I am an experienced seamstress and enjoyed every minute of your tutorial. You are such a sweetie and giving out the best happy, creative energy on your channel!! 😊 gr8 Job!! 🎉
I’m a quilter and I accumulate a lot of scraps from my different projects. It’s overwhelming but after watching your video I’m actually excited to get done with my latest project and hopefully be able to make something coordinating like pillows or a table runner or even pajamas from any left over scraps!
You remind me of Hermione from Harry Potter. A magical sewing wizard ❤

when I am creating my patchwork pieces, I always set down my stitch length to 2 or less, and it prevents unraveling my stitches + it is so pleasing to watch your enthusiasm for patchwork, I love it to 🙂
I have been subscribed to your channel for a while now but I didn’t become obsessed with it until a couple of weeks ago. In terms of this video; however, I am super chuffed to see the Moosehead hat on your head! Moosehead Beer is made in my home province of New Brunswick, Canada! The brewery was founded in 1867 and Moosehead is one of Canada’s favourite and most iconic beers. Not sure how on earth you ended up with a Moosehead hat but I find it to be super cool indeed! 😍
Aw thanks for watching! Also that's so cool!!! No way!! Believe it or not, my fiancé's brother got them for us in an opp shop in like.... Switzerland I think!!! We love them!!
@ - amazing! I wonder how they ended up there? We often say, “it’s a small world” we live in but sometimes it really is! Also, congratulations on your engagement, I can’t wait to see what you come up with for your dress. 😊
Thank you for making this video, I’ve been sewing for a while but I’m not very good, I get scared of trying new things 🙈 I really don’t know why but I do! It’s nice how you show all the steps and don’t be too strict with how you do it all. My dream is to make something like that beautiful huge patchwork dress you made, I’ve never seen anything as gorgeous in my life! Maybe one day 😂
Thank you for this video! New-ish fan of your page and this is going to help me so much. My mom was an avid quilter and I inherited her sewing supplies so I’m keeping her legacy going by learning to make clothes and someday quilts, too. Learning to patchwork with your video reminds me of my mom putting together squares and triangles of fabric while watching tv to creat incredible masterpieces. I can’t wait to get started. Cheers from the USA!
What a happy coincidence, I was scrap piecing fabric all day today and you have managed to inspire me and even teach me new tricks 😀 Love your enthusiasm and passion ❤️
LOVEE the way you speak and how you made everything so fun and easy to understand i don't think ive ever subscribed to a channel this fast before lol also im definitely gonna do many patchwork projects now with all my scraps gurl tysm ♡︎

Yay a new video to watch on a cold morning taking my son to school on the bus 😊 looking forward to getting my sewing machine out and practicing using it, making patchwork ❤
Carly! Congrats of the sponsorship! 🎉 great news! I enjoy patchworking so much but sometimes struggling to keep everything even.. like sth sizes of squares etc. but after today I might just give my brain a break and do sth more crazy with my full freedom of sewing 🙏🏻 thanks for the reminder, the mess could be good too! Love from Poland❤
Thank you so much mate!! I appreciate it!! Oh absolutely - it can be so tricky! The free patchworking is wild and so fun!! Messy ain't always bad hehe! sending love
I've recently come across your channel, and now I'm gathering all my scraps together to start patchwork! Thank you for your excitement which has made me excited to try something new :)
i love patchworking 💕💕💕 i’m working on putting some offcuts from my job as a tailor together to make a pair of pants. loved this deep dive into how you put your fabrics together!!!!
You and Afrayed Upcycling inspired me to start patchworking a while ago and I am absolutely in love with the dresses and skirts I‘ve created so far! Thank you for being an inspiration! Keep going 🎉
Ah! I love this! I’m so inspired! Thank you ❤️ I appreciate that you mentioned not to worry about it too much, I feel like I always get too caught up on that
i haven't watched it but judging based on the title this is exactly the video i was needing!!! i love your videos and have been rewatching the old ones while waiting for uploads hehe
Oooo thank you for the inspiration ❤ I love your passion in your videos and can't wait to start my next own project 😊 I'd highly recommend checking out some blade roller and a cutting mat options - those make somehow the life soooo much easier! Lots of love ❤️
Love this little guide! I’ve made a couple things with patchwork before but didn’t know any of the terms. Will definitely be looking at a couple quilting books at the op shops. I’m working on finishing some ceramics this week to hopefully get in the community kiln tomorrow or Saturday 😊
This is so helpful!! I haven’t done much sewing my one of my summer projects is to make a skirt, I’d love to make a patchwork one. Do you find stuff like this washes well in a machine or do you usually hand wash?
Depends on the fabric you use. Silk/wool are to wash cold, otherwise Just machine wash normally. Most patchwork Fabric is cotton. Including vintage sheets from the thrift. Totally machine washable
Aw I'm so glad!! That's so exciting - you can do it! I almost always will handwash my patchwork pieces. I think they would hold up just fine in the wash, but I like to take extra care and time with them so they will last a long time!
hello can someone please explain the overlocking thing?🥺 my machine doesn't look like that.. can i just use a regular zig zag stitch? and is it possible to do just the top stitch without the zig zag stitch? thank u 🥺
An overlocker (or serger) is different from a normal sewing machine and is used for finishing raw edges. If you don’t have one then a zig zag stitch should work just fine. Technically you could leave the edges raw and topstitch, but I wouldn’t do that unless the fabric is one that doesn’t fray at all. Hope this helps 😊
Hi Carly 🦋🌸 This is so helpful! I learned a lot from your video and love all the different ways to patch-work that you covered! I think patch-worked pieces look so dang cool and interesting! Do you find that for patch-working of both small and much larger pieces that it doesn’t matter to have the fabric warp and weft be the same direction from piece to piece? Also are there certain times you find it good to topstitch? Or is that more just for aesthetics? Thank you, friend! 🩷
Thank you lovely human!!! I haven't struggled toooooo much with the fabric warp... but it's a good thing to be aware of when patchworking. I just keep an eye on it & play it by ear!! And the topstitching... usually just for aesthetics... but sometimes I just really want all the overlocked edges to face the right way.. so I topstitch for that reason!
Do you need to be concerned about the fabric bias being different? That has always been my question with patchwork clothes even though I loooove the look!
I try and make sure I'm not cutting on the bias! I give the fabric a good tug and see which way the grain most likely is... haha but yeah sometimes I break that rule too!! Whatever works ... works!!
Your joy is palpable - and I couldn’t imagine starting a better way to start my morning than watching you makes some colorful patchwork 😍

Crumb quilting is my favorite!!!!! Can you tell me the name of your scissors?
When doing a patchwork project do you still have to worry about the grain line even if they are scraps?

Do you have a P.O. box we could send destash pretty cottons for you?
Too much blabla. Showing is much better
