Damascus integral handle knife from bearing balls

- I made what I call a python pattern Damascus knife using about 800 high-carbon steel balls.
Regarding the container, I chose not to remove it to get a better structure, and after finishing the first forge, I used a milling machine to remove the mild steel can.
About pattern inspiration. I have seen many steel ball forging videos, but the pattern is not what I want, I want to get something like an irregular circle, not an elongated ellipse, so I cut the billet into small pieces at 30°, and arrange them evenly to make A pattern of cross sections is obtained.
For the final forge weld, I used 1mm thick mild steel that was completely sealed by welding. It will be safer to do so. Here's what I learned from watching other RUclipsrs make explosion mosaics. Thanks for watching

The Shogun and Kacey Musgraves thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Thanks Hans.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone go mosaic with ball bearings canister before. Loved seeing the fresh technique! Beautiful integral knife!
Thank you !🍻
Awesome!! Bearing canister always looks cools to me! Well done my friend, super sleek knife! Cheers!
The precision of your knives is always outstanding Han! Phenomenal job Brother!
A great idea from from bearing balls. The knife is very special, the lines are clear. Thank you for sharing!
wow you can see the diagonal cut. very very good forged weld. great mosaic pattern and great looking knife. 👌🏽💯
You managed to keep the lines sharp and crisp, yet it still looks like it would feel "soft" to the hand.... outstanding work my friend.....the damascus only serves to accent the linearity of the blade with the circular pattern it reveals.......beautiful.....my vote is yours
Most beautiful knife I've ever seen! Fantastic work!
I think the ferry flip actually added a nice touch! Makes the pattern a bit more unique
The actual grip is as you said, really good, I tried to modify it a few times. Thanks for watching Keaton🍻
I love how this turned out. Great pattern!!
Good Lord, what a brilliant work of art. Love the simplicity which hides the stunning details in it's design. You created a masterpiece. I wish you all the best in the competition. Also had to subscribe. Thank you for a fantastic video 👍👍👍
Ive never thought of tiling ball bearing damascus how you did. Thats how you got that interesting result. love the build and learned something new. thank you.
Glad this video was helpful to you.
Fantastic job again Hans you truly are a master craftsman. You’ve got my vote!
Thank you so much for your vote, 🍻
Awesome build Hans! The pattern is striking
I love the simple elegance of this knife... Absolutely stunning. 🔥🤘
Very nice. This is the sort of knife that I would put in my collection if I had the skill. Great job.
I'm glad somebody finally had the balls to do this...
That came out great 👌
love the clean look and the pattern is awesome 👏
Lovely work! Interesting and good handle design.
what a work of art! nice design the knife was given and i like the way you discovered that the handle had that sharp corner and you rounded it...and then there is that mania of metal powder and ball bearings saturating the knife giving the whole thing that soul texture like only wood can have...i am now so crazy inspired! thank you for this video!!
Thank you!🍻
great job! you file work is so satisfying
What a beautiful piece of art! I wish I could get a masterclass by you and - with your guidance, supervision and machinery - make such a Damascene knife myself!! It would be worth a pretty penny to me 🤗👍🙏
I like how accurate you draw those lines on the blade. Very impressive work.
Masterclass in high quality simplicity !!
I love the pattern on this knife fantastic 👍
Very nice Hans, great pattern.
I really like how clean it looks, and the shape of all the circles in the steel. Very cool!

Cool!!! Awesome Build!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
beautiful pattern!
Great concept and well made.
Real interesting concept love how it all flows, the pattern is
REALLY cool too👍🙌🤙
Thanks 🍻
Cool pattern! Reminds me of a petoskey stone, we got a whole lot of them here in Michigan.
Beautiful knife!!!
Enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
🍻🍻
@@HansKnives 👍👍👍👍👍
Nice pattern, nice work, congrats!
Thanks🍻
Gorgeous Build! :D
Looks like something one would find in a high-end kitchenware catalog and/or retailer!
The design of this knife is from one of my previous thick steel knives, I simplified the design and that's it.
Pretty impressive!
Incredible craftsmanship
Nice work!
Different kind if raindrop pattern. I likes it.
looks brilliant
Beautiful work. I would put some grooves in the handle if I was going to be using it, to help with grip.
Gorgeous knife
As another commenter noted, this is elegant simplicity. I really like it, and thanks for the demonstration of tiling bearing steel.
Thank you! 🍻
Beautiful work
Thanks for checking this video

Wow. So unique. I want one
Good work
Awesome knife man! Very difficult build with the integral handle.
Yes, especially the part with the rounded corners, it drives me crazy--! 🍻
thats a good looking knife
incredible my brother
nice press!
Looks kind of like blood cells through a microscope in black and white. Love the all in one craftsmanship. Beautiful work.
That must be a zombie's cell - -! because it's black and white

interesting pattern but terribly knife shape !!
Very good👍🔪!!
Lovely knife amd design, if I may make a suggestion tho, I think a pedal attachment to your press handle would be very beneficial. It would leave both your hands free and speed up the direction change. Check kyleroyers press videos if you're unsure what I mean
Nice !! should Laser etch that on the circles
Very cool, I have a question, please, what is the material in which the knife was put so that it became stained and bluish like this
Really nice knife!! I love your techniques and how you have your press and belt sander set up.
That's how I want my set up to be. What tonnage is your press?
Thank you!My press is 22 tons
So good!🔥🤙
🍻🍻🍻🍻
Eline sağlık.
Very handsome. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome build, I just don't see the fantasy theme, but beautifull nonethless
i voted for you ... nice artistic piece
Thank you!
beauty .....!!!!
My favorite.
You could win this
PERFECT
Love your set up and that knife will go great with a 6 inch colt python.
can i ask why the ferry flip instead of forging it out? the lines are visible and seems like far more work? very elegant design and the attention to detail when hand filing were 👌
If forged, then the pattern becomes irregular and I want to get a consistent pattern. Regarding the lines, which were not visible before the erosion, they were completely blended together. It's just that the lines are displayed after corrosion.
can one do anything with all that scale coming off a red hot metal bar? is it still metallic?
Hey Han, why did you tile it? Just to reduce distortion from drawing it out? Great build though, it came out really cool!
Yes Dennis, I just don't want to get ellipses or longer circles. thanks for your encouragement
EYE LIKE IT!!!
