Nice video mate, when your casting with an Alvey try holding the spool with your left hand and put your right hand up the rod towards the first runner, your cast will go further and it’s not as awkward, glad to see Alveys in use.
Hey Brett, thanks for the tip. I'll give it another shot when I'm on the beach. Cheers for watching! ☺️
That beauty of Alvey because it wonderful feeling and different 👍
They're great durable reels. Thanks for watching 👍
Miss my Alvey. Had it set up with 200 lb PowerPro dyneema braid line, and a 10 OZ teardrop tungsten weight. Used to do over 500’ casts (long distance casting practice) with a heavy action 14’ foot surf rod .
Loads of fun.
Used the Alvey for kite flying too
nice vid Jason. Well done. Good to see the alvey being used by the next gen as well.
Cheers Wayne, Yeah great bait reels, been using them since I was a young boy.
Gonna bring one to Texas ( alvey reel) gonna take on penns and such, keep fishing Jason cheers from s.texas crew.
Hey Chris, all my fishing setups are always listed in my video descriptions. I hope it helps you. Thanks for watching :)
Hey thx I hadn't seen the description keep up the good work boss
Been searching for a Penn side cast reel and nothing, love these reels.
They are a great surf reel. Thanks for watching 😊
Might need an alvey would recommend a 650
Fantastic handeling of your rod here buddy ;)
It comes from experience. Cheers for watching :)
awesome video mate. and nice catches off the beach
Thanks for watching! Keen to do more beach fishing soon :)
Refreshing to see what I grew up with being used awseome mate go alvey 👍
@@shanecooper945 Thanks for watching :)
love your videos bro, I learn so much from you
Hey Tommy, thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoy the videos :)
going to the same place tomorrow as we live opposite the bokarina beach!
Good luck mate, let us know if they are still firing! Cheers for watching :)
Nice Catch, and a great 3 gang Rig set up Mate 👌😎Tight lines...
Thanks mate, please check out my other beach fishing videos 😊
Hi Jason. Love the beach fishing and the Alvey work. If you don't mind where is the best place to park around bokarina to fish that stretch of beach.
Hey Grant, there is plenty of street parking along Oceanic Drive with beach access at the parks. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching :)
Need a low mount rod and swap your hands around to cast left and on spool and right hand up the rod, with those 2 things changed you will cast further and have more comfort with the rod and a better action
Thanks for the tip!
Just love the power of direct wind. Good work.
I love both versions for bait fishing. Thanks for watching ☺️
nice reel mate
Alvey make a bloody good reel for the surf 💯💯
Looks like Mudjimba beach looking up towards Coolum and down towards Maroochydore river. Or possibly on the awesome beach behind Kiwana waters looking toward Caloundra. Can't see " Old woman Island " in any footage of your video.
What line are you using?
… no hint of bait left when the catch comes in ???
Beautiful. Q; what do you think of the line guards vs no line guard for the Alvey? I grew up with ( late) dad always using alleys and he always never used the line guide. I’m gonna but old alvey for beach use and now thinking the line guard may help stop line going into handles.
Hey mate, that's a good question! I've never used a Alvey with a line guard so I can't say. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed 😊
so the tri stars are like the old knuckle busters no drag?
That bream🤯
Yeh good bream indeed! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 😊
Excelente. !!!!🤜🤛
Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed! 😊
@@ImJasonFish if fishing is the best therapy
Sure is, nothing beats it 💕
Nice vid jason... where do you reckon the best place to buy pillies near that area...most I buy are encrusted in ice!!!
Hey mate, I just buy pillies from BCF as I live close to one. However, I would recommend purchasing individually frozen pillies, rather than block frozen ones. This is because the frozen block ones are softer. Hope this helps, thanks for watching :)
Hi Jason! Great video- any recommendations to prevent Pilchards from getting too soft? Cheers!
Hey mate, thanks for coming back to watch. I would reccomend purchasing individually frozen pilchards. They'll turn soft after one session, so just buy enough for the one session. Cheers 👍
Nice
Thanks for watching Ryan :)
Great video and thanks but I gotta tell ya the music made my eyes and ears bleed. Please reconsider doing this in the future.
Stick to the spinning reels 😆😂 Just kidding.
Does a sinker between 2 swivels work better in the surf?
Haha thanks mate. It's all just a bit of fun, not claiming to be at all a pro. Yeah I think it helps with line twist in the surf. Give it a go! Thanks for watching 👍
Watch Jack Alvey on You Tube to cast correctly.
Thanks for the tip 👍
Awesome video mate, looking for my first Alvey reel. Would you recommend one like yours as a good first one? I'm guessing its similar to the surf champion 65 you can buy new now.
Thanks mate
Thanks Tony! Appreciate you watching a leaving a comment. Yes I would definitely recommend a Alvey for surf fishing! They are indestructible and you can get salt water and sand on it. The surf champion 65 is a direct wind version. There are drag versions similar to spinning reel setups if you like. Also the 65 is 6.5" in diameter. I would recommend browsing them in store to see if it is too large/heavy for you. Let me know how you go!
@@ImJasonFish thanks for the reply.
Will have a look and a feel instore.
Thanks for your tip and the great videos, keep em coming 👌👍
Bro, I have been fishing everywhere I can in the Northside of Brisbane including Hornibrook, Hays Inlet, Nudgee, Woody Point and Shorncliffe but after about 20 sessions and 70+ hours of fishing I only have a single legal bream to my name. I have probably only even seen about 3-4 legal fish caught by anyone during all this time. I'm trying to do as you and others advise on youtube and as locals tell me, but no luck at all. Can this really just be bad luck?
Hey mate, the past couple weeks and months have been super quiet for me on the water, hence the lack of videos haha. Keep persisting and you will hook up. Tight lines and thanks for watching :)
ImJasonFish ok good to know it’s not just me haha! What affect do you think this rain will have? I’m a beginner so never sure when I’m making a mistake in when/where I’m fishing or if it’s just bad luck.
When it rains it flushes the system, lots of fresh water. Sometimes its good fishing, sometimes not haha. Weather, tides and wind conditions, plays a part as well. Hope this helps :)
HI there mate. I like your hook rig. I am going to have a go here in NZ. I would encourage you not to throw the fish back like that. That fish would have been battered and daised and may have died, which defeats the purpose of you releasing it. Cheers.
Thanks for watching 👍
Can we use alvey reels on normal spinnimng rods +?
Yes, you sure can! But it's recommend to have a low mount rod. In this video I am not using a low mount rod. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 😊
What beach was this at?
Hey mate, any stretch of surf beach on the Sunshine Coast will work. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 😊
Good video just need better music
Hey mate, thanks for watching. What sort of songs do you recommend? Thanks :)
Music gave me cancer. Good vid otherwise
Thanks for the feedback 👍
Annoying as music.
Nice work, straight to the point. I notice you're not using a low mount rod, be interested to know how you find it compared to low mounts.
Any suggestions on a low mount rod? Thanks for watching ☺️
