But he wasn't taken to the doctor because his family didn't have the $3 for the visit, was stung hundreds of times by fire ants while his mother picked peas, was severely burned when a log rolled out of the fire place onto his legs, was almost killed by an angry ram, almost died of whooping cough.... He thought that the only reason that his parents had kids was so that there were plenty of hands to help in the fields. Yet, this man never raised his voice to us, never lost his patience, never spanked us in anger ( he would go to his room and pray before he disciplined us) never let us forget that he loved us. That is a FATHER. He never with held love or discipline. I miss him. I love you, Daddy

I lose it every time I see this video. My biological father has never given a shit about me, no matter how hard I’ve tried to get him to, and this song hits me hard. Luckily my son has a good father who loves him, because I know what it feels like to not have that. My grandfather was the one who picked me up off the ground and became my “dad”. My boys father was chasing women while I was raising our boys. I am proud to say that I am a grandmother of two precious grandsons and another grandson on the way!

The last time I had seen my mother was when I was 12, she died 8 years ago now when I was 18. I wasn't able to go to her funeral but my uncle sent a picture of her in the casket and she had aged so much I couldn't even recognize my own mother. Even though she chose to let us go, I know, it was for our own good. I know she loved us, while I was left with chronic depression and anxiety as a result I still forgave, love and miss her so much. That's why I cry.

I've watched this video many, many times. Every time I hear her say she was worthless, I break down completely. My story is very similar to hers. My mom and dad divorced when I was 5 years old. Since I was so young, I never really felt like I missed out on anything not having him in the home, at least I thought I didn't. Throughout my life though, I've always sought out approval and acceptance from men. My self worth seemed to be dependent on that. I met my father for what I consider to be the first time in my life about a month ago. I hadn't seen him in 49 years. He's 75 now and I'm 54. We live in different states, so it wasn't easy to meet, but he came to where I live. I was so nervous and anxious. I didn't even know how the visit would go. Would I get the approval and acceptance from my father that I had always craved from other men? I wasn't sure. My dad could only visit for the weekend, but it was the most wonderful weekend of my life. The visit wasn't awkward or uncomfortable. I finally got the approval and acceptance, and most importantly, the love that I needed, and from the only man that could have given it to me. That's my dad and I in my profile picture. My face alone shows how happy I am to have my dad finally in my life.

Fanning your hands to face does help stop crying cause it dries the eyes making them not moist enough to tear up lol. Doctors told me that too. That pianist needs major props for sticking with her and supporting her voice when she trailed off and got emotional. I have seen this like 500 times and still fall apart full Urban style! His dad he was so close to and passed away before this a few months I think and it hit him hard. I wish Kelly released this version instead of the more pop dance version! The night on American Idol when I heard that song, I cried from the second sentence in. Unfortunately, that was the story of my life, but I was even younger. A girl never gets over the rejection of her father, as I assume guys don’t either. I cried all those years ago, and I still do when I hear her sing that song. Well I did get to talk to him a couple of times but then he passed away before I got to meet him. He was only about 53 years old!! Young!! So yes, this song gets me in my soul!!

I was lucky to have an amazing father. He was my best friend. He passed about 5 years ago. Even though I have had an opposite experience with my dad, This song really affects me emotionally. It reminds me how lucky I am and how much a child needs a good father. My husband is an amazing father. Every child deserves my experience and that of my sons.
Kelly Clarkson is the most amazing singer, with such raw talent. She should have won at least 10 grammy awards, besides just 3. She has the capability to touch your soul and emotions. She is one of a few singers that can touch people.

I just came across this video and I loves watching you two and your commentary afterwards! Y’all are funny and serious - at the same time! Def made me laugh about “when girls don’t wanna cry they go like this (fanning his face 😂) like what’s that gonna do?!” 😂😂😂 So true! Props to Kelly...that song is one of my favorites. She wrote it about her relationship with her own dad and her commitment to make sure things will be different for her kids - unconditional love always. 🙏🏼 RESPECT.
Fanning your hands to face does help stop crying cause it dries the eyes making them not moist enough to tear up lol. Doctors told me that too. That pianist needs major props for sticking with her and supporting her voice when she trailed off and got emotional. I have seen this like 500 times and still fall apart full Urban style! His dad he was so close to and passed away before this a few months I think and it hit him hard. I wish Kelly released this version instead of the more pop dance version! I love how country style songs are so simple...they tell a story ya don’t have to guess what it’s about. It’s always raw and real and like a diary. She is amazing. Her and Demi are Queens!

The night on American Idol when I heard that song, I cried from the second sentence in. Unfortunately, that was the story of my life, but I was even younger. A girl never gets over the rejection of her father, as I assume guys don’t either. I cried all those years ago, and I still do when I hear her sing that song. Some wounds you can try to get past, but you never forget rejection! Great reaction video 😊!

Kelly Clarkson is such a beautiful woman!! Inside and out. Hey voice is demanding, perfectly pitched, her voice is just... Stunning!! These lyrics, for me, REALLY resignate. My Mom left me since I can remember... She started leaving me when I was approximately three years old, she'd be gone for years, come back for a few months, leave for years. I never knew my Dad... Well I did get to talk to him a couple of times but then he passed away before I got to meet him. He was only about 53 years old!! Young!!

I was lucky to have an amazing father. He was my best friend. He passed about 5 years ago. Even though I have had an opposite experience with my dad, This song really affects me emotionally. It reminds me how lucky I am and how much a child needs a good father. My husband is an amazing father. Every child deserves my experience and that of my sons.
Kelly Clarkson is the most amazing singer, with such raw talent. She should have won at least 10 grammy awards, besides just 3. She has the capability to touch your soul and emotions. She is one of a few singers that can touch people.
