I was anxious to view your report after purchasing the Omega with the dual battery option this summer. I'm 68 years old and haven't ridden for many years so I was a tad apprehensive about the expense but super excited about this technology driven e-bike. What you didn't mention was the free delivery, free return policy that comes with a 21 day trial. You can ride for over 70 miles and return the Omega if you're not completely satisfied. As important is Evelo's customer service. Extremely helpful and willing to go the extra mile. For example, I was nervous about not having a front suspension fork and the representative threw in the Kinekt suspension stem which was perfect and raised the handlebars just enough for me at 6'4". I am totally sold on the CVT hub, Enviolo auto shifter and belt drive! It's a perfect e-bike with absolutely zero concerns or complaints!
How does it respond to bumps? Any kind of give? I drive a trail occasionally that can be somewhat rocky (not big rocks, but it feels pretty bumpy) & I'll have to go over tree roots that can be jarring. How would this handle those? TIA.
Hi Tony, I have both the suspension stem and seat. I am really happy with the suspension stem. It does a great job without adding additional weight. @@tonygiancoli9626
Nice review. Surprised to hear a battery distance go further than the mfg rating. Your one complaint about adjusting tha cadence only through the app... They have a wireless controller you can add onto the handlebars to address that which lets you change in increments of 1 RPM or larger jumps. Having that sounds like the best of both worlds to me. I am having a hard time finding any other brands using the Automatiq though.
Well done and very thorough. I'm considering this bike for an upgrade, The step-through frame, second battery option and AutomatIQ shifter are great features that I need.
Just received mine. Nice bike so far. It was easier for me to get up extreme hills nearby vs my prior bike with a Bosch Cargo line motor. The integration of pedal and battery assist is good but not as natural as the Bosche system. I ordered the suspension stem, which seems to do a good job, but still testing. It is a beautiful and well put together bike. The gates drive belt is nice and quiet. The one ding I give it is the zoom brakes. Especially for a heavier rider like me, they are a disappointment. The are spongy, noisy, take a lot of effort to fully engage, and take a while to slow you down. They do not inspire confidence like the shimano hydraulic disc (200mm front) of my previous bike (which also had carbon gates drive). Other than the brakes, the experience has been top notch.

There are some key aspects missing from this review format. Adding these would make your reviews more compelling: What is it like to ride? Is it fun to ride? How well does it handle, on a road and a not too bumpy trail? How does it handle bumps? What kind of rider and ride surfaces is it best suited for? Is it a good value? What is the competition? Are there other e-bikes available with similar features at this price point?
Loved the review, very thorough. Putting the bikes tested through consistent categories is very helpful, equivalent of a comparison to others. I am familiar with Evelo's quality. It pained me to watch the rider place his foot's arch on the pedal instead of the forefoot of his foot as is proper and more healthy for leg and hip.
WRONG. "Evelo offers this ebike in small medium and large size frames" according to this review @ 5:41. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this Omega is offered in only one size frame, not three.
Very thorough and helpful presentation - thank you! I'm struggling to understand the positives and negatives of this auto shifter, vs the handlebar control for the more basic Enviolo hub, as used on the Evelo Atlas...?
Pretty cool bike.. I think my only concern is that I am pretty sure that in Colorado where I live it is illegal to ride class 2 bikes on the bike path..
I noticed the bike is rated on it's website for riders up to 6'2". Did you have anyone taller than that give it a try? I'm 6'3", so not too far off, just wondering if it would be terribly uncomfortable. Thanks!
Is the motor used on the Evelo Omega a rebranded Bafang mid-drive? Or is it a more substantial unit from Bosch, Panasonic, Shimano, or another of the name brand mid-drive units?
Those whom have bslsnce issur, this has power?, unlocked it goes 28 + with no issue wieth every penny. No regrets ❤❤ Gazelle is crazy more expensive with onky 3 bikes, no peddle assist. Specialized is crazt higher. The return and the warranty is a 10 plus they emsil and pick up theirs phone. If broke they will send you a new bike.. Glad i bought one. You get what you paid for. Magicycle from China bikes Faiiled , so did the speed, threw me into the road. Something like this is like a car. 53 people have died lots hurt . Buy smart❤

Reasonable price for a mid-drive with automatic shifter and hydraulic brakes. But for now I'll stick with my 2020 model rear hub with manual shifter and swappable shark batteries.
@@ElectricBikeReport I purposely didn't mention the brand lest being accused of conflict of interest. It happens to be a RadMini, relatively easy to service with generic replacement parts. One of these days may upgrade to another bike with torque sensor. PS. Love your reviews!
That's way too rich for my blood($3,524) for only going 20 mph and achieving under 30 miles of range . Wouldn't even consider the cost of an extra battery after footing the full cost of the bike . Hell at that price I'd rather buy a used car.
It goes to 28 and a litter past it once unlocked. You but what you get. I bought a Magicycle, almost killed me with chins brakes. Threw me on the road. Nice bike
The fact that you didn't take any time to compare this bike to other bikes, for example the Priority Current, which has very similar features, makes it sound much more like a sponsored video. I feel like some objectivity is called for here.
It's a good suggestion and one we've considered taking, but it's a little harder than you might think. We've tested hundreds of bikes to this point. We could just as easily compare it to four more beyond the Current (which we haven't actually tested yet anyway) so it becomes hard to know where you'd stop. We hope talking about the experience we've had on the bike in the review will suffice for most folks.
Seems like a nice bike but way too expensive. E-bike prices have been falling quickly and this bike is just way too expensive given competition. They will be out of business within a couple of years.
When you consider all the tech on the bike it doesn't really feel overpriced to us. Priced beyond what most will want to pay, maybe. There is a lot here that isn't commonly found and that usually means higher than average prices.
You prediction tea leaves have failed you. For the features listed here, this a far better than whats being offered by the compeition, especially the Gazelle Eclipse. A couple of the Omega models are actually sold out. Your extensive "market research" has done us a great disservice.

83 miles on PAS 1 at 15 mph!! Gonna have to try one out for a test ride.

This is not for off-roading. Its a pavement upright cruiser ebike

Valid point!
Ok wierd but nothing to do with the ebike itself and more to do with old man arthritis issues......

Evelo uses motors from Dapu, which is similar brand to Bafang in that they've been around a while and make a variety of e-bike components.
How does the automatic transmission respond if you pedal slower than the set cadence?
It downshifts identical to your automatic transmission car when you let off the gas pedal
If they came out with this in a class 3 I might consider it.
It can be unlocked for class 3
Its a class 3, 750W motor sucka. Time for your "consideration"
Very nice but not happy with limited speed of 20 mph. Should be at least 28 mph. Is there a way to unlock the speed?
Yes. It’s very simple to unlock through the display.
it unlocks the same way every other class 3 does
How do you lock this bike? It looks like it has a few disassembly points.
with a bike lock and then attach it to a stationary object like a bike rack
E-Vélo ?🤔 Or is Evelo another company ?

@@tonygiancoli9626 this isnt an offroad bike. Its a cruiser style for paved roads.

Needs front shock
We'd be pretty happy if Evelo found a way to offer that as an upgrade
irrelevant for pavement riding. just get a suspension seat post and its gtg
You gotta have suspension to be a "comfort" bike. JMO
Would be pretty happy to see it offered at least as an upgrade.
It is "literally" not out of this world.
Pretty sure he meant "figuratively" since no green aliens are mass producing these on Mars.

nice features but too expensive
The tech is pretty neat, but it is above entry level prices.
If you want "too expensive" you should check out the Specialized Como 5.0 ($5200) or the Gazelle Eclipse ($6000)
