I had a 1/4" 'bulge' in my Ditra from not properly squeezing w/ the grout float. It was a royal pain to come back and cut out an 8"x8" square. Took over 30 minutes w/ a chisel to get the thinset out. Double-check w/ a 4' level before this stuff sets up! VERY impressed w/ how well the Ditra 'sticks'! The felt does NOT easily come off from the plastic side or the floor; must be the felt providing the seperation layer for a minimal amount of movement in the subfloor.
Thank you as always Jeff. I just put down some vinyl waterproof tiles over the original tiles in my bathroom. Pain in the butt with these tongue in groove that don’t like to fit right, but it’s a nice alternative (38 sq ft for $63 in faux-marble tiles)
Having undertaken DIY myself for years AND years.................I still find your videos great. It's your great presentation / banter and admitting to myself - I can always learn something. Thanks 👍
Jeff...this video is urging me to start demolishing my bathroom today!! 😂.. no seriously!! I have been thinking of gutting down my washroom and get rid of the tub and start with a clean canvas. Thank You for your videos!
hi! love your channel. could you please make a video on how to blend paints? i need to blend them to get the color I want, I'm about to start painting my kitchen next month. thanks!
I plan on tiling some rooms on the first and second floors. Moisture is not an issue, and none of the rooms are bathrooms or kitchens. Can I just do the LevelQuik primer and self-leveler, and then cement the tiles to that?
Hey Jeff!!! I've been watching your videos for a while now and i think i'm ready to finish my basement. I have one question though. how level does your basement floor need to be in order to put down a stippled membrane and T&G plywood for the subfloor. I have a couple drains in the floor and was wondering if you had any tips.
I like vanities that go all the way to the floor because I don't want stuff getting underneath the vanity and then being hard to get it out. Since I live in the woods, snakes can get up under things.
Pro tip for keeping the flange clean: Wrap the outside with wide painter's tape and fold it over on the top. Using that kerdi board as a scrap for the floor leveler was quite the flex.
Love what you doing, you should wear a mask, I could hear rattling in your lungs. Those chemicals can damage your throat and lungs. You might need to go doctor to check your throat and lungs. Just saying!
Floor leveler question: My kitchen subfloor is slatted boards. I installed 3/4 inch plywood on top of the subfloor. The plan is to install vinyl plank flooring. What is a good way to seal the gaps in the plywood before pouring floor leveler, so that the leveler does not seep through?
I hope I work up the nerve to tile my bathroom someday. The people that "renovated" the home before I bought it slapped what feels like a peel-and-stick wood vinyl onto the bare wood floor and called it done. Suffice to say, I don't leave any stand water on the floor and keep that fan vent clean. This video makes me feel like tiling is something I could do, once I figure out how to get rid of that big honking fiberglass tub/shower
Why can't you pre-cut the tile, lay everything out (including clearance cutting), then remove the tile before working with thin set and final tile placement. This process takes longer to do but more beginner friendly.

Nice work, I live in lake county Florida also. Come do my tile for me
Haha great video
Great video, love your channel,GOD BLESS
Thank you! You too!
I said it before, you are a great instructor
Thanks for the video. Shouldn't you allow the thin-set mortar to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions (usually 24 hours) before tiling?
What is the purpose of using Ditra on a leveled bathroom floor?
It flexes a bit. Prevents tile from cracking. They call it a decoupling membrane.
thanks for the pearls of wisdom!
You're the man!

Yes

It’s going to look really nice when you are done.

You made a video on a DIY floating shed foundation. Would you be able to use just the foundation as a deck? im curious
Pro tip for keeping the flange clean:

Nice job 👏 🎉
I definitely need a flange extender for my basement bathroom. Flange is almost an inch below tile. Got a suggestion?
use the teflon rings and build it up. Cheers!
Thank you
Floor leveler can be applied on a raised wood floor and not just concrete slab?
I am confused, I watched your video about leveling coumpound and you said ditra said not to install ditra over self leveling. Am I missing something?
Thumbs up 'specially for the gangplank at the end ;)
what product was used to lay ditra, the same thinset to lay tiles ?
Are you going to be at Ottawa home show at EY center this month? If so, Which day?
ok very good - but why no seam cover and thinnest at Ditra butt joints?
Love what you doing, you should wear a mask, I could hear rattling in your lungs. Those chemicals can damage your throat and lungs. You might need to go doctor to check your throat and lungs. Just saying!
Hello, how do you do, sorry could you tell me what the stuff orange color did you put on the floor before the tiles? With pleasure from Russia.
I recommend upgrading the valves to a quarter turn valve.

use a can of spray foam. let it set up and then use a knife to trim it back. Cheers!
Can you supply schematics for your adaptable shower bridge?

Great video as usual. Notice an improper way to handle the mixer drill! 😢
"If you flood a modern toilet, consult a physician". Im dying 😂
Fun!
I thought Ditra couldn’t be used on top of floor leveler? Thought I heard that in the floor leveler video??
Who ended up telling him he has some glue in the mustache?
That’s how you keep your camera man in one place all the time

Says directional troweling while troweling in the wrong direction haha.
24:15 I keep saying it, they’re not buying it
What is zed???😮
How they say the letter Z in Canadia
The letter Z is based on the Greek "Zeta", the US is one of only a few native English speaking countries that shortens it to Z (zee) instead of Zed.
Really couldn't tell from the content?? Did you eat paint chips as a child?
Outside in the US, they call "Z" "Zed" instead of "Zee"
@@dank7290 It's a good question. He didn't ask what he meant. We all got that. He asked about the term. Golly. Breathe.
A plank? No ceiling mounted lift to hoist out the cameraman? A much more sensible but less dramatic solution.
You do everything backwards
after all those out of focus moments? should've just left him in there. haha just kidding!
