I've always hated how Kelly Clarkson gets so little respect just because she was on American Idol. She is such an amazing singer, and she didn't have anything easy. She deserves everything she has.
Though she was professionally embarrassed, you could tell from the crowd there wasn't a person in that room that thought less of her breaking in that song.
That's her true story. She's always been very honest and outspoken about her father abandoning the family. Keith was crying because he was hearing this song about an amazing dad - Kelly's husband - and it reminded him of his dad whom he was very close with, because his dad had recently passed away.
I think Keith was crying just because he was touched by a very emotional song and he could feel her pain that she was singing. (By the way Keith and Nicole have two daughters already so they don't have any problems having children)
Sarah Dixon That’s fantastic! My Dad did the same over 67 years ago. I don’t believe I ever will forget that feeling. Like you, I met my Sweetie when I was 13 and he was 15. He followed me from foster home to foster home and always placed me at #1 in his life😍. We’ve been married for 54 years with a wonderful loving life together. When one door closes, another one opens. We both had miracles given to us! Best wishes to you and your husband.🤗
If that doesn't show you the importance of being a good father and how important a good father is to his kids I don't know what will. Be a great dad. Hug your kids often. Show them you love them
Not only is Kelly a brilliant song writer and is able to express so much emotion in her music, but her personality hasnt changed since day one. If you watch her show now she is 100% still that goofy ass girl who showed up at American Idol wearing blue jeans as a top.
I've seen this a daozen or so times, and I've cried every single time. Kelly wrote this about her father, and how he walked out on their family years ago.
This is a beautiful song. The line that gets me every time is "She will never have to wonder her worth because unlike you I'm gonna put her first." It really resonates with me as mother with a little girl that is my world.
My father was born into the Great Depression. He was never told that he was loved. He almost died when he fell out of the wagon and the wheel ran over his head when he was just over 13 mos. But he wasn't taken to the doctor because his family didn't have the $3 for the visit, was stung hundreds of times by fire ants while his mother picked peas, was severely burned when a log rolled out of the fire place onto his legs, was almost killed by an angry ram, almost died of whooping cough.... He thought that the only reason that his parents had kids was so that there were plenty of hands to help in the fields. Yet, this man never raised his voice to us, never lost his patience, never spanked us in anger ( he would go to his room and pray before he disciplined us) never let us forget that he loved us. That is a FATHER. He never with held love or discipline. I miss him. I love you, Daddy
That performance still makes me cry. I love Kelly Clarkson. I was lucky enough to see her in concert. She's so down to earth and entertaining and I love her music. ❤❤😢😢❤❤
Diane Beaudoin I got to see her in concert about 4 years ago, she is so good! She did forget the words to one of her songs though lol. But when she started singing Miss Independent everybody was going crazy.
I had a hard time reframing from getting emotional, especially while watching this American Idol version. Just the piano, her voice and her emotion is all that is needed
As a father I will never understand how people abandon their kids. Having a child is one of the biggest blessings in this world. I cry every time I watch this. Robyn and Chelsea, I hope the apple falls far from the tree with you like Kelly said.
Farmer G the apple did fall far from the tree with me. I was a single mother of two precious boys. If it wasn't for my mom helping at times I don't know what I would do. My boys father was chasing women while I was raising our boys. I am proud to say that I am a grandmother of two precious grandsons and another grandson on the way!
It's never easy. It's not meant to be, I don't think. I'm happy for you and glad that you stood up and did what you had to. I only ask that you try not to spoil your grandkids too much. It makes the parent's job that much harder.
That song kills me. I’m 50 years old now and my childhood came flooding back. I haven’t ever been able to share the details of what broke me the most, with anyone.
Lori Talk to someone you feel comfortable and can be vulnerable with. You will feel so much better. Free yourself from the burden. You don't realize how much those emotions are weighing you down. It can be a friend, relative, a pastor, or if necessary a professional. I'm 67 and am in a bad situation now and came to realize I can't do this on my own. If you want, I can be that person. Maybe we can help each other.
Great singers whether or not you like their style: Pink Kelly Clarkson Celine Dion Josh Groban Christina A Beyoncé Bette Middler Mariah Carey Barbara Streisand Lauryn Hill I know I am missing some, but they have raw beautiful talent.
I lose it every time I see this video. My biological father has never given a shit about me, no matter how hard I’ve tried to get him to, and this song hits me hard. Luckily my son has a good father who loves him, because I know what it feels like to not have that. My grandfather was the one who picked me up off the ground and became my “dad”. His death was the hardest thing I’ve ever had the go through. I respect Kelly so much for being able to put her heart out there like that. ❤️😃
stepfaniedaniels I was already crying watching this video but when I read your comment I really teared up because my pawpaw was my dad too and when he passed my heart felt like it was torn from my chest 😢 it's been 15 years since my pawpaw passed and I still miss him 😢
Michaele Milay I’m so very sorry for your loss. My biological father has only cared about himself as well. Luckily we had those who knew we needed them ❤️
My daughter had to be picked up by my father and luckily I met a man who loves her just as much as his own. I cry for my girl every time I hear this and I hug my man every time because I'm so grateful that he's such a wonderful father.
I loved the WAY you described it in detail of the emotion that she puts in!! You get lost in it!! You can see every word painted in your mind!! Breathe taking
I'm an empath, so I always feel everything 10 times stronger than most people would. My dad is still in my life and I can still connect on a personal level on every piece of music or literature or even just a stranger or friend talking. This song gets me every time no matter what.
As a father of a beautiful 3 year old, this song breaks my heart. Yet inspires me to always be there and not be a selfish man no matter what troubles come.
I can’t believe I just found your channel. I’m evaluating my subscriptions. You are now my whole RUclips. All the emotion you feel through others...you guys... I’m speechless.
I cry during this song. My dad was the one who stayed and did his best, he is far from perfect but he always did his best. The last time I had seen my mother was when I was 12, she died 8 years ago now when I was 18. I wasn't able to go to her funeral but my uncle sent a picture of her in the casket and she had aged so much I couldn't even recognize my own mother. Even though she chose to let us go, I know, it was for our own good. I know she loved us, while I was left with chronic depression and anxiety as a result I still forgave, love and miss her so much. That's why I cry.
It was fantastic to watch this with you guys. Makes me think about how being a mom and dad is no joke. We all need our dads. I wonder what it will take for more to realize the commitment and sacrifice. I agree with all your commentary. Thanks.
My daddy abandoned the family when I was five. Even when he left....shattering my world.....my love stood tall. I was criticized for loving him inspite of his betrayal. Needless to say, It is painful loving someone who is unable to offer reciprocity. This song breaks my heart.. I cry....tears of sorrow each time I hear Kelly sing this song. The tears of Keith and J-lo's face speak volumes concerning how rare and talented Kelly C is!!!!! Love is the only Sanity!
Omg the Kelly Rowland part just kills the vibe, I couldn’t stop laughing 10 days ago when I had seen this vdo n now that m watching it again it still just cracked me up so bad 😂😂😂😂 luv u guys for that 😂😂😂😂
I know this is old but I’m just seeing your video and I wanted to tell you both I just adore you! And Kelly had my eyes sweating something fierce. She did def kill it with that performance.
Kelly Clarkson is such a beautiful woman!! Inside and out. Hey voice is demanding, perfectly pitched, her voice is just... Stunning!! These lyrics, for me, REALLY resignate. My Mom left me since I can remember... She started leaving me when I was approximately three years old, she'd be gone for years, come back for a few months, leave for years. I never knew my Dad... Well I did get to talk to him a couple of times but then he passed away before I got to meet him. He was only about 53 years old!! Young!! So yes, this song gets me in my soul!!
The night on American Idol when I heard that song, I cried from the second sentence in. Unfortunately, that was the story of my life, but I was even younger. A girl never gets over the rejection of her father, as I assume guys don’t either. I cried all those years ago, and I still do when I hear her sing that song. Some wounds you can try to get past, but you never forget rejection! Great reaction video 😊!
My father was horrible to my Mom. He burned her hair off. She bravely left him when I was 3. I saw him again when I was 14. He borrowed $5 from me so he could get something to eat. I went home and apologized to my Mom for going to see him. She said it was good for me to see the truth. This song is just so beautiful. Truth.
Fanning your hands to face does help stop crying cause it dries the eyes making them not moist enough to tear up lol. Doctors told me that too. That pianist needs major props for sticking with her and supporting her voice when she trailed off and got emotional. I have seen this like 500 times and still fall apart full Urban style! His dad he was so close to and passed away before this a few months I think and it hit him hard. I wish Kelly released this version instead of the more pop dance version! I love how country style songs are so simple...they tell a story ya don’t have to guess what it’s about. It’s always raw and real and like a diary. She is amazing. Her and Demi are Queens!
I just came across this video and I loves watching you two and your commentary afterwards! Y’all are funny and serious - at the same time! Def made me laugh about “when girls don’t wanna cry they go like this (fanning his face 😂) like what’s that gonna do?!” 😂😂😂 So true! Props to Kelly...that song is one of my favorites. She wrote it about her relationship with her own dad and her commitment to make sure things will be different for her kids - unconditional love always. 🙏🏼 RESPECT.
Kelly Clarkson is the most amazing singer, with such raw talent. She should have won at least 10 grammy awards, besides just 3. She has the capability to touch your soul and emotions. She is one of a few singers that can touch people.
Keith Urban in tears and Jennifer Lopez totally shell-shocked. You have got to have your shit together to get those reactions from seasoned professionals. Kelly is that girl! Come on, have you EVER seen Jennifer Lopez with that look on her face...Ever?
Tourelle I could see the tears welling up in your eyes!! That was a great reaction so real so different from most a ya'lls an Understandably so. I love all of y'alls videos I especially like this one!! Thanx for all the feels u gave me along wt this beautiful song!!!!
This connects to us all...a lot of us have lived a life of “Not good enough”.....and it’s very true that we create our lives and worth...with every action, gesture and actions...
I've watched this video many, many times. Every time I hear her say she was worthless, I break down completely. My story is very similar to hers. My mom and dad divorced when I was 5 years old. Since I was so young, I never really felt like I missed out on anything not having him in the home, at least I thought I didn't. Throughout my life though, I've always sought out approval and acceptance from men. My self worth seemed to be dependent on that. I met my father for what I consider to be the first time in my life about a month ago. I hadn't seen him in 49 years. He's 75 now and I'm 54. We live in different states, so it wasn't easy to meet, but he came to where I live. I was so nervous and anxious. I didn't even know how the visit would go. Would I get the approval and acceptance from my father that I had always craved from other men? I wasn't sure. My dad could only visit for the weekend, but it was the most wonderful weekend of my life. The visit wasn't awkward or uncomfortable. I finally got the approval and acceptance, and most importantly, the love that I needed, and from the only man that could have given it to me. That's my dad and I in my profile picture. My face alone shows how happy I am to have my dad finally in my life.
This is one of the best performances I’ve ever seen/heard. It’s funny (not haha funny) that she apologizes for struggling to get through the song, because to me, this is my favorite version of this song. ☮️💜
I remember the first time I heard this performance. Very few things make me cry. This performance and episode 3 in season five of glee made me break down. Kelly is so amazing and super underrated. She has an outstanding voice and she has gone through More than what many other singers. I love her so much
I love your reaction to Kelly's song!! I wanted to say something about a particular reaction from one of you, but don't want to put you on the spot. But I love the reaction to her video!!
You boys are sweet. Breaks my heart that a little girl like Kelly at 6 yrs old begged her dad to love her without any success. Too much of that out there, folks who don't feel love
Nobody truly knows what its like to grow up feeling as if your father dont love you because there is something wrong with you.. It hurts.. Even when you have your own kids.. The pain is still there.. You just hurt a little less because your kids love you unconditionally and that feeling is indescribable.. And its priceless.. I sometimes often wonder even now at the age of 27.. Why was i so hard to love.. 💔😔
I watched you guys a few times and loved it...I subscribed today watching this...which proves you guys are honest and responsive to every video you are watching everytime. I love your reactions..and I have watched different youtube peoples reaction to songs...but you are all atr my favorite...keep up the good work!!
I've always hated how Kelly Clarkson gets so little respect just because she was on American Idol. She is such an amazing singer, and she didn't have anything easy. She deserves everything she has.
she is THE american idol
lostalex77 her Grammys shut them up
I think she now does though. Just that she is still fairly underrated.
Beautiful
@@shawnleong3605 She is underrated like P!nk is.. The industry likes all the bubble gum crowd because that is what makes them money..
This is the most emotional song I’ve heard, give props to the pianist who supported her to the end, seamlessly. 😢
Jason has been her pianist since American Idol. He is still with her today, 16 years later. He is great, just like Kelly!
stuart brown that's what a good accompanist does. I play piano and it is very important to follow the vocalist. I have "covered" many mistakes.
Though she was professionally embarrassed, you could tell from the crowd there wasn't a person in that room that thought less of her breaking in that song.
She probably was able to keep going because he did
I’d be crying on keys if it was me. 😭 🎹
Really Tired 64 they did have serious problems, though, when they were trying
Those tears in Keith Urban eyes are priceless. It's ok for a man to cry we have tears to.
His daughter was about six when this came out
It's so incredibly sad that in this day and age that even needs to be said anymore
Is just me or does anyone else love seeing men cry? They have big hearts!!
Anyone with a heart would be affected by this song. REAL men cry.
I gave this to my husband. My dad walked away when I was 2. I met my husband when I was 16. We're still together and I'll be 5o this Summer. 💕
Sarah Dixon That’s fantastic! My Dad did the same over 67 years ago. I don’t believe I ever will forget that feeling. Like you, I met my Sweetie when I was 13 and he was 15. You're awesome!!!!
Same here sweetie. I'm 41, met my hubby at 19. He definitely saved me.
Its been 5-6 years and every time this performance gets me 😭
Avatar 2 reminds me of her performance. And now I'm here and emotional... again :)
Kelly will always be my favorite American Idol! She is timeless!
Teal'c Rude.
Timeless!?! Not really
This makes me cry every time I watch it without fail haha
Every👏🏽 single👏🏽 time😩😩😩 i have a love hate relationship with it
Same
If that doesn't show you the importance of being a good father and how important a good father is to his kids I don't know what will. Be a great dad. Hug your kids often. Show them you love them
This song fucks me up EVERY SINGLE TIME
Still to this day.

I've seen this performance hundreds of times. Why am I still crying?!???
I'm wordering the same thing 😂
Thought i would not cry after 4times back to back
But nope my tears still rolling😪❤
Because we are human.
Well I cried again. She's amazing.
In the song she mentions he asked for money. Makes me SICK that he threw her away but, when she gets some money..."Daddy's home!"
Not only is Kelly a brilliant song writer and is able to express so much emotion in her music, but her personality hasnt changed since day one. If you watch her show now she is 100% still that goofy ass girl who showed up at American Idol wearing blue jeans as a top.

No idea how she made it through that as well as she did. I still can't watch it without crying.
Take notes children, this is how a performance should be done....no back track. She is the true American Idol.
This is my favorite reaction. I come back every once in a while just to watch you 2 again ...and I love it every single time 💗
I had a hard time reframing from getting emotional, especially while watching this American Idol version. Just the piano, her voice and her emotion is all that is needed
I grew up without my dad. He chose his alcohol over his children. God Bless Kelly!
Robyn Fulgaro Same! Except it was meth not alcohol.
Crying al over again !!!! This performance is just. EVERYTHING! Your reactions are all of us!

I have watched several of your reaction videos. I really like watching you guys!
This song always makes me cry, especially this one when she starts to cry, she is my favorite singer! I voted for her on American Idol!
One of my fav performances....so heartfelt and sad
I cry my eye's out!!😢😢😢😢Beautiful Song❤❤
Nobody truly knows what its like to grow up feeling as if your father dont love you because there is something wrong with you.. It hurts.. Even when you have your own kids.. The pain is still there.. You just hurt a little less because your kids love you unconditionally and that feeling is indescribable.. And its priceless.. I sometimes often wonder even now at the age of 27.. Why was i so hard to love.. 💔😔
This song makes me want to be her best friend....The pianist was awesome. I love the music as well as her voice
Jennifer thinking " damn wish I could sing like that".
Omg I watched this video after finding out that she became famous from using other people to sing her songs.
raymond misegades she’s thinking how wonderful Kelly Clarkson is and how emotional this song is. STFU.
