There was a time Pyle offered top of the line competition level stuff, American made. Unfortunately whatever happened to the brand it's all garbage the last 20 years.
There are days where I think Garret is a tweeker and other days I think hes a genius. Today he is both lol. I would love to see this done to a high end speaker just to have a comparison.
Even high end car subs use a rubber magnet boot cover. It's not to make the magnet look bigger, but it's to help with impact resistance when mounting the driver into a box.
The Pyle Yellow Series car speakers are actually pretty decent for budget speakers. I had them installed in my 89 Pontiac 6000 and the mids and highs were very good. Not harsh sounding at all to my ears. The 6x9s had good thumping bass response too. I drove them with a 40 Watt x 4 Alpine VPower amp as the the Delco head unit itself didn't have the power to drive the speakers by itself. I later upgraded to Polk Audio speakers when I blew out my 4x6s. Made sure to enable high pass on the new 4x6s so I didn't blow them out again. Stay away from the Pyle Wave series, they were very harsh sounding on the mids and highs.
Hey Garret, The rubber surround on the magnet is a field insulator. Its to keep metal materials of the inside of the vehicle from affecting the magnetic field of the magnet. it also helps contain the mechanical energy generated by the coil if that makes sense. It also helps keep it from affecting other electronics as well. Also butyl FOAM does exist. so that is a rubber cone surround that's has been foamed. It is just another processing step. they also have polyethylene foam
BTW there's several RUclips channels where people blow speakers and stuff like you do but you're the only one I've subscribed to since yours seems the most fun to watch! The first video I ever saw on your channel was the original Logitech hate z-2300 speakers. I used to think they were cool until I got my nice set of Cerwin Vega vs120s and then I realized what real, better quality speakers are supposed to sound like.
I just got into home audio and have an old Kenwood surround with its original 100w per channel receiver. Is Kenwood any good? It sounds good but is almost 20 years old
My old school 1974 JBL L65 jubals have 2 12’s that are slim mount and have crazy ass bass the sounds that best for my chest to vibrate is around 45 to 10 hz and they sound great
11:15 I have a projector that has that exact no signal screen on the display in the background. Currently its sitting in it's original packaging taken apart so that I can order a new LCD panel for it. For anyone wondering, i unknowingly had it on a receptacle that was not grounded, then came a power surge, and pop goes the panel (it got a little too much juice. ) although, it does make a great light, lights up a room.. with blinding white light lol. model is a crenova YG600, which for a rip off of many other rip offs, is actually overall really nice quality. Speakers sound nice once you get the unit running for a few mins and its warmed up fully. I both do and dont reccomend buying it. If you're in a bind and need something temporary, this unit is really nice, although the front leg of course you need to be careful with.
You don’t know shit about speakers that rubber thing over it was a protection for the magnet and it does not matter about the magnet size it matters about the coil size that determines the wattage you fucking idiot
Who watched this and wondered "now why didn't that Pyle sub hold together longer than that?" Answer: NOBODY. Next round try 110vac at 60hz with sub in a box and some screws sitting on top of the cone. And wear safety glasses along with your gloves.
Hmmmmm. Wire a speaker to do what it wasn't meant to do and it blows. Hmmm. No break in time and no box, then add a bunch of power. Buttttt, this is a video about blowing the speaker so thumbs up. Put it in a box, add 300w and it would be good.
The funny thing is😂 when you revive some alright speakers that If I found I’d be like:OHHH BABY 300 WATTS!! Oh man it’s my lucky day; ya just blow them up because ya don’t need them😂😂
Be funny if he plugged it into the mains and there was a bang and the lights went out. An isolation transformer or a ballast is good when playing around with the mains supply.
you should try to get some small drivers and turn them into mexican jumping speakers with compasiters, you could probably make it remotely activated with a keychain remote or somthing, you remember those toys you sit on the table and punch them in then it reforms with a jump👍 ~90s toys man

You know Garret there is one speaker I would love to see you blow up, bose 901 series VI. One of my buddies has a pair that I refoamed and restored for him, but when I first met him he swore up and down that them speakers can take unlimited watts. Even after I explained to him and other people have to, that it's impossible for any speaker to handle unlimited watts. But yeah I would love to see you get a pair and blow all 18 drivers.
You sayed new subs has that smell when they turned to max wolume or what?after a while its gets worse or goes away?i ask because i had a similar problem
I could have got my hands on some Fisher vintage 15-inch 3-way speakers that was in a 30 yard trash bin from a hoarder clean out since I'm a roll off driver that I could have played around with decided not to that 15-inch woofer driver would have been fun though there was two of them!
I would not directly dare to say it the sub is crap,i guess the people that did buy it and left the review saying it is crap because it got blown up did fase out a coil. Try this with something like a quality Rockford fosgate,Sundown audio,FI/Ascendant Audio sub and the same thing happens. And looking at the ratings of 500 watts means 250 Watts a coil, than it did pretty well with 700 watts a coil.
I even knew a guy from San Diego California who made his own xlr cables and he had a 500 wat mixing board I think it was a yamaha or Peavy I'm not sure but anyways the speakers he had were 4 monitors and the bass was 2. 15s in on box and he had 2 boxes and man they were so loud that you could almost feel the vibration on the ground
that literally looks like a speaker you would see in a cheap pair of over the ear headphones or a cheap Radio alarm clock or a cheap kids toy that's a literally what it reminds me of because it has that shape and style
That Pyle speaker could not withstand the "Push-Pull" method from two 2Kw amps!Wonder how long that speaker would last if you fed 125Kw(into each coil) from two 250Kw transmitter modulators?????Stand by the OL resets! Was looking at the transmitter modulators as you spooked that speaker with your amps!Have you ever blown an amp doing these "tests"?
Once you overheat / heat up a voice / multiple voice coils once it overheats / heats up alot that is when the coils will burn and fail. Repair it if you want it to continue working
Even though this sub was a Pyle of junk, it handled the power pretty well.

Pyle used to and still occasionally does make some decent audio. What can you say, it's budget nowadays. Their RV washers aren't terrible though.
I think the reverse polarity is what put the first knife through the heart of that speaker.
