@@ngpainter yes, because a flying city, functional cyborgs, harnessing space/time is completely equal to color film and recording sound. Which they do throughout the game in the audio logs. 10/10 makes sense. You really rubbed together 2 brain cells for that one.
A lot of people say that Christianity is insulted through this. But in fact, it is quite the opposite. Comstock started out as a commercial preacher in a harmless line of popular churches, but ended up having people worship *him* instead of Christianity's primary subject, Jesus Christ. This contradicts a Christian form of being, and forms that of a Triangular Theism. (*"There shall be no god before me, for I am the only."*)
Rosalind has a message where she stated that there came a point where Comstock became unable to differentiate his ruse from his person. There are many pathological liars out there that lie so much that they then believe their own lies. I met a person like that once. It was awful. She constantly rewrote her own history.
Worth noting Comstock also fell rationalizations and justifications to hide what he was doing. He brought in and subjugated minorities because it was the only way to keep the city running efficiently without ruining the pr. Half of the sermons seem like he is trying to talk himself into these beliefs. Idk if that is accidental or saying that society justifies what it has to for it to succeed but its interesting
MysteryMachineX Is Lady Comstock also Mrs. DeWitt or are they two different people? Like is Lady Comstock actually Elizabeth's mother just from Booker's Dimension or is Elizabeth's mother just a completely different women.
I thought about this quite a bit. She could be. However, given Booker's different path in life depending on his choice, I don't think it is very likely that he married the same woman.
MysteryMachineX Ken Levine actually revealed on his twitter that Mrs. DeWitt is the same person as Lady Comstock, just from a different universe which is a bit of a tragic irony.
Finding all these diaries and piecing everything together must have been a momentous task. It’s really cool seeing everything in order. Great job everyone involved in this project.
I love the bioshock series but watching this made me realize how many plot lines/details slipped past me even after replaying the games. I loved watching this and having everything explained thoroughly. Great vid!
The only problem I can find with these explanations is it fails to mention every comstock universe is a Rosalind universe, meanwhile every dewitt universe is a Robert universe.

If this series ever got deleted I think I might cry. thank you for making this series!!!
The Comstock recording "The True Color of My Skin" is from when he was still Booker as a soldier (before Wounded Knee presumably). This HAS to be the time he's reminiscing on because no one in Columbia would question his skin color, sergeant or not. But as a soldier before Wounded Knee, someone questioning his "whiteness" would definitely be bad in his eyes (and for feasible), especially if he eventually accepts the baptism and becomes Comstock in THAT reality. That's probably why he fought so hard at Wounded Knee and, subsequently (& ironically) earned the nickname of "the White Injun." He would definitely want to prove his sergeant wrong by being merciless to the Native Americans they fought at W.K. earning that nickname, hopefully (and probably) dispelling any doubts about his skin color. But his anger towards that remark would definitely lead him to become Comstock. Whereas the Booker DeWitt we "know" was (supposedly) a little more moderate lol
I love how many developers are saying, "look we have a rich lore!", and then you see Bioshock and say "no you dont" hehehe I know that Bioshock is really inspirated by System shock series, it was often called rip off, but i think after a second game and Infinite, they did a really lot to finally have theyr own stable lore that is really theyr own and i really like this, i hope they will do more of Bioshock games, even i hate usually milking a one franchise, this is one of those which would have a great reason existing since the "multiverse" plot is so large that they could do even twenty games and still telling a new stories... Siddharth Nair Thank you for the kind words. :) - The Narrator
13:20 I don't think Rosalind opened a tear to send Robert over to acquire the baby from Booker, but he exists in the world where Booker is. This can be proved by the scene where they are dragging Anna into the tear, Robert is worried as if he never have walked through a tear.
By the way, amazing video! Everything is clearer now cuz I don't understand half a thing of those voxaphones without subtitles!
Beautiful Work this deserves a lot more views :)
Thank you for this video! I played them all including the dlc & I was still confused how it all came together. So now I understand. It is, IMO, one of the best series of games Thanks again 💜
Awesome video man :D I played all Bioshocks so far, but i hardly knew anything you are presenting... but that goes mainly because i found very few audioguides in the game :D I still don't like it more, but now i see how many thoughts had been made to create the story o.O :D
Nice vid bro this lore answered all my questions and doubts reguarding the game. Thanks:D
Wonderfully done. Thank you for this!
Only watched this one so far but already seeing connections I had not previously just from having everything organized so neatly. You must have had a heck of a spreadsheet to keep it all straight. I'm picturing one of those crazy walls with stuff tacked up everywhere and strings connecting things back and forth lol.
lol, not that extreme but yeah, I did have quite a spreadsheet. Over 500 audio diaries. It took me months to order them chronologically.
23:84 baby chimpanzee accept a wire replica for its mother is an actual experiment in psychology. It showed that the baby would go to the one that had faux fur and a feeding bottle, because it gave a sense of warmth and nurture, while the wire replica just felt uncomfortable to the touch.
This is amazing, thank you!
The best game EVARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Thanks you!
This is why the bio shock series is my favorite / it’s the best game I recommend buying the collection like I did so worth it
