#2 in the first photo set is stunning! I see nothing messed up about that composition. #1 is my favorite of the second set; the color saturation is lovely. On #4, the focus on the knee is distracting for me. #2 is lovely of the third shot. The rainbow flare is rad on the by-the-cornfield shot. I think the second of the darker shots is better than the third, because there's more detail in the waist area of her clothing. That one wide shot is lovely; I agree that the dress makes it. I think I like the second shot the most of the last group, because her face silhouette looks so delicate and feminine. The silhouette is strong enough compositionally that it overpowers the perhaps awkward middle-of-frame placement. Of the last group of film shots, the "normal" portrait might be my favorite. I agree that the second to last shot, taken on the video camera, is just wonderful. I could take or leave the last, abstract shot, but it could be useful, perhaps. This was an incredibly inspiring video; thank you for making it.
One rule I've heard to keep sharp focus at minimum shutter speeds is keeping the shutter over the focal length of the lens you're using. For example, 1/50 (or more typically 1/60) with a 50mm lens. 1/125 for an 85mm. Harder to do the longer the focal length though But this can be used for the opposite effect though, 1/30 at 50mm to start seeing effects of motion blur
Great, great video! I feel most people associate a slower shutter speed with static shots, but it's such an interessing way to capture movement! I've been toying with it in a short film of mine, even though my camera doesn't record video with extremly slow shutter! Someone already mentioned, but Wong Kar Wai's usage of step printing is simply wonderful! I would also recommend Ashes (2012), a very warm short film by Apichatpong Weerasethakul shot with LomoKino! The slow shutter is so evocative that feels transcendental!
I've never tried using an ND filter on a film camera before - but that is actually a really great idea! I love how nostalgic motion blur makes an image feel.
I love the slow ss experimentation and how honest you are about getting or not getting the shots you want! This inspires me to try panning with slower ss too :) maybe figuring out how to work that in with an xpan? If you're ever in the US (specifically in the PNW), would love to do a photo adventure!
Lovely video Teo, the photos came out quite nicely. Brave of you to use film for shots that are highly unpredictable. I'm hoping to shoot some Wong Kar Wai inspired scenes while in Japan. Using 24fps with a slow shutter around 1/10 to get that sweet sweet blur in some videos.
Hellooo I hope you enjoyed the video and my little experiment with the slow shutter speeds :D Much love to URTH for working with me again, I'm a big fan of their products. You can check out their new filter set here: urth-partnership-program-creator.pxf.io/9g9rvW If you fancy any of their other products you can get 10% off with the code "TEO10". Also big thank you to @DailyVanea for shooting with me, it was really fun to collab and shoot together :) Have a great week!
Hey Teo, I really love the look of your behind the scenes cinematography for this shoot. Do you have a go to camera for this vibrant dreamy look? Does it have more to do with the color grading?
Thank you!☺️🫶🏼 It has purely to do with the colour grading - cameras are designed to provide you with a neutral look, so that you can then achieve your desired look in post🙌🏼 Fyi: this clips that I think you’re referring to were shot on a Sony A7iii✨
Aww thanks! Do you mean the voice over specifically? I record my voice overs with a simple Rode Video Micro and then do some work on it in post production to make it sound a bit better. If you're interested, I actually have a tutorial for that editing process on my Patreon (where I generally post more niche/in-depth educational content). Maybe that can help you out :) www.patreon.com/teocrawford
@@teocrawford yeah the voice over ! The quality is just perfect ! Yeah it should have something to do with the post production cause I have rode as well, but the end result is not as close as yours ! As much as I would love to but right now I am not financially in a position to do so, but you definitely deserve the best, good luck to you

Love your videos :) I was wondering if you tried the A7IV and if you have any feedback on it? :)
I think these photos came out really well. The photos at the beginning of the video I think would have been better on a little bit faster shutter speed as well but they still came out very cool. Also how many languages do you speak?
Thank you!🥹🙏🏼 If you go onto my channel you can find it in the playlist “short films” or just by a quick search on RUclips. The film is on Epidemic Sound’s RUclips channel🙌🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!☺️🙏🏼 I colour grade in Premiere Pro - been wanting to learn DaVinci but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Also I often use the Plugin Dehancer to enhance the grading🙌🏼
I can keep my hands decently still, so when photographing a scene that itself doesn’t include much movement (so no driving cars etc.) I can manage 1/30. But 1/60 is much safer. To be properly safe you might want to choose 1/125. However this is all from the perspective of a 35mm lens. When shooting with a longer lens this changes. A rule of thumb when shooting without any stabilisation is to shoot double your focal length. So with a 100mm lens you’ll be safer shooting at least 1/200🙌🏼
I’m pretty sure there are apps that you can use to manually set your phone to use a slow shutter speed - maybe you can find a tutorial or recommendation if you search for “slow shutter speed on mobile phone” or something like that on RUclips🙌🏼
I love this style of film because it feels like a distant memory. It's all a bit fuzzy and blurry but we still look at it as beautiful
Oh, I just realized I can use this as an artistic reason for my shaky shots 😅
I feel like the concept of “it’s not a bug, it’s a feature” was originally invented by artists thousands of years ago 😂
My tremors are an art form.
Guess you have inbuilt feature 🤣🤣

Thanks Teo for the video! huge fan of blurry photography here, it was such a pleasure to watch the whole process. Looking forward for the iteration!
I can’t explain how thrilled I am to see these photos teo
You have kind of put me in the mood to give this a try. Love the idea. Great video Teo 👍
absolutely love your videos!
Great video as always and this time you even got me motivated to try slow shutter more often !

Amazing photo shoot and experiments. Thank you for video.

Aww amazing, that’s so cool to hear, thank you!🙏🏼✨
Hello. Thank you for the video! Your colours look so good! What do you use to achieve this kind of look of your video?
Bro how many languages do you SPEAK????!!! i swear you just always seem to amaze me with every video.
Hahahah three hehe😂🙌🏼 I grew up here in Austria so I speak German like everyone else here :D
i think you should use the helios 44-2 lens for blurry shots. it gives a very distinctive blurry look to photos
Amazing!
Thank youuu!🙏🏼✨
Why do I want a blurry photograph? I don’t know, I just love them

Beautiful photographs, as usual. What's the app you're using at 16:15?
13:16 lol
What model is your tripod, going to finally invest in one soon.
love your work! for the ND filter how does it work on film camera? Because you cannot see how dark or bright the final shot will be?
Thank you!
Sehr minimalist. Es meint “light Meter” auf Englisch
Whats the settings on your cam man ,i sub alrdy good job
I like it, thanks for the video

i'm very like your font which is using in the video... can i get it????
anyone know that light meter app he is using?
It‘s called Lghtmtr👍🏼
what tripod do you use for your self portraits?
How to do this on nikon mirrorless camera? I have a Nikon z50 but it's shutter doesn't go below 1/25 for video.
mit was einem objektiv hast du fotografiert?
16:16 what's the app?
Lghtmtr🙌🏼
what app are you using for metering the light.
Lghtmtr
und dein englisch ist Mega perfekt. Kann es sein, dass du englische Wurzeln hast😂
wow how many language do you speak? nice video as always
threee - German, English and Japanese :)) Thank you!
Does someone know which app is this one he uses on his phone?
how do you do this for XS20 😢
low shutter
Same way you do it with any other camera
what about angle instead of shutter speed? using shutter speed for video is a disadvantage.
If you are trying to avoid motion blur, what’s the slowest shutter speed you’d use for handheld shooting?
I can keep my hands decently still, so when photographing a scene that itself doesn’t include much movement (so no driving cars etc.) I can manage 1/30. But 1/60 is much safer. What’s the brand of your bag?
The big bag is by Lowepro, the small one by Tarion🙌🏼
What the app he uses at 16:10 exactly do?
Lightmeter, it's looks at the light in the scene and tells you the appropriate shutter speed and aperture
@@endi3386 Thank you so much! have a nice day.
