    Tip at Gatwick South, immediately after security, follow the signs for special assistance. It takes you down a corridor to the left of security and comes out on the upper level of departures bypassing the duty free which is downstairs. This is an open corridor that anyone can walk down.

    • @abinamikaze
      @abinamikaze 5 лет назад +20

      Same for North Terminal. Special assistance now has their own lounge for north terminal which is awesome, but there is a water refill and toilets right down that corridor for everyone to use as well.

    • @Happy_cookie
      @Happy_cookie 5 лет назад +4

      @@raoulfisher1867 No, it's just a corridor. I think there is a set of lifts and one of the lounges down the same corridor. It's only marked as special assistance because it avoids the escalators down into duty free and because it brings you out right in front of the special assistance desk/area in departures.

      Thank you for this tip. I am legally blind, 73 years old, and cussedly independent. Travel by myself a lot. Everywhere. And those passages in airports through the duty-free shops are a big nuisance to me. And when I am annoyed, as I am attempting to find my way through the shops to the gate. I am in no mood to stop and make a purchase. All I want to do is get the heck out of there. So, once again thank you.

    Thanks for the video! I took Level myself on 1cent flights twice and with normal tickets twice. I found the comfort (legroom is top priority for me) outstanding for a low cost carrier, they still stick to those seats you had which I usually dont see on LCC like Ryan, Easy or WIZZ. Only their newer A320 to take over the Vueling base in Amsterdam had the vueling which I didnt find so bad. Regarding service and reliability I was allways 100% satisfied... the design... well tbh I like it, though I understand it might make a boring impression (I like straight lines and right angles 🤣). And when it comes to food: I tried their new menu this weekend and their hot Lasagne as well as cold chicken sandwich was awesome. Price €10 "meal deal" with drink and snack. Staff were allways very helpful and outgoing as I would expect it from a "legacy" airline. My friends and family have similar opinion. However I am a Vienna based traveller Easyjet doesnt fly so much here so I rather have Lauda, Wizz and Eurowings to compare to. For me EW and Level are "semi low cost" as prices are mostly higher (€40-80) than Lauda and Wizz (€10-40) which I would describe as "ultra low cost"

    Thank you very much for the excellent trip report!
    For me as an Austrian (VIE based) I see the problem with Level, that even now, more than one year after start of operations, they fail to be recognized as an Austrian Airline, despite heavy marketing in Vienna.
    They run on an Austrian AOC ("real" Operator is Anisec, LEVEL is only the brand by IAG), cabin crew and pilots are mostly Austrian citizens, many of them coming from Flyniki.
    On their summer destinations, they also work together with Austrian tour operators, so for Package Holidays going e.g. to Greece, it might be that the travel agency offers you a package where the flights are by Austrian Airlines. Or they are by Eurowings. Or Laudamotion. Or LEVEL 😀
    But still, the average Traveller doesn't have a clue at all about them. They do know Laudamotion of course because of Niki Lauda and the troubles after AB Group bankruptcy, Austrian Airlines is the well known flagship, Eurowings is also rather common knowledge or can be explained very easy ("it's part of Lufthansa Group"), but nothing like that with LEVEL. It feels like there is no identity at all.

    Existence of Level makes the British Airways product even more infuriating. If IAG has so many low-cost carriers, why do they insist in BA becoming a confused legacy/budget carrier as well? It's not like BA flights are cheaper than low-cost anyway!

    Years ago when Southwest opened up their routes to the eastern half of the US, they had a promotion where if you bought one ticket you got another ticket to any destination free. I bought a round trip LAX to SFO for $59 and then got a free round trip ticket. I was heading back to the east coast so got a free ticket to Detroit (as far east as they flew at that time) and then took a bus the rest of the way. Had a nice weekend in San Francisco but that bus trip was pretty rough, about 12 hours.

    I'm just off a dirt-cheap Spirit flight from BWI back to AUS this morning. Flight was on-time, the A320 was clean, I slept the whole way. No complaints here, I knew what I was getting into. Appreciated them not doing the merchandise sales pitch like on Frontier and overall it was a much cleaner and friendlier experience all around than Allegiant.

    I always check Flightradar24 for the indound aircraft, helps to check for any delays. It works well with virgin Australia but Qantas what ever they do doesn’t load the assigned aircraft till the transponder is on for the flight. Great video as always!

    Great report as always Paul, few years back I took my Dad on a day trip to Duxford for his 60th birthday, as a retired aviation engineer he always wanted to visit here. I booked Ryanair Prestwick to Stansted months in advance at 1p per seat, but I guess you beat me as 1 cent is slightly less than 1p.

    VIE, unfortunately, has become a dumping ground for countless low-cost, short-haul airlines: LEVEL, Eurowings, Laudamotion, EasyJet, Wizz, to name but a few.
    What we need are more long-haul destinations and not 50 different flights to the same European destinations. We are a fairly sizeable city of 1.9 million people and yet we don't even have flights to Hong Kong, Singapore or Atlanta! There is NOT A SINGLE US carrier that operates flights to Vienna (couple of weeks ago Air Canada became the first North American one) and there are no direct flights to South America at all. Meanwhile, Switzerland, a country of about the same size, manages to provide exciting long-haul destinations from 2(!!) of their airports! What an embarrassment...

      I think it's because Austrian is pretty much the only intercontinental airline based out of Vienna, and since it's part of the Lufthansa group Lufthansa prefers major flight to north and south America, Africa, and Asia to be routed through them and swiss. My home airport of Washington-Dulles has an Austrian flight only because we're a United hub. A combination of demand and Lufthansa makes it difficult to operate major international flights to non-star alliance hubs.

    I took the Level long howl flight from Barcelona to Buenos Aires. The flight was actually a Iberia flight operates by Level. I can't complain because the aircraft was pretty new with enough leg room and on board entertainment. But there was one thing where I wasn't prepared for, there was literally no food included which I didn't know. Although, you could by sandwiches and snacks and you got free water.

    Best offer I got was a free flight with flybe (stobart air) southend to reus as part of a buy one get one free offer. Flew to cologne and back for 20 quid, took up the free return to reus. On the way back, plane broke down so they put us up in hotel, 3 course meal and then breakfast and then claimed the EU delays scheme and got 250 euro compensation. A real win, and a great lot of fun too ultimately.

    I did get a number of free flights in fact. For my 30th birthday, my brother (who does a bunch of flying for work) donated all his Lufthansa air miles to me. That allowed me to hop around Europe for a month or so for free. Lufthansa never subtracted those miles from my brother's account though, so that was a REALLY good deal.

    Hiya. Back in the day, before my life changed, I used to fly Ryanair for 1p all the time, especially to Ireland and back. It was usually a case of £9.99 in one direction and 1p in the other, so £10 return, basically. This was from Stansted, if I remember correctly. European destinations were often offered in this way, too. Those were the days. All the best to you.

    We also got the 1c flights and added another one for 25€ return. Theire logo looks like Word Art to me but overall I liked flying with them. For one return flight, we payed up for the front rows (row 2) seats and they provide you with more space than you need on those short haul flights. I also liked the USB sockets. That "Croque Monsieur" looked not too good, we on the other hand had the tapas and they actually tasted quite okay, some even really good. (Maybe the Ibera connection)
    Anyway, regarding the card machine, I do not wonder. We were lucky on our flights but I know those from the ÖBB. They like to break down from time to time.
    Interestingly, I found the crews to be one of the friendliest, especially for an LCC.
