  • This episode I customise the Helene Jeans (Anna Allen Clothing) by up cycling scrap & thrifted denim jeans, patch working them together & adding some super cute quilted pockets & patches!
    I finally was able to perfect the fit of these jeans on this my FIFTH time making them. Watch along for customisation ideas or treat this video as a sew along if you’re also making these jeans.
    This pattern is so thorough & wonderfully made - I highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn how to make jeans or make your first pair of zippered pants with a fly! You can do it!!!

    This is so much fun! And they're so CUTE!!!! It's making me want to get started on my own patchwork dungarees! Currently I'm still working on the patchwork sweater. I ran out of the rainbow yarn and had to wait to find something that matched well, so I started working on blankets for my kiddos that I started a while back but never finished, because project ADHD is so real. As well as Master classes start soon!

    Hello, Carly! You did amazing patchy pants :-) ... when I make my patchwork pants, I prefer to copy my pattern, take it apart first, and cut out individual pieces ( I use a mix of fabrics) , then sew together my patchwork pieces into my pattern pieces ... it is usually big chaos, but I love it this way :-)

    Hey! I recognise those streets! Seeing as we're neighbours, have you tried The Nest Community at Everton Park? (They're moving at the end of the month, though.) It's a secondhand haberdashery and I buy everything from there including thread. Just a heads-up if you're not rich. lol.

    Are you using different needles on an industrial machine just like a domestic one? A denim needle? ( edit, I watched till the end and you mentioned needles) Did your machine come with different feet? Love your enthusiasm. :)

    • @fromcarlyb
      @fromcarlyb  9 месяцев назад

    21:06 - How did you size grade just the back?! I'm about to make my first pair and ive been tossing up on sizes between 0-4 with the 2 being my main size but my hips/seat pushing to the 4 and my waist pushing towards the 0. I was thinking of doing the 2 as my first and go from there.

      I just started cutting from one size on the centre back seam & evenly decreased the cut until it met up with the smaller size at the top of the waistband!

    I've seen a couple other folks mentioning that the Helene crotch seam isn't fitting how they like them. For you is it that there's just too much ease built in? I know Anna explained that it's for non-stretch denim and it's a more vintage fit, so I'm wondering if it's a design thing, or if it's a modern sensibilities thing

    • @fromcarlyb
      @fromcarlyb  9 месяцев назад +1

      I have seen this too! I think I just got my sizing wrong a few times. I'm pretty sure this one does have more ease built in in comparison to the Perspehone pants... so the crotch I didn't have to alter. But I would recommend doing a toile for Anna Allen clothing pants just to make sure you're happy before you make it out of an expensive material!!
