You can technically DIY your own Slime Trackers! They're open source and if you are willing to use less accurate IMUs like the MPU6050 you can get some really, really cheap trackers!
Keep in mind, if you ever wanna upgrade later down the line, you can literally just swap out your old IMU for a better one and reprogram the tracker!

I find so much fascination in watching these videos you make on full body tracking IMUs, even though I don’t have any current plans on getting any. Your videos are just so informative and well versed, haha.
It never fails to amaze me how Furries and the ehm, *mature content enjoyers* keep pushing technology forward, from VR to AI it just keeps pushing this stuff forward and making it better.
They're both groups which put incredibly high value in the realism and immersiveness of VR, albeit for different reasons lmao. I certainly appreciate it, it means I get to be a smol otter bean and chill with friends :3
As a fellow full body user I usually always warn people about IMU's not being anywhere near as good as other tracking options but they are still worth it if you are willing to put in a bit more effort while calibrating. For reference I started my full body journey about 2 years ago now and I started with Vive 3.0 trackers and then swapped to Tundra trackers as I started to learn more about dancing. Love the video keep up the great work. And yes even though I have spent way more money then I needed to I will still say it was worth it to me.
Oh yeah I started on a quest 2 headset and now I use an index. Doing the figure 8 stuff for little over year I finally just said screw it and snagged an index.
Especially if the IMUs are low spec or the software is bad, always worth checking the specs if they are listed anywhere. I was able to make a decent IMU out of a low spec one, but it does quickly desync the position, since change in acceleration -> acceleration -> position, the amount of steps introduce alot of error. Part of why the software is expensive would also be the software side of things... there are just so many possibilities, ways to calibrate it, accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer get turned into rotation in position relative to the earth (and acceleration the device started with)

Hey I used quest 3 but I use virtual desktop to use Pc vr. Would tundra work with that? What do you think would be the best tracking for something like what I have?
@Koup6218 Since you're using a quest headset you'll still need base stations if you want to use tundras and open space calibration. For non base station tracking I'm not a good source of I'd look at thrillseeker's videos for reviews and see what works best for you.
I have these exact trackers and have used them for 3 months now. From my experience, the tracking is very smooth including the ankle rotation. I have to put the sensor close to the top of my feet to make it track easier. Some days, the trackers don't drift much, and some days the trackers drift a lot within a minute, especially the hip tracker for me but it's not a deal breaker because recalibrating is super easy. I never really loose connection with the trackers at all, but only when I sit down leaning forward and my belly is covering the hip tracker xD so no good if you have a dad bod lol! The trackers do shift a lot on my body and I wear certain clothing that doesn't make it move much. Thankfully, I never ran into the software issues you had to deal with about steam vr, I suppose I got lucky. Also not many people know this, but you can recalibrate while lying down straight and it's quite good. Great video!
So the ankle tracking is decent? It's my make-or-break for buying this.
If I remember correctly someone made a tool that lets you actually use these as slimevr trackers, might be something worth testing

And as a unofficial tester, I can tell you the app works great! I used it every weekend since the alphas were working well enough and zero real complaints.

just had a 17h + 5h VRChat session with one full charge
I got these trackers 2 months ago because of this video I can say they are really good trackers. I used the stand alone option they are really good for the price and the battery life is amazing I can go two days without charging them! if you play around with the trackers the start to look like the most popular trackers. I highly recommend them but minded this the cheats tracker does shift a little bit but it can be fixed with a quick two taps on the tracker. So overall I recommend it for stand alone users 😁

To start, the casual nature of this video was very nice. No frills or un-needed info, with lots of demo of the tracking. Spot on!
The issue with one tracker disconnecting (Especially while laying or sitting) is most likely the tracker thinking its not being used anymore and going to sleep. I have this same issue with my feet trackers on my goofy CV1 trackers. However mine just "freezes" in space, waiting for the connection. The reason yours go to a Default position is because for the estimation to work, it needs ALL trackers at all times to do its magic.
However, just like Meta and the Quest Pro controllers, I am sure a software update will come out that will make this work so much better. Especially with 20 hour run time, I don't think the trackers need to be going to sleep really at all. An option to turn battery saving on or off would be welcome! The simple "foot rotation" sensor was a great addition that other IMU based sets don't feature!

Self built slimevr trackers (build some community designs, not the official one) are still the meta for cheap and good tracking
I get basically every benefit of this (including the small size) with them and I got a total of 14 trackers + a lot of spare parts for just 160$

Got these a few days ago, so far I am really happy with the tracking, but it seems to have a mood of it's own, some days it works perfectly, on other days you get a lot more drift. But since you can quickly callibrate without leaving VRC it's fine even on a "bad" day

@@kentick3795 2 weeks and one full Furality later, I am already recomending these to my friends who don't have FBT yet. It makes VR so much more immersive, and with my skill level at dancing, even that is perfectly servicable. They do last a pretty long time on one charge and the drift does not get too annoying thanks to the easy recalibration. My favourite part is how quickly you can put them on and hop into VR
Follow up. I know it's been a while but I'm still looking into this myself. After all of this time are you still having a good experience with these?
Surprised you didn't mention that you can use it with SlimeVR as opposed to relying on HaritoraX Configurator
I got HaritoraX when it was 1.0, and I loved it.

@@Sparkle_png Yes, though I would absolutely get the dongle (as mentioned in the video) as well as possibly Standable (A different SteamVR application), to help with calibration. The calibration can get a little messed up and Standable does a good job of righting it back up. Also the Mode 1 is mostly the one you want to use, so if you have a lot of metal interference it might decrease quality.

@@Sparkle_png The GX6 is specifically for the 6 trackers included in the base Wireless set. The GX2 is specifically for the elbows so that's only if you get the elbows extension (Which I wouldn't recommend, elbows are just weird and require another layer to calibrate)

Yeah as someone with the wired HaritoraX I definitely understand your avoidance. That was a PAIN to set up.
That said wow, these both seem like they have better tracking and just, much more comfort than the wired version! Quite an improvement for sure.
The "if one fail, they all fail" aspect of it though, that seems wild. They're wireless, why would they behave like Christmas lights and all die when there's minor interference for one of them??? That seems ridiculous
Not sure if it’s confusing VRCHAT or an issue with the SteamVR emulation, but it would be nice if they at least faked staying still a little longer before.
May have to do that it is a very important component in the calculations and there is no redundancy so they can't compensate properly

You can build yourself a fbt slimevr set using bmi270's for really cheap. Current building a set of 10 trackers using a more expensive experimental chip (lsm6dsv) that I'm hoping will work well (out-preforms official slimevr tracker imu's with testing) for about $220.

I've had Haritora X Wireless for almost a year now and
1. The Steam crashing thing happens to me literally every time I use it and I ONLY have Haritora as an addon to steam VR
2. When one tracker goes out they all go out regardless of positioning, I've had trackers die and or just disconnect since my Bluetooth was poor and everything goes out as soon as one does
Oof, at least you can confirm these issues. Hopefully this video brings attention to them.

Never had any issues with it. They recently published a new beta version of the calibration software which does a better job. I honestly think people with IMU problems just have setups which dont work for them. I re-did the figure 8 calibration once because on my first go I did it at my PC which of course turned out to be a bad idea. I have been using these for what, a year now? Close to a year if not a year.

Quick tip if your tech savy enough you could just use your phone camera or pc webcam on pc for fbt but the quality depents pretty hard on how good your camera is
honestly if u have the quest 3 you could probobly get away with waiting for the lower body tracking to come out if it hasnt already and then pair it with camera tracking for hopefully better feadback

Any new stuff always has bugs and kinks to work out in the design.
For now, I’ll probably be sticking to Slime trackers once I can get them, but definitely be keeping my eye on these for the future.
Hmm... for me, I hve lots of regular trackers, but the issue is that they often go out of sight of the older V1 lighthouses I have, and upgrading to V2s would cost me a huge amount. I've always had the HatitoraX in mind (because the wired version means I can have as long as a battery life as I want), so I'm conflicted now, after this review, if I'm just better off upgrading my lighthouses or just getting the HaitoraX (wired or Wireless), or waiting for the fabled update you were talking about at the end.
Future FBT i forsee is 4 webcams, and ai tracking you only you. Still drifting in my SlimeVR here ^^ and still ppl I meet think Im using basestations. 12 slimes is the golden number I have discovered for good tracking (just need to make Yaw reset shortcut button on cotntroller) But I do wanna get rid of the drift so , waiting for something new. Thanks for sharing your exp with these Hari wireless ^^.
I have the wired version, or the 1.1 version. It works great majority of the time. Sometimes it randomly disconnects from bluetooth and I have to recalibrate but it happens so rarely it's not even an issue lol
HIya, long time Haritora X user (Wired/Wireless). For the Trackers going into different directions is due to placement from when you first tracked. its sorta weird but the only way for it correctly line back up, you would have to close steamvr and the haritora x app. Speaking of Apps I find tracking to be slightly better using the mobile app then on pc. since the OSC/IP network information goes directly into VRChat and not using a third party like steam. I haven't tried it yet but I wonder if you can use the Haritora X mobile app on pc.. Anywho, also interesting fact. You can also use Haritora trackers as slime trackers.

its easy to say just get tundra they track better for like everything but make sure you have basestations and a giant room for it or it will loose tracking

(Maybe including how it can benefit Vive/Tundra/Slime/Haritora/Axis/Kinect/etc tracking, though currently afaik it doesn't help slime and similar as much as it could but it's still being worked on)

I literally just got the slimes. Well I mean kind of. I got them a while ago but one tracker bricked itself shortly after using it for a little. I am being extremely careful not to overcharge them now.
Anyways, I dont got elbows and I didnt realize the quest 3 estimation actually estimates elbows, I should use that.

A thing I don’t like about them is if one single tracked dies like let’s say the chest tracker died then you can’t use it anymore for some reason like I can’t use just ankle and hip I have to use all 6

Slimetora lets you use these trackers as slime vr trackers, enabling you to use all of the slimevr juicy fixes and good stuff, + you can use them as elbow trackers if you build only two more slimevr trackers (also the haritora software sucks just use the slimetora with slimevr XD)

I think they should have stuck to the wired version, as that was unique among IMU-only FBT solutions.
so I managed to find the same trackers on eBay only for $137. I’m wondering if it is legit rather than spending $350. But nonetheless I think it’s a good deal.

Not that there was any SEVERE problems with them, but the disconnects and drift is getting on my nerves a bit after using them for over a year or so.
It’s not out yet, just a planned product on their website. Hopefully the software improvements go to helping the entire lineup

I just looked it up, and it does look promising! Though kind of unfortunate (for me) that the camera is separate from the trackers and not in the trackers like the Vive Ultimate Trackers. I don't really have a good spot to place the camera to spot me in my play area, I think.
However, I do hope that the "auto-fix" thing works very smoothly as they advertised it!

Hey, I was wondering, what you are thinking about the standable app on steam? Since it requires camera access to emulate the trackers and it doesn't have the restrictions meta has to scramble the input, do you think it is safe to use? Seems like a good cheap alternative to trackers for PCVR
