  • So I managed to get hold of the Imalent LD70 recently. This is a serious 'pocket rocket' and the brightest EDC I own by far. But is it worth buying? And are there any hidden compromises? Find out in my video. Affiliate links below:

    Imalent LD70 Transcript:
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
    • The first thing that stood out to me was the design - it has a very 'cyberpunk' feel, and almost looks like those energy/health packs in some FPS games. It's very unique and I like that. The LD70 has been out for a while now and Imalent has a reputation for squeezing out the most lumens in their flashlights. They currently have the world's brightest flashlights, the MS18 and SR32.
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
    • Angular design with various interesting cutouts. The light looks like it was made from two pieces joined together, i.e., the colored shell and the black inner tube. Interestingly there is no clip. The anodizing is amazing - matt finish and grippy. There's an OLED display on the side of the light that shows the mode, battery level, and lock. I've only seen this in one other light, the Wuben X3. Magnetic charging on the side.
    • XHP70.2 LED - tried and tested. It's a very efficient and floody LED. Produces a wall of light. OP reflector and glass AR lens.
    • I like the detailing of the inner ring of the bezel - it's blue and sits above the glass.
    UI - modes
    • Demonstration + strobe
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
    • CRI, CCT, Ceiling bounce test
    Considerations
    • I sometimes accidentally activate turbo as the time to register a double click seems longer than other lights I own. This is mostly when I click and hold to go to another mode, and then release/click again to switch off.
    • Proprietary battery and charging. Unsure if you can replace the battery yourself - looks complicated to take apart. The magnetic charger doesn't orient itself in the right direction at times. No big deal, but you'll have to clip it on properly to make sure it charges.
    • Low battery capacity - 1100mAh 18350. Standard for EDC lights of this size, and isn't an issue unless you're hitting the higher modes often.
    • No clip - it's an EDC light?
    • Hot on turbo!
    Verdict
If you're looking for the smallest and brightest flashlight you can own, the LD70 may be the one for you. There are not many other lights out there that have all the unique features of this light, let alone the smaller size, and still produce 4000 lumens.

Thinking of buying an LEP flashlight as well but also small flashlight Yet to find one though like finding small but powerful lights since its also difficult to find. big bulky lights with power are easier to find but u dnt want to carry everywhere. Going to also find a green lazer thats bright but enough where it wont burn things but dnt knw much about the mw power

LEPs should get cheaper and more practical with those zoomable lenses!

How much can last the battery if i use the lowest light running on yhe forest for example ? 2h min ?

    • @DarrenYeoYT

Lowest setting will get you 15 hours (20 lumens)

This was my first enthusiast flashlight. It's too heavy for EDC and gets hot very fast, plus the battery dies quick from the high lumens. Sofirn/Wurkkos lights are cheaper alternatives or the Acebeam E75 is better all around for a little more.

One thing I forgot to mention is I'd like a firmer tailswitch. Something that takes more pressure to activate. A tactical version of this light with a clip would be cool! Overall I like the design and performance though you won't get much runtime if you're on the 2-4k lumen mode.

The MS03 was one of the first I bought too. Don't use it much though. A bit awkward with the larger head.

Don't get me wrong, it's a little pocket rocket that impresses normies. And I like the compact design with or without a pocket clip. But without a clip, the weight makes it awkward for pocket carry and the battery dies too fast. I'd suggest the sofirn SC32 for a solid, 2-way clip and better battery life. Plus it's cheaper.

Yeah, it's marketed more for mainstream buyers - and Olight do the same thing but on a larger scale. I have the SC32 as well though I prefer the SC18/SC31 Pro as they both have better sustained output. But side switch.. can't have everything 😅

the only thing that is really wrong with this flashlight is the autonomy. It discharges too quickly making it almost useless. Even if bigger, the perfect flashlight Edc for me is the
    wurkkos ts22 5000k.

Always a trade off I guess to keep it small. Ah nice, that looks a bit like the TS21 but with single XHP70.3.

Really like the beam pattern on this one, no visible artifacts all the way to the end of the corona. I too feel like its a TS22 somewhat, in a smaller package. Btw cheers for the video 👍

@@jumpstat yeah very smooth beam profile. These larger XHP LEDs are great if you're want lots of floody light. Cheers man.

Yeah, proprietary charging is impractical for serious enthusiasts and people into camping, outdoors.. I also like lights that can accept primary cells.
