  • Knockout designs can be done right in Design Space, but I choose to do them in Inkscape so that I have the svg file to share and use later. In this video I slice an image out of text and keep the second color as well.

I wish you would make alot more videos I have followed step by step and your spot on. I didnt understand how do you space the words. I had them selected and it would not move. But again I stay watching your videos cause they are easy to understand.

Thank you :) To move the letters closer together, is that what you mean? You have to be in the word, but not just selected. You have to double click on it so you have a cursor, so that you could change what's written if you want. With the cursor blinking, you can click the up/down button up top that has the two A's side by side with the bar between them to change the spacing between your letters.

Thanks for the video; however, I believe there is a mistake. I've looked at knock out images and when you add the color image back (like the blue hornet) it should be divided where the two words divide. In this video it's not, it seems that you only sliced the hornet from the words.

you are absolutely correct... I wish some would explain how to remove the blue from the spaces in between the words, they are not the same.

Sorry, didn't see this comment before! If you'd also like the space between the words to not have the blue, just create a rectangle, drag it out very wide and thin, just big enough to fill the space between the two words. Lay it on top of the blue there, select it and the blue hornet, and click Path -> Difference and that piece of blue will disappear :)

Hello there! Can you tell me how you got your inkscape set up to look like that? where the fonts are at the top of the screen?

Wendy thanks for the tutorial but is there a way to add and offset to this design? Like if I wanted to layer this glitter on glitter?

So you want to add a glitter shadow layer around it kind of? I would make a copy of the black layer, do a linked offset on that copy, making it however thick you want it. Then select both the offset layer and the copy of the black layer, and do path -> difference so that your outer offset will be hollow in the middle and you can just put your entire original design in that space. Does that make sense and does it answer your question? I would love to make a video on it, but I know that I'm just so busy right now that I don't know when I could get to it. Thank you :)
