Great beginner intro/guide! I want to add that when looking for mission/commission signals on stations, the signal bars will appear below the ship's speed when you near one. I use that to find the signal.
Useful video, I just started playing yesterday and there’s a lot to learn. Minor correction - traders corner isn’t where you buy ships, it’s where you buy/sell personal items like spacesuit equipment, seminars, crafting items etc.
Even for a "seasoned" player like me (200h "only" so far tho) this kind of guide is always super useful. So many ways of doing the same thing, so many things that can be missed, it's always super nice to have this to remember all the basics and how to start well ! Thks a lot @TheRuggedGamer !!!
I really love games with emergent gameplay and that actually feels like you are a part of something bigger. The perfect game to play isolated from internet hahaha you have tons of things to do.. places to explore...mechanics to discover... the game opens up to you as you delve deep into it. Best buy of this year.
our telling me I can have a combat fleet and a capital ship im sold I will be the best pirate I can be lo. Saw this was on sale on steam and figured id check it out first this guide is pretty good and gave a good idea what I can and cant do thanks and keep up the good work.
Thank you very much for this guide. I'm brand new and exactly what you said is true. The tutorial left me more confused than when I started it and then did the same sandbox start you did here and did nothing but fly around and get lost in space for about three hours. The only thing I found was the H menu about 2.5 hours in and finally found something to actually do. That is a very very bad experience for new players... I would have thought that a game that is nearly 6 years old would have a better new player experience.
After a decade backing Star Citizen have become disenchanted with the vision for its direction set out this month (October 2024); time to give X4 some attention, so thanks for the guide!
If you have a controller (joystick or watever) i do recomend starting in the tutorials to adjust your keys and buttons the way you wanted. This game uses a lot of keys if you want to do things fast or you will have to be quick with your mouse (there is also the Pause key and you can give orders while paused).
X Rebirth VR Edition's Vulkan utilizing engine was used for X4. Unfortunately that XR VR was only interesting to make instead of being profitable, so there won't be another VR release.
I bought this game years ago but never got into it because it didn't have complete controller support. I take another look at it a few days ago and find out it does support controllers now, so I decide to give it a try. I go through the tutorials, which are still bugged btw, and when I finally get into the game proper... I have absolutely no idea what to do lol.
Do plan on making videos on how fleets work what equipment to use or what ships or good at doing what ect. as a new player I found there are a lot of ships
Great guide, but I'm a little unclear which to start with. I bought the Community of Planets edition so I have all the DLC. So, should I start with the Terran Cadet then, rather than the Young Cadet???
Is there a way to disable the double tap W to run..........there are 3, move forward, run forward and run. only move forward works. the other two dont do anything, Ive tried to input my own keys into them but they dont function in the game. only move forward works and constantly on this awful double tap to run. Any noticed this?
So idk why but I'm stuck before even playing. My main menu is a lot different than yours and I don't have all the options for different starts. In fact there's actually no new game option I have to play the basic tutorials and then it will ask me if I want to start a new game but then still it doesn't give me any of those options there's just one choice of yes. Is this in some sort of update, or is it some sort of DLC that I don't have I think the only ones I don't have are timelines and the one with the scrapping
I've played X3TC over the past 15 year, love the game; X4 seemed to be similar/familiar, going to miss out on the sale...sigh. The ''Elite'' doesn't look anything like the Elite in X3TC which looks alot better; Fav M4 class is the Buster, the speed of the Jaguar Raider is so fun though.
Love that i got the first mission of the terran cadet aborted by my superior cos when i received the stress signal from another ship i found the terran ship remains and proceeded to scan it. That was forbidden and they told me to return to base hahaha... i want to see what happens... intrigues me if the plot can be altered by your decisions or mistakes.
I wish I wouldn’t have paused it before he said “I wouldn’t recommend doing that before getting used to space flight” now I’m stuck in space looking at my ship and my guys miles away. I have no idea what I’m doing
Ya know, I understand there only being a certain amount of boost, but someone is going to need to explain to me why you automatically slow down after boost runs out. THAT'S the part that irks me
To bypass the long intro, skip to 4:00, and if you speak English, click the "CC" button to give you subtitles that will translate the channel owner's Not English into understandable English.
This was not helpful, all the controls can be found in the tutorials didnt need to see them again. and i still dont know what to do actually start to play like be a minner or pirate or anything.
@@brianshrimp5824 what you start as is totally upto you, and the following episodes help you. And the tutorials are improved since this video released.
The problem is the X4 is boring. I love Star Citizen way more... I know it has issues but I've had so much more fun in that game than almost any other.
This tutorial has the most long and boring introduction ever, no chapters to check.. hope you get the criticism rught. Sorry but can't be bothered to follow. Regards
Another guide? Amazing. Although I have hundreds of hours in the game, I still love your guides. Thank you.
Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for making these guides, using them for a 7.0 first playthrough

It is, apologies If I said that, I meant the personal items.
Just bought the GoG Community Collector package, diving in and overwhelmed, my kind of game. 🙂
With this game i dont need internet hahaha i brought it yesterday... i was playing till 5 in the morning... just amazing.

About to spend my day tomorrow starting out on this game. Thanks for the intro!
And many more days

very wholesome
I love go-getter gamers. I just bought the game too, I'm tired of EvE.
I wish we could be frens and build a mining guild together

Coming form ED, and when this game goes on sale i will be buying it and using your guides, or going in blind
Thanks for this excellent introduction ! It certainly simplifies things.
Already got about 200 hrs decided to start over to see alt starts love this game

Thanks for the guide. It was clear and helpful
Are you planning on streaming some X4 soon?
@@nqgames2954 I'm going to pick it up the next time it's on sale (I'm cheap)
We'll be streaming and doing all new series within the next couple of weeks.
Anything you're looking forward to seeing?
@@TheRuggedGamer Nothing in particular, just looking for more x4 content, not enough people making it!
Just want to leave a comment and say thanks!

This game would look great in VR!
X Rebirth VR Edition's Vulkan utilizing engine was used for X4. Unfortunately that XR VR was only interesting to make instead of being profitable, so there won't be another VR release.
Thanks for video...
the trailer for X4 7.0 brought me here. kinda ironic

Sure thing! Once they finalize the 7.0 release, we'll do an episode on different roles for ships.
The tutorials are the reason I'm hear lol
Awesome, bought the game 2 weeks ago and had a terrible experience. Wish I had seen these videos before!
Glad I could help!
Is it possible to bind the relevant controls to a gamepad?
I believe so, but don't quote me

@@timothyporr yes, however apparently the wayward scion is also a good new player start

I hadnt noticed but also havent tried to change it, ill have a look into jt
Bind W to "run forward" so it unbinds the "forward" command and you're set

Sorry to be painful, but how well does all of this work with SteamDeck?
I dont use a steamdeck, so I couldnt give you an honest answer to that.
I may have to get one in the future to get them answers lol

I wouldnt worry too much, the new update has reworked all of the boost and flight stuff

wtf man this was just a control video. the tutorials took us through all this. im trying to figure out what to DO IN THE GAME
jfc
Then the rest of the guide will help you :)
They have to fire their whole UI/UX design team.
It's 1 person. They are a less than 20 man indie studio. Yea it ain't great but functional for the depth you get in the gameplay

Star Citizen is a scam and charges people $10k real money for ships
All the time in the world?
Xemon invaders; are you sure about that?
It takes a very long time for them to take much over, and often the war balances out throughout, until you as the player affects the balance
