Thanks for the video, Rugged! Just pointing out that starting with 7.00, "The Wayward Scion" is the recommended gamestart for new players without any DLCs, to give them a bit more direction. /Greg

Thank you mightily for this. I am a brand new player and I don't mind saying I am completely confused and overwhelmed. The game started me in Timelines so now I know I probably shouldn't do that. Bu just understanding how to deal with the message that I "need to find so and so" had me utterly frustrated. I still don't know how to do that, but I'm just going to follow what you've shown here and take baby steps. What an amazingly thought out game. Unlike anything I've ever played so I'm excited, but very nervous.
Good guide, love these unscripted guides :) just a couple of pointers for others.
1. Trade filters -- you can specify MORE than 5 in the trade list, if you select the number 5 you can type in to show up to 25, which is long - I usually have it as top 10.
2. Signal Leaks -- it's easier to hear them if you turn the music down. Also make sure you're in Short scan mode (shift-2) as they are more visible, sparks etc.
3. There is no rush... do what you want to do when you want and take as long as you need, Yes some missions might have a timer on them.
4. Enjoy!

In the X community we call it the learning wall instead ;-) Have fun playing and you can always ask for help on the forums, discord, steam or wherever you find other players. This is one of the most helpful communities you will find even if some of us old players are a bit grumpy at times.
I agree, the game is excellent, I've personally loved the X series all the way back to the original one back in 97. It does have a very steep learning curve, but there is no rush, learn the different areas as and when you want... Best thing is to just enjoy it the way you want to.
The run key is very annoying, that’s why I just turn on permanent run in the menu
No way I just started the 6.0 tutorials. Bought the game on sale a few days and already played a little while. currently have 2 miners and 2 small cargo ships that make some passive income.

In all my years of playing these X games I've only played an Argon. With the new X4 Timelines I am trying a different path and trying a Terran path. Which 7.10 gamestart will have my Terran pilot meet Bosa and get the HQ?

Just picked it up on the Steam sale, and trying to wrap my head around it...poorly. Had no issue learning Eve, but got tired of getting fragged by gangs of 15-year old from Korea.
Eve is ruined by the devs secretly allowing botting by all the largest corps for the last 10 years
Welcome to a decent space sim. SP only so will only get fragged by NPC factions :) Enjoy!

No it still scans, but I do think it scans better / quicker with scan mode on, though can't say for sure -- the one good thing with scan mode on stations is the signal leaks, you can see then visually from further away than without the mode on.
This game is fucking complicated!

Do the ships that are unlocked through Timelines become available in the sandbox mode?
Yes. You can find them in the sandbox and then research their blueprints and build them yourself. But you can't buy them from other factions.

@@moonraven8394 that im not sure about yet, I'll have them myself soon. I believe you get blueprints but don't quote me
The Xenon ships don’t give you the blueprint research option, but I haven’t made a shipyard yet so don’t know if it just gives you those blueprints
