    ABOUT: Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscope Review
    Littmann Stethoscopes have been at it since the 1960s when Dr. David Littmann patented a new stethoscope with vastly improved acoustical performance.
    It's certainly come a long way from Rene Laennec's first stethoscope in 1816 which comprised of a long, rolled paper tube to funnel the sound from the patient's chest, what an invention!
    This is just a real gem of a stethoscope.
    I see a lot of doctors at the hospital where I work with one of these hanging around their necks.
    I've really enjoyed this stethoscope, not just for the good acoustics but for the pretty hot pink tubing!
    I hope you will enjoy this review as much as I did use it!

    EMT here. We use mostly Littmann classics on our rigs, but I found early on that I have trouble hearing blood pressures in a moving ambulance and through thicker clothing. Invested in this and I'm never looking back. Leaps and bounds better than what I used for school, and a noticeable improvement over our (still fairly nice) rig scopes. Plus the rainbow with black tubing looks great!

    I bought this one for my friend as a congratulations gift for passing the TEAS exam. Got her name engraved in it and a matching nameplate. I farm but my mom was a nurse so I’m not TOTALLY oblivious to these sorts of things. I really hope I made a good choice because I wanted to get her something she’ll use and something that’ll last. I mean it’s too late cuz I already put the order in but any nurses who would be willing to give me their opinion, your input would be greatly appreciated!

      Hi there KYFreedoms! I’m gonna be brutally honest and biased and tell you that my favorite stethoscope is the one I’ve created myself “Björn Hall Stethoscopes” 😁😄 check them out if you want but setting that aside, I don’t think you can go wrong with a Littmann. There’s two types of stethoscopes, the cardiology type with dual lumen tubing and then you e got the “Y” frame which is your regular single lumen tubing (Littmann Classic III). It depends on what type she would like. Personally I get by absolutely fine with a single lumen tubing type stethoscope and I work in med/surg. The cardiology stethoscopes are great for those actually working in cardiology or critical care areas like ICU/CCU etc. but they are also more expensive and for my liking, a bit heavy and clumsy. But they are also top notch when it comes to acoustics. So I guess it depends on what type she likes, what area she works in, what stage she is on her nursing journey. I hope that helps and that I have t confused you even more 😂 Let me know if you have any other questions! Nurse Jenny

    Hello med tech here with a background in emergency care and trauma through my time in the Army. I have the classic III but a family member just bought me the Littmann cardiology IV. Which one would you recommend for geriatric care since I work in a care home

    • @NurseJenny
      @NurseJenny  2 года назад +1

      Your Littmann Classic III would be suitable for geriatric care but so would the Cardiology IV as well. You’re probably not wearing the stethoscope around your neck all day which makes both the Classic III and Carsiology IV suitable in your circumstance. Also remember that the Cardiology IV has dual lumen tubing and just slightly crisper acoustics 👍 I’d take the cardiology IV for a spin 😁 but if you find that it becomes a bit heavy and cumbersome, just swap to your Classic III.

      @@NurseJenny I wear my scope around my neck all day since it was the way I was taught. I have hearing loss through my time in service. I feel I would hear better with the IV. Would you recommend it to people with hearing loss?

    • @NurseJenny
      @NurseJenny  2 года назад +2

      In that case yes, the cardiology IV would be better for you because of the dual lumen tubing. Wearing it around your neck may not be an issue to you, it’s just one of the things I think about.

    • @NurseJenny
      @NurseJenny  2 года назад +2

      The Master cardiology does not give you the option to have a smaller chest piece available for kids/infants. If you are going to work with both children and adults, the cardiology IV might be more suitable. If you’re only working with adults, you could go with the Master cardiology. As far as the acoustics go, I believe they are the same.

    • @NurseJenny
      @NurseJenny  4 года назад +2

      Paul Shaver I haven’t tried the master cardiology yet! I did some research and word on the street is that the master cardiology is a hairline fracture better in acoustics. But with the Cardiology IV you get the adult and pediatric side of the chest piece and personally, I think it looks better ☺️

    • @NurseJenny
      @NurseJenny  5 лет назад

      vector cole Hi there! 👋
      I always say that the cardiology stethoscopes have the best acoustics because they have dual lumen tubing which creates just that little bit more crisp sound 👌 They are however a bit heavier and a bit more expensive. Then there’s also the electronic stethoscopes that enhance the sound even further, such as the “eko” brand. I haven’t tried it out myself yet but from what I can tell they are great! Of course they are quite expensive but would be an investment. I would probably try out a cardiology stethoscope first (like Littmann cardiology IV or MDF classic cardiology or Adscope 606 ultra lightweight cardiology). There’s many brands that do a ‘cardiology’ style stethoscope. Hope that helps Vector Cole ☺️👍🙏
