- Check out Michael Hampton's blazing solo as he goes almost note for note with the original studio track. Also features P-Funk notables Eddie Hazel, Dennis Chambers, Skeet, and Garry.
Micheal Hampton is one of the most underrated guitarist ever! He killed that solo!
gonna search him up
@@ishdontstop_ Please do you won't regret it
II thank God for the archives and RUclips for these memories! Live bands are far, few and in between! Long live P-FUNK!❤
I'm Sorry but this is the funkiest band on the planet!!!Hey ya'll let's give "Sir Dennis Chambers" some LOVE & RESPECT!!!THE BADDEST DRUMMER on MOTHER EARTH!!!
This band was very special
Now this is the kind of live performance I was trying to find for this song.
Dennis Chambers PLAYED THE HELL out them drums.
Yes sir
I'm a guitar player, and that's honestly what I was thinking the entire time.
Like damnnnnn
This is what I'm talkin about. There are alot of knee deep video's bt most of them don't have the guitar solo in them. This right here is the joint...
I'm a guitar player myself, and I think that Michael is incredible . . . but damn, what I could never get tired of is listening to this drummer lay down that groove. He's so in the pocket it's ridiculous.
I believe George was blessed to have Gary Shider and Glen Goins as singers in the Group If Glen had lived I feel he would have put his voice on more of P-Funk jams that they would have created!
♥️👍💯🌞♥️
Don't know I think Glen used pfunk as a stepping stone til.simething else cane along
Glen left over money issues if he lived he was gonna do the mutiny project with big foot and no telling what came after that
I always believed if Gary wasn't a part of pfunk he would have been one of the best blues soul singers he would have been something like al green, Tyrone Davis or Johnny Taylor, or Marvin sease or teddy
Rip to Glen and Gary George had the best singers and players in his band
@@chrisedwards3214Wasn't both Glen and Garry was with Bobby Womack first before ever joining Funkadelic? They definitely deserved a little more than the role they got practically carried it on their backs
It's been more than THIRTY YEARS Y'ALL! And still, I've yet to see anything as good as this. Thank GOD for Dennis and the entire P-funk crew. Sad to say it, but the party's over y'all. We will never, ever, never see anything like this again! This unit was beyond GREAT! Thank GOD for YOU-TUBE!! PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn!!! Those drums are so solid!!! Mr. Chambers is the man!!!! WOWWW!!!
WHO IS THIS DRUMMER?!?!?!?! OH MY GOD!!!
James Malik the one and only Dennis chambers🤘
Dennis Chambers. The baddest drummer ever! Who can do the drumsand play percussion at the same time?
Robocop
@@padavidsen no being sarcastic at all..but does Mr Chambers hold water compared to Neil peart?
BTA Music isn’t a competition. Just enjoy how fantastic it is.
That 5 minute 24 seconds of concert knocks out MOST performances of today!!! “Real music by Real musicians (alá Prince)!!!” Those moments and music were the Great Days!
One of the greatest, most underrated drummers of all time.
? Underrated. He’s been crowned the greatest of all time by zildjan. My picture of Dennis is that he rules the drum world like Stevie wonder rules the soul world.
I’m SO GRATEFUL to have witness this Greatness in my youth/20’s. These poor young ones of today will NEVER EVER…
This was so tight, one of the best I have heard live for Knee Deep
Dennis Chambers don't give a got damn, you all better keep up or don't bother showing up.
You got that right. Damn.
Dennis is playing the timbales on the side...if you never watched it live you'd think it was a percussionist playing timbales..."Krazy"
This particular song has some of the best guitar 🎸 play I ever heard
NOBODY Gives A Show Like GEORGE ! ...
Rodney 'Skeet' Curtis and Dennis Chambers-The Baltimore Duo that took the world by storm. That's the tightest P-funk rhythm section they had. And don't get me wrong, I love me some Tiki, Billy, and Tawl. But these dudes were off the chain.
the guy is wearing a diaper because. what do you call a full-grown man groovin in a diaper?...funky !
I think it's a reference to slaves actually
No he just did that for no reason he's man is diaper man 😑 that's why
Joseph Miller ain’t no diaper
Gary Shider from PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY, MARYLAND. MARYLAND'S CONTRIBUTION TO ' THE FUNK...! '
His voice is quite powerful and he’s wearing the diaper because he sang the sh!£ out of that song😉
Gary Shider lead vocals on this Classic! He and Phillipe Wynne tore this song up when it came out!
Man!! This fire.. Both Dennis Chambers ( Drums) and Mike Hampton were you young bucks.. Playing well beyond their years..
Dennis Chambers performing two functions...drummer and percussionist. You can't help but admire that.
i might be in this band today but this old p funk band was the shit.wow .thanks for all that funk.your biggest
fan gene anderson
Michael Hampton, Dennis Chambers, The Phenix Horns (EWF), Louis Johnson (Brothers Johnson Bass) would all be in my ultimate band seriously!
This is an instructional video brought to you by the good folks at Funkadelic on how to blow the damn roof off.
MICHAEL HAMPTON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You ain't never lied!!! I had a friend record it onto cassette from his CD!! And until I saw this, I thought that there was a percussionist playing as well. But no, IT'S JUST DENNIS KILLING IT!!!!!!
Y’all don’t hear that COGIC Howl That Gary Just Did🔥🔥🔥🔥
The drummer gets so into it for a relaxed groove, I love it
So many musicians in the pocket at the same time. Eargasm.
Can you imagin this lot walking into your pub for a swift half . Genius !
Ain’t nothing slacking on this performance percussion, guitar, bass, horns and vocals not even the theatrics whole thing was on POINT!
This clip is def from Germany. It's from their Rockpalast Special (Rockpalast is a German music show that has featured many great artists over the past few decades). They have been playing this special on my Digital Cable On Demand for the past month. I've watched it like 20 times cuz it's soo sick!!!!!
Michael Hampton's guitar solo 2 me is one of the best of all time in Funk music..
Kidd Funkadelic ROCKS!!! I remember having a nice chat with him last year in Brooklyn backstage after a P-Funk show, and he was super cool.
This was such a unique time in pfunk history that brought a very strong very heavy pretty much godly POCKET! The feel of that Pocket is just magical. That line up of musicians even Edie Hazel over there workin on gettin back in, to Skeet Gary hell yeah Shider I mean the list just goes on. DC on drums? Stop, recognize these cats doing this is some of the basest mugs in the Funk manuscript !
Michael " Kidd Funkadelic" Hampton s One of the Greatest Axe Wielding Monsters in the Modern World...just Listen...!
How can I say
Gggrrrrreaaate
Any better than JUMBO Y E S !!!!
😎twerk it gang
@funkedbyinjection Don't see why people want to continue to compare the two. Each brought something to the table to make the PFunk sound and experience. That is the beauty of the whole PFUNK sound. No two player of the same instrument were the same. Eddie and Mike are great for what they bring.
Kidd Funkadelic at his finest a Legend plays it note-for-note every time he never misses a Beat yeah, the Atomic Dog Mr George Clinton is a musical genius within his own right, he's so inspirational, I believe he inspires greatness in all of his musicians I noticed this trend over and over I wish I could meet him one day
the pure musicianship is KRAY!!!
Epic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet more evidence to suggest I should be at least 10 years older!
What an amazing performance!
i was honored to have sen them preform at the orphum in flagstaff, az in 2006... very well worth the price! love em!
They were as tight as I've ever heard them!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank U ! For posting this LOVE IT
@meljr The Drummer is Dennis Chambers...when I first heard this recording on disc I thought it was a separate percussionist also...amazing.
can I like this twice?! One of the best jams everrrr!
Skeet NEVER MISSES A BEAT!!!!
Funk All Day Long!!!! I Repeat Michael Hampton !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is amazing!!!!!
absolutely, he kicks it off so right.
Great to see Eddie Hazel play on knee deep live! I wish Micheal Hampton would have let Eddie Hazel play the Solo on 🎸🎸 🎸🎸knee deep that would have been Great as much as Mike has played maggot brain 🎸🎸 don't y'all think?
Michael was killing it, but was that eddie hazel tucked away in the shadows? Smh
Go back and listen with headphones, Eddie was vamping along with Michael just not as loud in the mix. 👍🏾
@@nodoor9132 definitely, but it seems like they didnt even bother to mic Eddie's amps. Idk why it bothers me so much that Eddie was in the shadows in the 80s. Ive seen a few shows from this era with the same issues. Eddie was a freaking legend who improvised the original Maggot Brain from the heart, with no writing at all. I love Mike, but Eddie shouldnt have been in the shadows when performing maggot brain. Though I admit, there may be other factors to this. Maybe he wanted to, or was ok with playing backup, letting Mike take the lead. Eddie also wasnt in the same shape as he was in the 70s. It also just bugs me how there's no soundboard recordings, live video, or even bootlegs of live shows with Eddie, especially the og lineup with Tiki on drums, Tawl, and Billy, other then Meadowbrook, which was recorded after Tiki left the band, and a few Sugar Shack recordings. Id give anything to see some footage with Tiki on drums.
@@BSIII I found the entire concert that this snippet was taken from and Eddie had his moment. He was just laid back. Maybe it was the era of P- Funk live at the Beverly theater when there was Michael, Eddie, Blackbird, Gary and Boogie all on guitars because Skeet was on bass. That's a lot of six stringers.
"The mothership landed" performing in my homeland!!♥️
Let's see...Skeet on bass, Chambers on drums, Hampton on guitar, Hazel on guitar, Shider on vocals = Badass like a ma-phucka!
Incredible band!! Powerful drumming!!! Wow!!!
BEST SONG EVER MADE!! 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾
HIGHLY SLEPT ON musically!!...The grown men in diapers and crazy outfits often overshadowed their musicianship!!
Solo is and always will be the best the best part of the song.
yes that is Dennis Chambers i met him he is a very nice cool guy.
awesome, grew up with this song
Dang!! I got goose bumps. This classic

I ADORE THIS SONG. LOVE U P-FUNK!!!
Damn I was in Germany at the time I missed this.
pooooooooooooosttt moreee!!!! ive been waiting for some old school dennis with p funk!!!
Michael Hampton, while KNEE DEEP into his solo @3:28 says “Fukk!”! He is reacting to his own playing!!!!! Incredible set! Dennis Chambers hitting them drums with dynamite 🧨 sticks!!
Michael Hampton was doing the damn thang with that lead guitar.
3:00 That song came out in the 70's and it had a solo guitar....George was ahead of his time!!
...pocket presence....luv it
THE MOTHERFUNKIN MOTHERSHIP HAS LANDED!!!!!!
The Funk! you Save Maybe your Own! From Blewfoot.....
Dennis fckn Chambers.
The original super funk masters! Real Talk!
Yep, you called it right, baby. That's my jam, "Rubber Duckie".
This is what I need to hear right about now. Although I am surprised the diaper look didn’t take off. I’m just saying...
reply to Domenic...If you are talking about the solo, no, that is Michael Hampton and Dennis Chambers on drums
The guy with the cowbell is getting it lol
I love Skeet & Chambers!
Not just knee deep. No doubt, funkiest jam of all time!!
Dennis Chambers and shit.....
Poor Eddie Hazel
Free music lessons...Funk is it's own reward.
Amazing! Dennis destroys!
FUNK YEAH!
@Dywanne73 YOU KNOW THAT'S RIGHT.....THANKS FOR THE POST
A superb, screaming performance by Hampton stciks pretty close to the studio version. He wasan enormous fretboard talent, although (sadly, deceased) Eddie Hazel was a gargantuan guitar great.
I'll have to follow you for that comment🔥🔥👊
Yeah after a while Mike was str8 blazzin all Eddie's signature tunes. No Diss to Ed but Mike was a true Talent that only got appreciated through true funkateers and music appreciators. SHine on Young Man
real live musicians WOW
Chambers killing it!
I was stationed in Germany for 4 years. The Germans are definately cool! Peace!
YEAH ! Wie das Publikum abgeht, GEIL !
Can we give the drummer some.Much 💕 Love to Jessica.
I remember when I thought George Clinton sang vocals on this!!!
I need to be there!
I cannot believe he put down that guitar like that. OUTRAGEOUS. And I can't believe Eddie Hazel cut put out that sound smoking. Twerk,
Jessica Cleaves and Skeet Curtis...two under recognised greats
Jessica my baby.
Str8 hit🔥🔥💯💯💯
