent in East Asia, not Southeast Asia. Double eyelids with epicanthic fold is more common in Southeast Asia (including Philippines).
@A Zee There are many Southeast Asians who are questioned by Americans about how "Asian" they are, more specifically brown-skinned Southeast Asians who don't look like East Asians.
im black and half of my family has "asian" eyes... its freaky...i was in china town last week and i saw so many people who look like family members. it was funny and shocking.

I'm a Malaysian malay,I was mistaken as Hispanic or latino, but my eyes are like upturned or downturned eyes,my mom had a slight monolid eyes and she's very pale even as a malay, while im a normal brown skinned person.
Like the first reply said, take it with a grain of salt. These tests require improvement. One major companies lacked data from East Asia data and I’m sure they need more data from Africa, because it’s so ethnically diverse.
What happened was the percentages of mine and other East Asians ethnicity results changed when they updated their algorithms. So this shows there is even more room for improvement/ it’s not an exact science to begin with.
How is the DNA test

I have "Asian-looking" eyes and I'm white. My eyes have a more cut crease though. I had 2 Chinese friends in high school who asked if I had Asian heritage (I don't). I remember when I first started learning how to use makeup when I was younger, the tutorials for "white people" weren't flattering on my eyes and made them look even smaller, but I learned about Ulzzang techniques (a Korean makeup style) and other Asian makeup styles and they were much more flattering on me. I have mostly Irish and North Western European ancestry. It's cool to finally learn about where they have come from. I used to not like my eye shape, but now I love them and think they're my best feature!
Pfff... i am white, grey eyed and i have only slavic ancestry- yet here i am with very slightly cat eyes. My guess? Mother Nature fucks with everyone, and sometimes we get slightly different things in this lottery. Asians do not have monopoly on cat eyes :)

You eyes indeed are somewhat special but not Asian type. surely different with most of us
I live in the English Midlands and the few people I've known with vaguely Asian looking eyes (that don't have Asian ancestry) all have some Welsh ancestry.
@Stephen Ash There were North people from Viking land "today's north 4 nations" entered Britain lands. But back to their homeland, there were mongoloid people lived to the even norther parts. we call them Sami people who blood mix with North people. Then Nords brought mongoloid genes to your island.

Theres something called a dna test
Theres something called 'diek size'

@@okayokaynowkids7673 There is something called "brain size". The more european someone the smaller it is. And you seem to fall into the more european group.

I've been puzzled about for years myself and so did other family members, because she is completely different from her other 3 sisters. My maternal great-grandma happened to just have Asian eyes, but her other physical features were those commonly found amongst Italians, but this just can't explain why one of her daughters looks like completely from another country.

People have this tendancy do divide groups because of physical characteristics, but what's actually going on is that everyone is related. We're all human, and whoever comes up with an ideology or statement that contradicts equality in any way simply doesn't understand reality or is too lazy to properly research and see what's going on.
Not only that.. People are also divided by countries and language but yeah like you said we all are humans afterall
@@冬天-c7m Yep!
@Lars Liam Vilhelm Well, true! I should have mentioned more things that influence the subdivision of groups by society (though that doesn't mean I'm not aware of them). Saying only that affects the way people interpret what I wanted to say. And, like you've said, the definition of races is something made by society indeed based on many, MANY more things, and I know that. Though it wasn't a good thing to not mention other things.
I'm Brazilian and i have these eyes. I have 90% descendents from Italy and Portugal, but in my family there's natives indigenous too - so probably is that.
I have watched Irish actor Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Killing of a Sacred Deer)in a few films, and his eyes are very pacific Asian like.
It probably evolved independently, but for the same reason.
so my thinking was correct when i thought that it was because of different climates that our eyes evolved differently.

maybe people's eyes evolved like that because it helps when living in cold place?
asian eyes are actualy protect you from the wind.
they protect from the sandstorms actually. Thats the evolutionary reason.
Slashplite Not only sandstorms, also wind. A lot Arabs have big eyes even though they live in and around the dessert.
In east asia there are a lot of mountains. The eyes evolved as protection for the wind that was much stronger in the mountain.
Right now they live in a desert areas. But 10'000 years ago it was lush greenlands, great for farming. Even Sahara used to be grassland.
highly debatable
If y'all look at east asian celebrities you'd know not all east asians have "asian eyes".

Agreed. The Huns had a huge DNA influence on the Balkans
@@livedandletdie just a side note: the nations who have the most Asian DNA in Europe: Sami, Finnish, Estonians, Hungarians- do not speak indo-european languages, they speak Uralic and Finno-Ugric languages, which originate from Ural mountains and are more related to Japanese, Korean and Altaic languages than to any other language spoken in Europe. The Finns' Finno-Ugric ethnolinguistic cousins, the Sami (considered an indigenous people of Scandinavia/Fennoscandia), have more, but they don't have their own country.
I'm finnic from Estonia and i have blonde hair with blue mongoloid eyes. Btw this is not my pic on the photo but i'm very similar :)
Kvass: Finngolia? Hahaha out of breath..
You mentioned southern Africans - I have often seen hooded eyes in lots of West Africans (Nigerians etc)
My brother has puffy/hooded eye type as well. Nigerians seem to have it, I agree

Lechiffresix six asians would rather see themselves as closer to whites
I have a friend who is 1/2 Japanese (mom) and 1/2 French (dad). She has very distinctive Japanese facial features like the eye shape and wider cheekbones, but light green eyes and dark brown hair typical of many French. She is so beautiful and unique!
From south africa... both myself and my girlfriend have strong Khoisan roots, but shes got the asiatic eyes...
