There was a bit of a problem with the roof at the Skydome (now Rogers Centre) in 1989, the first year it was open. There was rain in the Toronto area at the time, but they had difficulty getting the roof all the way closed, causing water to drip only into certain parts of the stadium, including the Oakland A's dugout.
I was watching the delay of a game between the Penguins and Rangers on Fox as it happened. The sight of Jags napping on the bench was the funniest sight.
Having been at the game on # 6, the fire alarm went off from a small kitchen fire i believe and everyone was supposed to evacuate the building. But we all got to sit back down finally and continue haha. It was confusing in that everyone was like "is this serious? wtf"
Speaking of delays, here's one that's maybe more like a postponement. In 1972, the Philadelphia Blazers of the WHA were getting ready for their opening game at Convention Hall. The zamboni was making its last rounds before the start of the game, when it ended up going through the ice.
I was present for a delay in Prudential Center(which at the time was only three or four years old) for a game between the Devils and the Lightning. Without warning, all the overflow lights in one half of the stadium went out. Despite being only a couple minute's drive away from a PSE&G station(if memory serves), they couldn't get it fixed. After I sat there for about an hour and forty minutes, they discontinued the game. To make up for it, the fans got tickets to another game and the make-up.
@sutishman About #6.. I heard a few years back that a kitchen fire (a microwave or something) had triggered the fire alarms in the building. Something like that anyway.
What was the reason for evacuation for number 6? I remember something similar when the Clippers against the Grizzlies. Everyone evacuated because of a broken water pipe. Too bad my Clippers lost after having a double digit lead before people had to leave FedEx Forum.
it was on December 23, 2005 against the St Louis Blues, not the Kings. I was there for the game. it was certainly....bizarre. We were all wandering out of the arena when all of a sudden we were ordered to go back to our seats. Apparently it was because of smoke in the concessions.
firefighters were called to the arena after a large amount of people were leaving the arena with extreme nausea and throwing up in front of the arena, and they confirmed an extremely high level of carbon monoxide and had to reschedule the game.
It just so happened there were none in this one. But, if you watch other Top 10 lists by TSN, you will see that they show a lot of football (by that I mean soccer) highlights from around europe. Top 10 Own Goals, Goals, Saves, Goaltending Blunders, Career Defining Mistakes (ahem Zidane)..... they all have them in there. And I am sure I am missing some.
Number 6 was a fire alarm. Something burned in one of the kitchens setting off the alarm. I was watching that game on TV and that is what the announcers said.
@Gxrocks123 it turns that smoke from one of the arenas kitchen's set of the alarm on December 20, 2005 P:S: Blues won 5 to 4 P:S:S: I didn't at first until I looked it up hoped this helped.
@TheHockeyman93 I saw that game on TV--- As a cubs fan personally, that one really freaked me out. I thought Wrigley Field was going to get damaged because it was an ACTUAL emergency.
@phillies4100 it was the coyotes are bankrupt and there shouldnt be hockey in PHX alarm. The arena couldnt handle it so it wanted to sound the alarm to send the team back to winnipeg.
It's like that in the USA, too; they don't care much for hockey and the NHL in general, unless their hardcore fans, and not sometime-ing, "I like the Rangers" fans, which there are a lot of in Canada. And, just as a question, how often do you see North American hockey or football highlights in Germany? If it's not that often, then it truly is location, location, location.

I love you TSN. Best top tens lists ever.

Huh I learned something new today
The Phoenix Coyotes used to have fans!
I was at the Coyotes game #6 apparently, there was a Carbon Monoxide Leak in the arena. People started throwing up while trying to exit the arena.
Gotta love #4. Love the sprinkler system in the Alamodome.
Having been at the game on # 6, the fire alarm went off from a small kitchen fire i believe and everyone was supposed to evacuate the building. But we all got to sit back down finally and continue haha. It was confusing in that everyone was like "is this serious? wtf"

Can someone explain to me why #10's a stadium delay?
Because it is .
I think it’s because he says before the top 10 starts that it is top 10 arena mishaps.
Dude, I saw that race... That was a tense moment for sure!
Now that's funny. Thanks so much for posting.
@IamAlastair
I like the implication that i like basketball. Its TSN, what else do you expect for them to show lol? Expos highlights from 1994?
haha love 1. All the players out helping. Nice to see. Then Jagr going for a nap lol funny stuff.

coyotes?
@@Cheeseburgerlocker 8 years ago
The coyotes were on here !!!!! Lets go coy-otes
i like the sportsmanship of #10 :)
@johnnycajxrt The Blues. If you look from 1:41 to 1:45 towards the left of the picture you can see the logo on the jerseys.
Does anyone know when that "alarm" incident happened in Glendale (the one between the LA Kings and Phoenix Coyotes)?
2006 Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway had to be delayed when right in the middle of the race it started snowing!
Or how about JPM's broken axle that sent him right into the jet dryer?
That one became Juan Pablo Montoya's version of Shadow the Hedgehog's Chaos Blast, except he was Shadow and the car provided the "CHAOS BLAST".
@theSWTORguys Ok what happened to cause that fire alarm?
In Phoenix, there was an ammonia leak and it was dangerous for the players' health.
I was at #9 very exciting. GO KINGS!
#4 - I didn't think "Free Shower Night" would take off!
OMG when #6 was happening there were people in the arena in PHX?! I had no clue the Coyotes had fans!
how about the lights going off @ the Boston Garden during the stanley cup finals vs. edmonton?
They now need to update this list to include the sprinklers going off during the Seahawks/Dolphins game that happened today.
#3 had one badass horn.
What about the lights going out in the play offs between bruins and rangers??
It just so happened there were none in this one. But, if you watch other Top 10 lists by TSN, you will see that they show a lot of football (by that I mean soccer) highlights from around europe. That Phoenix alarm is chilling
What was the situation at no. 6? Storm warning?
Why did the people get thrown out in #6? did they cause the alarm to go off?
Looks like, based on the jerseys and the announcer at the beginning referring to Glendale Arena (Phoenix):
St. Louis Blues @ Phoenix Coyotes
i remember going to the mets game with the sprinklers, pedro intentionally walked through the water
@eric829 there was fog. The lights didn't go off.
What set off the alarm in number 6?
#6 i haven't heard that alarm for a long time.
Number 6 was a fire alarm. Something burned in one of the kitchens setting off the alarm. I was watching that game on TV and that is what the announcers said.
What about the SuperSonics game that was called early due to a leaky roof?
1996 AFC Championship game belongs on this list.
@Gxrocks123 it turns that smoke from one of the arenas kitchen's set of the alarm on December 20, 2005
P:S: Blues won 5 to 4
P:S:S: I didn't at first until I looked it up
hoped this helped.
@phillies4100 from what i looked up there was fire or something in the kitchen of the stadium
why did the siren go off at #6??
Jagr doing something epic/funny as usual
Yes high levels of C.M. were found in the building, I was at this game
What was all about #6??
What about Minnesota's stadium roof collapsing?
i do, quite memorable
what about the smoke bomb at the flyers devils game?
can i get some background on that coyotes and blues game?
Does anyone have video of Seattle at number 3?
@TheHockeyman93 I saw that game on TV--- As a cubs fan personally, that one really freaked me out. I thought Wrigley Field was going to get damaged because it was an ACTUAL emergency.
what was the alarm for in #6?
how was the rockies red sox world series game not included?
the substitucion horn suck but the sprinkles going on in the middle of the game that was hilarious
@phillies4100
it was the coyotes are bankrupt and there shouldnt be hockey in PHX alarm. The arena couldnt handle it so it wanted to sound the alarm to send the team back to winnipeg.
@theSWTORguys how did that happen?
#2 first ever interesting moment in mlb history
recorded of course before the metrodome in minneapolis collapsed. pretty sure that would have taken the #1 spot!
HEY!!!! AT #6 IT WAS STEVIE POAPST!!!! I USED TO LOVE STEVIE POAPST! 1:44
#6 the officials were shocked that so many fans showed up he had to tell everyone to evacuate! lol
but seriously what happened with #6?
I wanna see more of #6.
face of the kid at 0:38 is priceless
i was surprised the 1990 finals werent there
@andrewiswatchingyou What exactly was going on?
wow 14min of horn must suck

What happend at Glendale Arena
@LocoJuggernaut Wrong! He's the Canadiens' mascot
LOL 4, 3, 2 are hilarious!!! :P
They missed the boxing match being interrupted by the parachuter landing in the ring
why were the people leavin at number 6??????
The bigger one was in the 1990 Stanley Cup between the Oilers and Bruins.
i had the sprinklers go off in one of my baseball games, too. its a little awkward
Good video!
There was a fire in the kitchen which set off the alarms for the whole arena
LOL! Did they atleast get to go back in and get the game going??
at number 6 why did the people have to leave the arena??
what the hell happened at 1:29 (Number 6 on top 10)?
Don't know, must've been something wrong with the fire alarm or something. It's funny because that alarm is the exact same at my school
Lol Jagr taking a nap during the #1 moment 😂
Boston Garden in the 1990 Stanley Cup Final??
i was at a UNC football game when half the lights went out.
RIP Youpi
I am seeing Superbowl XLVII dethroning a one of these entries.
@YTBYlover I think that prepared them for the wrath of the vuvuzelas.
Everybody must have been pissed in number 4.
remember when the center ice jumbotron fell in Buffalo?
how is the first one a delay............?
number 6 is the best lol the alarm
#3 is what I always fear at a basketball game
Sportscenter used to have some weird anchors
Shaq tearing down the entire basket should have been in there
If I would have been in that Spurs game, I woulda been PISSED.
And how the hell do you get trapped under a tarp?!!
Lol at the bills game i went against the chargers this year the power was out for like half an hour still played though
Where's the metro dome deflating Twins vs Angels . I was watching it
That didn’t delay the game it cancelled it.
Oh, you're right. Those ARE the Blues. My mistake.
