@@marciasrivastava4861 Yes, seriously. If he'd stopped or just kept going she wouldn't have been able to continue and not everyone has the ability and / or empathy to play around someone when they don't know if they will or won't be able to continue and nonetheless give them the support to let them have the moment and still complete the song, coming out strong from a moment of weakness. I'm sure she appreciated it.

My daughter dedicated this to me a couple of years ago. Her biological mother walked out on her and her three younger siblings when they were young. When their father and I got together, I made a promise to them that I wouldn't walk out on them. Eleven years later, I'm still here and in August, we'll be welcoming our fourth grandbaby.

That's definitely amazing, my mother and father left me at 18 months old, my maternal grandparents raised me until I was 7 then my father and his wife, fought for custody, and since he was my "father, they gave them custody, then when I was 12 he sold his parental rights to my grandparents..after 5 years of hell and I finally made it back home to my mama and daddy💜

So the “pop” version of this song was the one that the label wanted to be released cuz they thought it would do better. After this aired, people were demanding for this version to be on iTunes, and when it did get put on there, it out sold the “pop” version by a lot.

Her father left, she literally traveled 15hundred miles to see him, and he turned her away.
After she made it big, he tried coming back into her life.
The husband who helped build her up, and the father of her children, is Reba McEntire's son.

This breaks my heart every time I hear it because I had a Dad who sacrificed EVERYTHING for his children. He sired 18 of us and gave us all the love and attention one man could possibly give to so many. Not only did he have time for all of us, he also played the Dad to neighborhood kids who didn't have one themselves, he always included them in our outings. I will never know Kelly's kind of pain but I do know the pain of losing a Dad since mine passed in 2000.

My father kicked me across the room when I was two years old and walked out I didn’t see him again until I was eleven then he only stayed for thirty minutes Nd left I didn’t see him again until I was eighteen I cut ties with him , I told him I forgive him for the pain he caused my sisters and I but I’d not allow him to do the same to my daughter and break her faith and her soul I’ve not seen him now in 7 years

I feel this song to the core. My father walked away at about 4-5 yrs old. When I was grown, married and had my first son, he knocked on my door asking to see his grandson. My mother remarried when I was 12 to the man I call Dad. He showed me that a father could not only stay, but be GREAT!!! I told my biological father that my son's grandpa was at home with grandma, I don't know where your grandson is but he is not here!!!! I know, TMI, but I truly feel this song deep in my soul.

God why do I continue to listen to this song!!! 😭😭😭😭 I can relate WAY TO HARD to this. My father was never there for me, the bottle was always more important. Then my mom got married to this WONDERFUL man, my true dad, who loved me and my siblings and cousins who's fathers were never there for them either. He passed away 5 years ago and it still breaks my heart. We didn't always get along, we fought and yelled at each other sometimes but I always knew he loved me. I was afraid of my father, afraid to even talk back to him. A child should not fear their father. Or wonder why they were never enough.

Kelly’s singing about a father leaving his family, and a step-father coming into their lives and loving them and rebuilding them “piece by piece”. I believe she’s referring to her own father and family, that’s why she’s crying, and having difficulty getting through the song.

But he helped me raise my kids as well. It wasn't easy for him trying to step into that role, but he did it and now they love him more than their actual dad, because he's always there for them in so many ways that their biological dad isn't. Even without my father around, this song still has a deep meaning. Love you, Kelly Clarkson.

That song was like a call to our culture to do better. For families to be families. For men to be fathers. It's just... a really good song. Even though I have a dad this song makes me emotional... he's not exactly the greatest role model in some ways, he's very pessimistic and controlling and has given me a lot of emotional baggage. But he never abandoned me, he's always made supper for us, and even taught me how to read and write and do math... I'm luckier than a lot of people.

Yep this song gets me every time. For me he left when I was 5 and he never came back. He lived less than an hour away but had no desire to see me. Still hurts knowing that. But my mom was awesome and did the best she could.

"you're not gonna have me crying today" sorry Billy but being emotional to the live version of this song is unavoidable 😭

This song ALWAYS brings me to tears. When I was 12, my mom and my dad got a divorce and I saw my dad for probably the first 3 years after it, and then my dad just went ghost on me. He stopped returning calls, letters, stopped visiting me, etc. I was hurt, confused and lost, and then my step dad came into the picture. While he and I haven't had the best relationship, i will always be grateful for him coming into our lives and for him doing all he could to be a father figure to me. I STILL haven't seen or heard from him even though I'm an adult and don't want/need anything from him

Yes it does hurt. My father did that to me when I was 5 and then told me he wanted nothing to do with me when I was 14. But I was raised by 2 strong women. My mom and my granny who taught me my self worth and I didn't need a father or a man to make something of myself. Don't get me wrong. I have a husband of 33 yrs and a 25 yr old son. But I am who I am bc of the man who told me I wasn't good enough. I spent my life showing him I was good enough.

Her husband is her manager and been awesome. I knew Keith urban was going to cry. He's always been a family man. Meaning every breath is about his family. He was that way even before getting married.
