Damascus integral handle knife from bearing balls

  • I made what I call a python pattern Damascus knife using about 800 high-carbon steel balls.
    Regarding the container, I chose not to remove it to get a better structure, and after finishing the first forge, I used a milling machine to remove the mild steel can.
    About pattern inspiration. I have seen many steel ball forging videos, but the pattern is not what I want, I want to get something like an irregular circle, not an elongated ellipse, so I cut the billet into small pieces at 30°, and arrange them evenly to make A pattern of cross sections is obtained.
    For the final forge weld, I used 1mm thick mild steel that was completely sealed by welding. It will be safer to do so. Here's what I learned from watching other RUclipsrs make explosion mosaics. Thanks for watching

    You managed to keep the lines sharp and crisp, yet it still looks like it would feel "soft" to the hand.... outstanding work my friend.....the damascus only serves to accent the linearity of the blade with the circular pattern it reveals.......beautiful.....my vote is yours

    Весьма аккуратная , профессиональная и красивая работа .
    Хотел бы сказать одно НО , дамаск имеет одну особенность - он неоднороден и поэтому на режущей кромке ножа получается "плавающая" заточка, на рабочей кромке лучше иметь однородную сталь с обкладками из красивого дамаска .

    • @HansKnives
      @HansKnives  Год назад +1

      If forged, then the pattern becomes irregular and I want to get a consistent pattern. Regarding the lines, which were not visible before the erosion, they were completely blended together. It's just that the lines are displayed after corrosion.
