Ohhhh yea. The Fortunate Son cover was the end of me watching. That is so fucking annoying. It just keeps coming back and you keep having to hear that slow whine. Just awful.
The game play footage was pretty terrible. For a video focusing on plot, I would have hoped for gameplay where the player made an effort to be in character as Booker, rather than look down every barrel for loot while the entire sky glows red.
The footage isn't that bad by the simple virtue of the fact that there wasn't some idiot screaming his lungs out over all the important bits. It's not perfect, and your points are valid. But at least most of the time the audio can actually be heard. SnoorkGaming specifically does non-commentary playthroughs, and that is what I was looking for.
Yeah i agree, it really broke the story side of this and reminded me its some jag off whos played it so he's just running around instead of looking kinda ruins the atmosphere
I would've recommended Cryaotic's play through. He's good at paying attention and remaining immersed while making sure not to speak over cutscenes or plot revealing audio such as voxophones. Little to no screaming as well. I always watch his playthroughs before any other RUclipsr's.
So, the first video on the series is narrated, this one is just game play, why is that, are the next ones narrated ? Also whats the chronological order of the games, are they parallel timelines?
@49:52 do you think the twins give them an arbitrary choice in order to create another parallel universe to travel in, just in case the Dewitt in this universe fails for some reason? You know, like an insurance policy. Otherwise its a useless choice in the game that makes no sense . I'd like to think its a sneaky way for them to have a contingency plan.
You could at least let the person finish with their dialog before moving on to the next part. You've completely skiped line on how she feels about the tear and how she can create them towards the end of the video.
It’s called will the circle be unbroken,, and it’s a more folkish/grassroots song. The version we hear when we arrive is beautiful, but it’s not as soulful as the grassroots version, which is commonly used in African American worship, so it’s just another example of the cultural appropriation that Columbia and fink are famous for, which I think is a really cool layer that I appreciate
I just want to say thank you for all the effort i was surprised when the next video kicked the initial scene of the game, it feels like an interactive movie. Thanks for that its a great experience. And for all the ones that sees this, be aware that there's a part one that feels like an introduction chapter so please check that one first
I have a question. why was there no evidence of degradation from the vigors? were the vigors not in circulation long enough or used enough to cause the same issues as they did in rapture?
Snoork (the gameplay provider) made the wrong choice with Slate in my opinion. If you kill Slate then and there, he gets a death he's satisfied with. If you spare Slate, you later find him in the police headquarters tortured into catatonia. A fate worse than death.
Dude, this is so nerdy and must take up a lot of work. I love it! Good stuff. How do you go about compiling the order of these narratives? Do you have some source materials like a script, do you just play the audio recordings in order or have you just constructed it yourself? Either way, I can only just imagine how much work you put in. It is appreciated. I'm only starting the 2nd part. I'll comment once I've watched the final clip of the explanation of BioShock. I just finished Infinite yesterday and may start my next single player game based on whether or not you have made a series like this to explain the story.
Thank you! But I don't have many of these, as they do take a lot of work. I first organize all source material in chronological order, like gameplay, audio diaries, etc. I then write out the script that explains everything that happened, making sure to put every detail. Simply ordering them chronologically was a huge undertaking, since only one of the BioShock games dated the audio diaries.
Judgement calls mostly. For example, the first thing I did was divide every audio diary into "Before Atlas" and "After Atlas", referring specifically to Fontaine's transformation and how it drastically affected all of Rapture. Then I just kept narrowing from there. Most characters have a sequence, so it was actually hardest for the characters that only had a single audio diary.
Before I spend an hour watching it, is this video completely gameplay? Or is there more explaining of what's going in interspersed throughout? And which of the series are just gameplay?
So this is probably going to sound a lot ruder then I'm intending it to, but this video killed the need or desire to watch more of this series. I'm sorry, but as someone who has never played BioShock, i found this video very hard to follow. I just found the first video in this series tonight as i made dinner, found it wonderfully enjoyable. I loved hearing the audio logs and the narration. It was beautifully put together by you awesome guys. But then i got about 20mins into this one and found it incredibly jarring. I watch a lot of gaming videos, I really enjoy them. But i came to this series in hopes of actually learning something and following a story I'd never fully understand otherwise.. Sadly it was a poorly cut together game play vid with no commentary what so ever, so it was almost impossible for me to follow as someone who has never played the game or has any knowledge of the backstory. I was hoping to maybe jump ahead to another video in the series and possibly catch up somehow, only to find a comment posted by the channel stating most would have game play. Not all, no, but the way this one was cut together makes me not wish to waste my time to find out. Truly sorry, absolutely loved the first one. I know this will sound much harsher and probably bitchier then I'm intending but so be it.
I swear half of this videos runtime is from those stupid fast forward things, they could have easily been shorted to literally being 3-second cuts. And sometimes they cut to a scene and then quickly cut back out, making it useless. If you're going to do something like this doing a full story thing, do the game play yourself and not use someone else's and then edit it to your own liking but using a terrible editing method. you could have done it so much better but this is nothing but wasted potential and given the first video that I just watched for an hour watching this is almost painful.
I just finished the trilogy, and decided to watch an explanation, because I was still confused about a lot. Its a different experience to play the game and watch everything in the order that things happened. It becomes a lot less confusing lol
No offence, but the gameplay in this video is not the best. I would have much preferred footage of someone who played it less like a game, and more as if they were really in the shoes of Booker. Also some commentary of someone who has played the game, and knows the story well could have provided some insight and connection to what was happening would have for nicely. the was just gameplay, and just that. Alas, I love the work you did with all the other parts besides gameplay, putting together the story and voxophones into something chronological. I feel this really helped people who didn't understand the timeline from Bioshock to Bioshock Infinity, and how the DLC connected it. Whereas people who have played the games 10 times over, such as myself, and understand it may find something they didn't know or just find entertainment in the who story overview. Now I haven't seen the whole series yet, but I'm going to assume it included the DLC and it's connection the the story. Thank you for these.
Agreed, really doesnt help when he activates the tower and instead of looking at the clouds going red and bellowing horns, instead just running around searching barrels
Lord. I feel like I did when I first stumbled upon ChillySunshine's and found the embarrassment of riches that is his massive collection of episodes of The CBS Radio Mystery Theater. Part of the charm of his uploads is the artwork he chooses for the thumbnail image of each episode.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE VIDEO, DON'T WATCH IT. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE GAMEPLAY, NARRATION RESUMES IN PART THREE OR FOUR OR WHATEVER. I'VE ENDURED YOUR PETTY REMARKS FOR YEARS. IT IS A VIDEO, ONE THAT DOES NOT COMPROMISE THE CHRONOLOGICAL STORYTELLING FOR YOUR SENSIBILITIES.
two parts of this had my laughing. 1) When Elizabeth is all "you'd be surprised what I know how to do ;)" and 2) *wraps rag around hand* there, that will fix that bloody hole, the muscle and any tissue damage I'm sure. They really missed out on not having Booker say something along the lines of "Gee, thanks Doc". Instead he just makes a fist, which would be damned near impossible if you just yanked a bowie knife out of your friggin' hand lol. Guess we can attribute this to him being savage AF as described via his war stories?
Thanks for clarifying many things but the video title made me think you were gonna cover all 3 games, did you at least make videos or will make videos for those 2 as well?
when i came to the portion of the game where Booker Dewitt had to choose either the Cage cameo or the Bird cameo for Elizabeth, i chose the Cage cameo. It seemed to me the more appropriate given the comment that Elizabeth made concerning the Cage. Did it make any difference in the manner in the which the game progressed for me? What would have changed had i chosen the Bird cameo?
I thought this was going to be like the first episode. Please don’t tell me the rest of these episodes are just gameplay....if I wanted to watch gameplay, I’d pop the disk in and play myself
All gameplay is cut. It is only dialogue. I said in the very beginning of the first video that this would be included. It is edited so that there's no fight scenes to sit through, no excessive walking in circles. Just characters talking to each other, events playing out, and story. That's the whole point. Just sit back and see the chronological story. There may even be parts you didn't realize were there.
A bit of constructive criticism. If you're going to do a video series like this which covers the lore of a game and shows the gameplay of said game, you should probably just cut to the least immersion breaking parts of gameplay. You should also cut to the most important story elements if the player won't play in character so as to keep the illusion of them being in character. Great vid series nonetheless.
Question! How can Slate talk about Booker at 'Wounded Knee' AND accuse Comstock of not being there fighting? I mean how does he know Booker AND Comstock, when they are the same individual but in different worlds? Or was Booker in Comstock's universe when Wounded Knee happened? Or can Slate travel between these said systems? I'm sorry, but I am confused... D: Thanks in advance for any help! I greatly appreciate this series by the way! It's really helpful and I understand the hard work that has gone into it!
Ohh no, I just figured it out! I'm sorry for the trouble! It's only after the baptism Bookers timeline splits into Comstock and Booker DeWitt so they've technically both been at 'Wounded Knee' which was before this 'rebirth' where Comstock took the baptism but Booker refused. This explains why Slate knows Booker and denies Comstock presence there! Ha! I'm not confused anymore! :D
Comstock and Booker both used to be the same person. They diverged, and there's two timelines, one for each of them. However, they share the same past up to the moment of baptism. Both Booker and Comstock were known as the White Injun of Wounded Knee. However, Comstock changed his name and identity and went on to lead another life. Slate knew Booker and what he had done. So when Comstock claimed to have fought there, Slate called him a liar. Ironically, Comstock was telling the truth. He was there. Slate just didn't know that Comstock was Booker. However, Comstock lied in pretty much every way in which the battle happened to make himself look glorious and holy, so you really can't blame Slate for calling him a liar. Thank you!
+MysteryMachineX Thank you so much for the super detailed reply! O: Even though I had already figured out the rough answer your text made it a lot clearer for me! Have a nice evening (or day/night, wherever you live)! :D
No, sorry. Not only do most of my sources not support that, it really isn't worth it. It'd also double the file size, and it's already at GBs, even compressed. : /
Whether you throw it at them or not, Fink identifies you as the False Shepherd. Later on, you will see the couple again, and if you were nice, they will give you some free gear.
I just got the he doesn't ROW, he DOESN'T row thing. It means it's not that he won't row it's that he's not supposed to. Then again I'm most likely wrong.
Kinda, but it's more like, they've experienced this a million times. They know in advanced that he doesn't row. It's like watching a movie of something where you've already seen the end. We're not saying that Booker refuses to row, just that it doesn't happen.
Get rid of those fast forward screens. Can't finish this video because of those stupid things every 5 seconds. This video would be significantly shorter too.
Oh yes, this video would be approximately 2 minutes and 35 seconds shorter, about 97% of the current length! I understand your criticism, but if you want to watch the full gameplay, hour-long fights and all, the link to that version is in the description.
+MysteryMachineX Eh, 2:35 is still 2:35. Plus, it would have been nice to have something stating that this particular video was made up entirely of gameplay video, frames of 'Fast forwarding, please wait' and someone butchering CCR's "Fortunate Son". Skipping to video 3, shows more of your actual explanation of the story, which is what I came for to begin with. **edit** Sorry, I don't normally comment on RUclips videos, so I didn't realize that simply typing 2:35 would link to the 2 Min, 35 sec mark of the video. What I was saying was: Two minutes and thirty five seconds is still two minutes and thirty five seconds. My apologies for any confusion.
I'm really not going to apologize for giving extra content. If it isn't your taste, if you don't want to see gameplay, that's not my problem. If there's parts that you don't care for, skip forward to the parts you do.
extra content? Its the same skip slide that is on the screen for waaaaay too long. if you want a indicator that you're fast forwarding just flash that screen for less then a second. It isn't that we want to see more game play it's just stupid how long you flash those slides.
This video would be approximately 2 minutes and 35 seconds shorter, about 97% of the current length! I understand your criticism, but if you want to watch the full gameplay, hour-long fights and all, the link to that version is in the description.
+Silly Gir Actually, remember from this time it would have been the Democrats who wanted life like this. Moderate Republicans wanted an end to slavery and the North and South to be reunited. Radical Republicans wanted equal rights for all races.
They're testing out different timelines to see which one will work. In previous ones where he didn't row, Booker probably survived longer. Meaning, to increase their chances of this Booker surviving, he doesn't row.
one thing I never got was the luteces hold on reality they come as they please but in some game moments why do they just come at random times seems like they aren't like Elizabeth on how she opens tears they can only be there for a couple of seconds then that's all
seriously? Am i the only one who drew down right before the airship? The jig was up, even booker said it, and it was definitely obvious what was being discussed by the guy on the phone.Or am I the only one that takes offcolor calls and uses alternative language?
Hey dude love your video and everything I really do it was an interesting story to the end complete story of BioShock makes everything clear and in theperspective of Bioshock it makes everything neat and tidy a clear-cut story but one thing I have to say is that annoying singing that goes through every fast forward.I swear it makes me want to go back and play BioShock infinite just to shoot that woman who's with scene when you went to the alternate dimension where Booker became a hero. That one woman was singing the same song that's in your fast forward parts.
Interesting the Lettuces became somewhat, Immortal. Tried righting there wrongs and using booker, from different timelines. Thousands of failures to eventually find that lucky One, One in a million. I mean they really did have all the time in the world to try again until it worked. Since? Really what other choice did they have
I thought this was going to be a series of video essays.. bummer after how amazing the first episode is.
why doesn't this video have any narration like the first one?
Agreed
That is a good question.
They said it will use gameplay to help tell the story. Anything that can't be explained via narration is done via gameplay
There is narration: it starts around 44:00
it was awesome seeing the first episode, reading everything in chronological order. what's the point of the game play?
+forkandspoonoperator ok. showing the dialogue.
I guess your deaths are the versions of you that failed
23:30 is the coolest thing. I get chills every time. Action movies should take note: That's how you use slow motion effectively.
the fast forward screens are really annoying and break up the narrative, i think it'd look better if you just jumpcut. Good series otherwise!
Mingye Chen they're a bit comical to me
the fast forward music was starting to piss me off...at least make it better music
Ohhhh yea. The Fortunate Son cover was the end of me watching. That is so fucking annoying. It just keeps coming back and you keep having to hear that slow whine. Just awful.
The game play footage was pretty terrible.

SilverSpade92 What did you expect? This is bioshock
Kevin Ocasio Its customary in a Bioshock game (even in character) to open every openable container, and eat, drink, and smoke everything lol
14 HOURS 14 FUCKING HOURS
Fuck it I'm bingeing
Did you? Worth it?
+FeaturedPixel I binged. It was worth it
Mysterious note: “Don’t pick 77.”
Booker: *Picks 77.*
Letuces: “Dammit Booker, you had ONE job!”
Lol, it implies that it was a universal constant that he would ignore their warning too. Not a single timeline had him avoiding that one.
Elizabeth !!! *keeps looking for ammo and coins around the map*
I'd like to think its a sneaky way for them to have a contingency plan.
lopassociate That's completely plausible. And if true, incredibly cool.
lopassociate i was thinking it symbolized being free (bird) and remaining caged but happy. but touche
You could at least let the person finish with their dialog before moving on to the next part. You've completely skiped line on how she feels about the tear and how she can create them towards the end of the video.

The song when you arrive to Columbia gets me emotional every time I hear it
It’s called will the circle be unbroken,, and it’s a more folkish/grassroots song.
Yes. I'll go with that.
No Injectibles. The Digested Vigors weren't as intrusive, so they didn't have the Cancerous Side effects of Splicing.
That comes from Burial at Sea, by the way. It's also revealed that Digestibles required WAY more Adam so they weren't a sustainable model.
I can't remember the exact reason why
MysteryMachineX question about vigors and plasmids what's the difference between the two which is more powerful plasmids or vigors
Snoork (the gameplay provider) made the wrong choice with Slate in my opinion. If you kill Slate then and there, he gets a death he's satisfied with.
If you spare Slate, you later find him in the police headquarters tortured into catatonia. A fate worse than death.
Fun fact: Vox Populi means voice of the people in latin i think
Dude, this is so nerdy and must take up a lot of work. I love it! Good stuff.

The "Prophet" Comstock went the same way as the most pathetic and dangerous of cult leaders:
He grew to believe the fairy tales he told.
yup. if god intended us to fly he would have built cloud city, lol.
The comstock in this universe is just a version of booker that was baptized of all sin
I love the flute (I think) Remix of 'Girls just want to have fun' at 1:13:40
is there a hidden easter egg with the drunk guy with sharp senses ?
When I first played I didn't realized that the "do not pick #77" 14:50 was about the ball 22:06
It may be a silly question, but does your analysis also include both BaS DLCs? Great videos so far : )
I see a chronological pattern:
First, Infinite (though in an alternate dimension)
Then 1
Then 2
Then Rapture
*F A S T F O W A R D I N G P L E A S E S T A N D B Y*
At 53:27 the undercover police officer call Elizabeth by her true name. How and why would she know that? I thought only Comstock and the Lutece's knew
her voxophone recording is at 43:54
20:04 this part makes so much sense now 😱, notice how there's no tails that has been thrown.
Oml that's so crazy tho because Comstock was at those battles like he's not lying 😂 Like AIDJDJAOAO SO CRAZYYY
1:11:31 a lot of the lines between Elizabeth and Booker I can't help but laugh about
why is this vid different then the first one?
U did a great job. I may need to Get this again

I thought this was going to be like the first episode. Please don’t tell me the rest of these episodes are just gameplay....if I wanted to watch gameplay, I’d pop the disk in and play myself
Why is this just gameplay?
All gameplay is cut. It is only dialogue. I said in the very beginning of the first video that this would be included.
It is edited so that there's no fight scenes to sit through, no excessive walking in circles. Just characters talking to each other, events playing out, and story. That's the whole point. Just sit back and see the chronological story. There may even be parts you didn't realize were there.
I have two questions are you going to add the docs in to the explanation. And can you do borderlands next.
I didn't plan on it, really. And I can't make any promises, sorry. : /
MysteryMachineX well doesn't the buried at sea dlc have a major part of the story line on how rapture turned out+
Yes, that DLC will be in the Rapture part of the story, which will come later.
one i don't aderstend why nos bleed when chomstock spek he kill Booket in the same time?
What a nosedive after the first video
A bit of constructive criticism. If you're going to do a video series like this which covers the lore of a game and shows the gameplay of said game, you should probably just cut to the least immersion breaking parts of gameplay. You should also cut to the most important story elements if the player won't play in character so as to keep the illusion of them being in character. Great vid series nonetheless.
Wtf was that sudden shift in audio 1:56
Thanks in advance for any help!
Thank you!
Oh whoops didn't see your second message. Glad you figured it out!
+MysteryMachineX
Thank you so much for the super detailed reply! O:
Even though I had already figured out the rough answer your text made it a lot clearer for me!
Have a nice evening (or day/night, wherever you live)! :D
just cuz ur an idiot doesn't mean you should shit up youtube with your idiotic questions. the answer btw is 'OF COURSE!?!?!'
Can u upload the next one in 60 fps? not a m ust have but whould be neat
No, sorry. Not only do most of my sources not support that, it really isn't worth it. It'd also double the file size, and it's already at GBs, even compressed. : /
ok
What happens when u throw the ball at the couple? I know I did this b4 but I can't seem to remember 😅
You get a piece of clothing form them at the duke and dimwit fair
Whether you throw it at them or not, Fink identifies you as the False Shepherd. Later on, you will see the couple again, and if you were nice, they will give you some free gear.
thnx ;)
i swear that i will watch until the end ( and it will take many hours ) so, i will go to sleep first -.-“
This is just bioshock cutscenes if you got copy right struck there is no way to defend it
I've never played the BioShock series. Is this the beginning of BioShock Infinite?
yes
can someone comment the minute or time there is a narration in this video
**edit**
Sorry, I don't normally comment on RUclips videos, so I didn't realize that simply typing 2:35 would link to the 2 Min, 35 sec mark of the video.
I assume the fast forward is to cut out irrelevant travel and fight scenes...well ya missed a few
Religion gone horribly wrong
jd bee And every Republican's dream... and a scary place for everyone else.
+Silly Gir Actually, remember from this time it would have been the Democrats who wanted life like this. Moderate Republicans wanted an end to slavery and the North and South to be reunited. Radical Republicans wanted equal rights for all races.
Patrick Hogan I didn't mean for then. I was pertaining to now. But thank you for history lesson I didn't need.
Silly Gir Anytime!
JohnTheGreat7822 Ok, fine. Let me rephrase my comment differently: This is the modern day TEA-PARTY's ideal world...
How's that? Better?
1:08:34 nice double tap instinct
Is this just a play through of the game?
in the beginning when she says "he DOESNT row" what do they mean?
+Dalton Six I presume they mean that since they know every timeline that he won't agree to help row no matter what they say
They mean that he's the passenger, and passengers don't row. Like how passengers on a car don't drive, it's your obligation.
They're testing out different timelines to see which one will work. In previous ones where he didn't row, Booker probably survived longer. Meaning, to increase their chances of this Booker surviving, he doesn't row.
Kremer. You guys are reading to deeply into this. It's simply that he is a passenger, so they don't expect him to row.
+Manman3872 The whole series is already incredibly deep. I give it the analysis is deserves.
one thing I never got was the luteces hold on reality they come as they please but in some game moments why do they just come at random times seems like they aren't like Elizabeth on how she opens tears they can only be there for a couple of seconds then that's all
not to sound like a jerk lol. awesome job so far
Anyone else seem confused by the similarities with Johnny Topside and Booker DeWitt
Would you kindly?
Interesting the Lettuces became somewhat, Immortal. Tried righting there wrongs and using booker, from different timelines. Thousands of failures to eventually find that lucky One, One in a million. I mean they really did have all the time in the world to try again until it worked. Since? Really what other
choice did they have
14:17 Simpsons bee nices reference
Doesn't Booker sound like Crane from Dying Light or is it just me?
I've never played that game, sadly. : /
I even think comstock sounds like donald sutherland lol
These fast forwards are grueling. Why no just cut straight to the next part? Those fast forwards are annoying.
This video could have been better if it wasn't fast forward so much.
TF
you're cutting out scenes and "fast-forwarding" through things. that's not cool.
I’m sorry dude .. I hate to say this .. but really? This is the most ... awesome thing I’ve ever seen anyone do
Happy face goes here
