In this video, I review the Classic and Cardiology stethoscopes, focusing on their differences. I let you know which stethoscope I think is better and if the Cardiology IV is actually worth the investment.
Better yet, I do it all in under 5 minutes.

Thank you for sharing! I was having trouble deciding which one I should go with, I appreciate the video!!
I’m a current medical assisting student and I currently use a series 2 stethoscope. I have a difficult time hearing the sounds of the heart beat when doing blood pressure. I do hear it but it is very faint. Thanks to your video, I’m investing into the series 4. Can’t wait to get it and hear the difference
This review was so helpful. I've used a cheaper stethoscope to get me to my final semester, and I start as an extern 3 for my final semester in cardiac medical, where I was also offered a position for after graduation. Going to bite the bullet and go for the IV.
Thanks for this! I am starting my Accelerated Bsn this fall and my husband surprised me with the Littman cardiology IV. I thought it was maybe too advanced and was considering returning for the cardiology III. However, after this video I am going to keep and be thankful he splurged 😊
As an anesthesiology resident I strongly suggest to stick with the classic 3 and use the extra money to buy something nice for yourself
Depends on your work environment.
Disagree
Thanks for the vid! Not a nurse, but a paramedic. The "challenging" part, for me, is attending in a moving ambulance; or when outside on scene at an MVI. The 3 is great but the 4 allows me to hear just a bit more over the sirens, radio chatter, engine noise, things rattling around etc etc. BP in those situations is not fun lol. I didn't have my own 3, just one I found in the station so technically my first steth is the 4. Glad I just ate the cost and splurged a bit!
I've seen med surg nurses with the electric stethoscopes that ARNPs and docs use so hey, you chose what you want right? I'm personally gonna get the cardiology 4 because of all the alarms from vents and monitors in ICU. Thank you for sharing your opinion/experiences :)
Why is important to convert the pediatric side into an open bell???
What's the difference???
Thanks.
"Cardiology" models are more sensitive. Currently, two top USA quality scopes are Littmann Cardiology IV and the ADC Adscopes Cardiology 601, 602 & 606. Both brands have fantastic acoustics.
Well I'm a veterinarian student and it's super hard to hear the heart of a animal when it's agitated or when the owner it's talking to you, so i hope the cardiology lV gets the job done to provide the best service to our beautiful pets 😍💓
Thank Y for help ❤
Thank you very much for the video. I want to give one of those stethoscopes to my brother who is a pediatrician, which one would you recommend?. Thanks!!
Littmann Classic 2 pediatric
Happy New Year 2021.
My girlfriend is going to clinical for Cardiology as a MA. Idk if I should get her the cardiology master or stick classic
So I'm a basic emt barely getting into the field what would you recommend for starters.
Classic II or III is all you need. You will loose a few
Excelente! 😀
Thank you
Poxaa , queria que tivesse legenda em Português, pq iria ajudar muitoooo
should i get the cardiology IV as a medical assistant !?
Hi, I was wondering if you ended up getting it?! I am also an MA & im debating if I should get it as well or just get the classic three instead?
From an German nurse perspective where we aren't even allowed to take blood or take care of wounds, all doctors job. For what do you need an cardiology stethoscope or an stethoscope in general?
An ICU would be an ideal place where you might want to detect a change in patient's breathing status. I do find the classic 2 to be sufficient in most cases
@@UcheAfrica Yeah, there it might make sense but isn’t done here too. Im an trauma suricial icu nurse but why arent allowed to do that since stethoscope are apparently the status symbol of an doctor. That’s why im trying to get into university soon, nursing here is shit
@@Marco-bf4uu Wow, i guess there's a lot of difference btw practice from the United states. It sucks because nurses should be able to assess patients continously. I once detected a patient had a serious heart murmur and reported to the doctor. Also a patient can develop crackles from a fluid overload etc.
@@UcheAfrica Yes I think so too but here is traditionally just washing, giving food and medicine from watching us and gb nurse documentaries I thought we can do equally much..
Thanks which stethoscope can you recommend? what do you pay attention to when listening?
I love my Cardiology IV. It’s an investment because it’s more pricey, but it zones in on the sounds your suppose to be listening to (heart - lub dub- and lung- clear, crackles, coarse, etc) vs all the external noise.
If you can’t afford the Cardiology though, I work with plenty of nurses that still use the Classic. ☺️
@@nursevirginiairene Thanks, is the Littmann stethoscope also suitable for listening to yourself? without pre-knowledge ?
Any stethoscope can be used to listen to heart and lung sounds on anyone. It will help to know where to place it so you know whether your hearing heart or lung sounds, etc. Hope that helps.
@@nursevirginiairene Thank You.where can you buy the stehoscope? Thank you very much.

What kind of people dislike these nice videos.
The people who want to see a doctor in this video, instead of a nurse... Seriously...? Nurse... cardiology master stethoscope ? Come on guys.
Hi Virginia! We love this video and would love to use your Littmann testimonial on our social channels.
Please let me know the best way to contact you and I will reach out with a testimonial release form.
Thank you!

Great comparison video "Easy A Nursing" sorry couldn't find your name anywhere. What's the best way to contact you Easy A Nursing?
Hey Nurse Jenny!
You can email me at easyanursing@gmail.com!
Looking forward to connecting! ☺️
@@nursevirginiairene I guess we know the next video that's coming...A review that claims the Bjorn stethoscope is better than both Littmans...😒
@@jasonmcgrotha8044 have you tried the Bjorn Hall Stethoscope?
@@christennant2049 No, but this is Nurse Jenny's marketing strategy. On every video of a stethoscope review she'll ask how to contact and then shortly after they will have a review raving about the stethoscope (that they likely received for free). It apparently works, so brilliant move by her.
@@jasonmcgrotha8044 I see. Kudos to her for taking on the big brand Littmann. I’ll support the little company any day of the week as long as the products are good. Nurses got to stick together 👍
I have nursing friend who has just bought a Bjorn Hall Stethoscope. I’ll let you know 🤔 what she thinks once she’s tried it out.
If you had the money during nursing school, would you have gotten the cardiology instead of the classic?
Thanks for the question! I don’t think for nursing school the cardiology is 100% necessary. A Classic will do fine. It’s really when you get out on your own that it’s beneficial to have a solid stethoscope.
That being said, if you only want to purchase one stethoscope, I’d recommend the Cardiology. 😊
@@nursevirginiairene alright, thank you! I think I’ll buy the classic one for school and reward myself after graduation with a cardiology one to keep me motivated 😄
i think ill invest on 4 even if im new grad so that i don't have to buy another one if i buy 3 in the fist time ehhehe, thank you
I have both...and tbh other than the less rubbing sounds... They both sounds more or less the same when auscultating.. Don't waste your money on a cardiology IV.. Its not worth the extra money...
It depends on what you use the cardiology stethoscope for.
I doubt they have less rubbing than a single lumen tube. Possibly less rubbing than the original "dual" tubed sprague (which also work fine).
Agreed. Don’t waste your money one a Cardiology IV. Buy an Eko Core if you want to increase your ability to hear things. It attaches to any stethoscope. Although, some would say if you can’t hear it with a Classic III, then it’s clinically insignificant and won’t make a difference in your treatment modality.
Good video. One suggestion, ditch the background music. It doesn't add anything, just makes it more difficult to hear you speak.
❤❤❤
Challenging =paramedics in the back of the unit 🤦♂️
hi, nice demo. I don't want to be harsh , but you were occupying the 95 % of vh( view height of the monitor).
2:22 ...
Ahh
You are so cute ❤️
I just want a dang stethoscope that has a smooth and shiny tubing not a rough one
The new satin litmanns just dropped thinking of upgrading to cardio IV in the new tubing
