I got my SlimeVR trackers last week! And yes, there's a bit of a learning curve with getting them placed correctly on your body and getting the calibration done. Nice. I am gonna make my own diy slimes, and reviews are helping me decide how many trackers i want, and is helping motivate me to buy the parts. Currently using 5 phones, and a samsung watch, and its very accurate for what it is.
Don’t do extensions. Unless you wanna replace wires , since they will most likely break. I used three different wires u til I settled with no extensions. 12 main trackers. 😅
I came from phones as well! Definitely recommend building a pcb set with BNO if you can afford them, sooo much easier to build and more reliable. Ive used shitty wires so I've had 2-3 failures over the last 1,500hrs. Just built a new pcb BNO set and moving to nicer wire with strain relief to help protect the connections as I prefer a tiny little imu on my hip and feet over a full tracker even if I have to occasionally fix it ^^
I suspect that as IMU's work forward they might actually replace light houses entirely, if only because of how much of a problem occlusion is, but also because of the significant quality increase over time. Slime VR also has such a wind at its back in the form of a community polishing it with a passion that there is an edge to its development that most competitors can't match.

One small QOL thing to do is setting YawReset(Fast reset) and Reset (full reset) to a button key i have mine on the Y button and all you need to do is press it to reset the drift so much easier than double tapping the tracker
The drift is due to cheap parts. Specifically BNI IMUs. The BNI IMU costs $1 per IMU, but BNO costs $10 a piece. The cheaper Slime Trackers all have BNIs and they will always drift. BNOs do not or at least should not drift.

I do love SlimeVR and strongly recommend it. But if your wifi isn't stellar (although mine is) do not that you may struggle to run them
the extension cables are such a pain to deal with. ive made my own trackers, and even then. the thing that's holding them in place is the solder ― the lead. that's why you almost like need to make an anchor point on the silicone insulation of the wire, and attach that to the tracker case. like stitching them together ― otherwise the tension sits on the solder connection.
I got my slimes a few weeks ago, and went with the full-body 7+3 kit. Very glad I did, though 2 of the core slime units BLOD'd, so I'm only using 5+3 for now while I wait for warranty to contact me about sending me 2 new ones. Calibration is something you kinda work towards, but it'll never be 100% perfect, and yeah, drift happens over time, but resetting it isn't difficult, and I only need to do it if I feel off. Hello Tahvo! I've asked around for a solution to a problem I have, but not even the Reddit community can help. I was wondering if you know a way to do a thing similar to play space dragging, except for orientation, including up and down? Also I love ur vids they're very funny and informative, plus you're the reason I'm getting FBT and looking into Resonite :)
I've found the slimes to be hit or miss. Mainly in that, even if you do get production ones, they still have a litany of little issues that take a lot of time and configuration to solve. They work, but you get what you pay for. There's kind of a reason the lighthouse solution is so expensive. You put them on, calibrate, and then you're set. Same can not be said if you use slimes. I will say though, the 16 trackers for $560 feels like a rip off when you can make the same thing for less than $200 yourself.
would just like to say if you do have a headset with lighthouses these are not worth it just buy the vive ones they a few extra dollars for better more consistant tracking with no ''drifting''

Is it coming out in small batches over time? I am unsure and just want a little advice for a person who has done nothing with fbt and a slight limited time range of about 3 months.

Im not even into vr anymore
I want these still
would just like to say if you do have a headset with lighthouses these are not worth it just buy the vive ones they a few extra dollars for better more consistant tracking with no ''drifting''
TAHVO SUIT BEANS?
Also interesting that they're open source. So in technical sense they can be made by someone who specialized in 3d printing and programming (bypassing the nonsense customs tax)
do you need a PC or do they work standalone
the only problem with slime vr is i have been waiting for about a year just to get mine, everytime it gets close to the sending date it moves up again so i have not been able to try or enjoy mine
I've been waiting for my smile trackers for over 6 months, and I am a little bit scared now because I'm a bit of a dum boy, I feel like it'll be quite confusing and I might run into a lot of issues
You’ll figure it out. Just give it time.
Ill soon get Slime VR
hopefull i get some soon
I dont have the things. But thank you for an entertaining and interesting video regardless tahvo
Well this is great timing I've been lookin into slime vr FBT and I'm not to sure on if there is a better option I would use this for vrc but I want to be under blankets so a light house set up won't work and with a small budget price range I was looking into the total of 6 trackers but I don't know how their whole process of products work is it Givin to big youtubers to test? Is it coming out in small batches over time? I am unsure and just want a little advice for a person who has done nothing with fbt and a slight limited time range of about 3 months.
I'm still waiting for my slime trackers TwT
Can you do a video on vive ultimate trackers? I’m really interested in how they work
1:50 Wait...is that LIghthouse clamp up side down🤔
Looks like, good eyes! :D
Is it possible to use this with quest's upper body tracking?
I still haven't recieved mine and I ordered it september 2 years ago. I'm starting to think I got scammed to be honest. I could've bought HTC 5 times over with how long I've been waiting... I don't even play vr that much anymore lol..
As silly it might sound, but i'll stick with basestations & vive trackers.
My slow internet is not ready for slimes.
How long does it take to ship
They still ain't publicly out
@@grayOoo oh
the crowdsupply site tells you when your order should ship. as of november 8th 2024 it says "orders placed now will ship dec 13, 2024"
I bought mine a bit ago and they should ship in may!
Don’t be surprised if it gets delayed to death
@@ploxthefurry yeah I figured
Now do a body proportions guide lol that's what everyone really wants rn
would you recommend getting just the lower body set of slime or the full body? as all i want is to move my legs and waist but i don't know which would look better in game please let me know thank you
5+1 is decent in my opinion, elbow trackers are kinda meh
i assume you have to hook them up to a computer for it to work
Which headset do you guys use for vr chat? Which is good for newbie?
The Quest 3 is a solid choice, great screen and lens' and it can run standalone VRC pretty well
As a VRChat RUclipsr, could you please consider on talking about the Loli Police Department? I think it kind of doesn't receive the attention of VRChat RUclipsrs that it deserves. For Information about the LPD, I could help you out, as I am a member of this amazing Group. Thanks in advance.
Heard about it once, but still don't exactly know, what it is
I am ready to buy it but they won deliver it till MAY and I'm moving COUNTRIES. Let me suffer in peace XD
I recently ordered a fullbody kit for when I get my new custom model ~ q(≧▽≦q)
