  • Silhouettes are a great addition to your designs. While it's easy to just download one from Google or Etsy, you can get a better quality silhouette and get the exact one you want by making it yourself and it's not hard to do! I'll show you how to take any clipart image you can find and turn it into a perfect silhouette to be printed or cut by your cutting machine.

    Thank you! This whole tutorial is really great, but especially thank you for the last bit where your Inkscape program didn't subtract the difference even though you had selected both paths. I was having that same problem, but once I followed your instructions using the nodes tool, it finally worked! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

    The reason you couldn't perform the path-difference operation at minute 8 in your video is that one of your paths was Grouped. Just need to ungroup the three green paths and perform this on each one. But your solution works great. Nice tutorial. Thanks

    Very cool. Thanks for the Inkscape help. It would be good to have a way to maintain exact alignment between the parts instead of moving them around like you did. In this case it didn't matter but another scenario might require it. Great job though. Thanks! (new to inkscape)

    realise this is old now but the reason the path>exclusion did not work is because you have the green grouped, ungroup them select them and do it repeat it and it should then work

    Hello Wendy.
    How would you edit a black and white lady silhouette svg to make it look like a colorful girl clipart?

  • @dbatch61
    @dbatch61 7 лет назад

    I believe the problem with trying to do your Difference is your green space pieces are grouped. If you ungroup, select all you will be able to perform your Difference action.

    • @WendyEdwardsPA
      @WendyEdwardsPA  7 лет назад

      No, they weren't grouped, they were unioned, I use Ctrl ++. It happens occasionally. If I go into node editor, the nodes are all there and Inkscape recognizes that it's a path. Just one of those odd things :)

    • @dbatch61
      @dbatch61 7 лет назад

      Your right. You did a union, not group. Sorry.

    Hi I hope you still check your replys on your YT channel. My question is. I'm trying to make an invitation using a gift clip art image I found with hello kitty clip art. I'm going to weld them to make the fold. Question is the tip of the ribbon will have the fold how can I make it so that when I score and fold I'll have the top of the ribbon stand up and not bend. Do I make sense?

    Hello! There, would you help me out with a knockout text of happy Mother’s Day...I did it but when I try to place the letters on top of the shadow I made doesn’t centres it and place it outside the shadow, also place a flower on the words...hope you understand what I’m saying....please and thank you ☺️

  • @gaylesackett4836
    @gaylesackett4836 7 лет назад

    thank you! I'm learning so much! Question- how to decide when there are too many nodes for Design Space to handle? To get the detail around this image you probably need all the nodes? verses the letters you helped me with, had a TON of nodes.

    • @WendyEdwardsPA
      @WendyEdwardsPA  7 лет назад +1

      I don't really have a definite way to tell, other than saving it as
      detailed as you want, try to bring it into DS and if it fails, come back
      and simplify it a bit. Sometimes it's obvious when you look at it that
      it's just enormous,but most times it's just trial and error for me.

She lost the original file and is wanting mr to make her some aprons and shirts. Only problem is I cant get it to work in sil studio or cricut ds.
