    I love my Evelo Omega Electric Bike! I have the rear rack with integrated battery to extend my riding time. Just got back into riding a bicycle last April. The folks at Evelo were very helpful in answering all my questions before making a purchase. About a month after having my Omega, Evelo called me to make sure I was totally satisfied with my bicycle and offered a few more tips to help me enjoy my Omega.
    Great review of an amazing ebike from a fantastic company.

    I'm about to buy mine, there's never been a better time as it is on sale, along with all their bikes, for $2,599. That's a huge discount from $3,999 list price!

      I pulled the trigger on the $2599 sale too. Happy with everything so far!

    I have one and your are right it is very quiet. But I think the Specialized Como with the Brose motor my be slightly quieter and a bit more refined. I prefer the upright position.

    I appreciate your reviews pointing out important factors both positive and negative. I'm looking for my first e-bike and I believe I would want to have a "throttle" in the event for some reason I am unable to actually "pedal" the bike. You did not mention if the Evolo Omega has a throttle as you did with the Priority Current. Perhaps you want to include the issue of throttle in all of your reviews. Also, I wonder about the value of shock absorbers - which models seem to have a better ride because of their suspension.

    • @EBikeCommuting
      @EBikeCommuting  Год назад

      Glad you’ve found my reviews helpful! I believe all of EVELO’s bikes have an optional throttle.
      Good point about the shock absorbers. I really do like bikes with suspension, but some are okay without. Will be sure to include in future reviews.

    great presentation, very helpful - thank you! Is the auto-shifter feature 'better' than the handlebar control for a standard CVT hub?

    • @EBikeCommuting
      @EBikeCommuting  9 месяцев назад

      It’s hard to say if it’s actually better since I’m so used to a manual shifter. It was really nice to just not have to think about shifting, but if you are really dialed in to shifting to the perfect gear, you may find that it is a little slow at getting to the right gear. Whereas when you are manually doing it, you can look ahead and see that an incline is coming, etc..

    I'm new to e-bike, living in PNW. Do you recommend these CVT time for new e-bike buyers? I'm looking to get two bikes (wife and me). Will you recommend this over the priority or Prodigy v2?

    • @EBikeCommuting
      @EBikeCommuting  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, I think the CVT hub is perfectly fine for first time e-bike buyers. And yes, I would recommend this over those other two assuming it fits in your budget

    Thank you for this review, I was bummed to hear you say that anyone above 6'2" would feel awkward on this bike. I don't mind an upright "dutch" seat style, but I am 6'6". It has been tough finding an electric bike well suited to my needs, do you have a recommendation?

    • @EBikeCommuting
      @EBikeCommuting  11 месяцев назад +2

      You could potentially look at adding a stem extension to get the handlebars higher. I think if you did that the positioning would feel comfortable.
      If you like the Omega I’d recommend reaching out to EVELO and asking what they’d recommend. Their team is super knowledgeable and responsive.

      @@EBikeCommuting Thanks for getting back, and after continuing my research I am still thinking the Omega is the bike for me. I saw another buyer post that the company hooked them up with a stem extension piece to help them out, so I'm hopeful we can find a good solution

      Nice! Well circle back and share your feedback if that’s the route you go. I don’t think you’ll be dissatisfied with the Omega. It’s an excellent e-bike!

    Hey I have a question hopefully someone can answer. I am looking at upgrading to a new bike and I love all the bikes that have integrated sleek batteries. But what happens when the battery dies and the company either no longer makes that model or worse they went out of business? I was looking at the trek allant but I love the priority current and this one you’re reviewing in this video. Can you restore an old battery and replace cells if you can’t buy a second one ?

    • @evelobikes
      @evelobikes Год назад +2

      If a manufacturer no longer stocks a battery there are 3rd party rebuild services that can load the existing battery case with new cells inside, effectively building a brand new battery in the original outer shell.

    Great job! "Sneaky fast" is a good way to describe the Omega. I have the Omega and the Current. I like 'em both in somewhat different respects, but there is little to nothing you say I take exception to. I never messed with the Enviolo app though, and I think your adjusted cadence setting of 75 is just north of the factory default. (If I were to adjust the cadence, I'd probably go in the same direction you did). I have not watched your Atlas review yet but I plan to.

    Looks like a cool bike... How does this compare to the Priority Current?

    • @EBikeCommuting
      @EBikeCommuting  Год назад

      This has a much more laid back, relaxed feel while riding, but it is similar in speed to the Current (maybe slightly slower). The build quality of EVELO seems better than Priority.
      I also rode the EVELO Atlas and that has a more similar frame design to the Current and I prefer the Atlas over the Current for a few reasons:
      -Better build quality
      -Has front suspension and bigger tires which give it a smoother ride
      -Better display
      -Optional throttle
      I'm about to start working on the Atlas video, hope to have it done in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I've got a post on our blog about the Atlas: ebikecommuting.com/evelo-atlas-e-bike-review-2023/
      Happy to answer any other questions. LMK

    The cadence should be controlled by the display. I'm not the demographic for this type of bike but, a lack of ability to change the cadence is a deal breaker for me. The ability to stand on a higher gear a spin a lower gear is needed on longer rides of 1+hr.

    • @evelobikes
      @evelobikes Год назад +1

      check 1:22 in the video - theres also the optional CO controller that allows you to adjust cadence right from the handlebar with no app needed.
